  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    It's time for reading/voting phase!

It's highly suggested for those wishing to vote, to read the entries and leave a comment if they so wish - every author appreciates them! The same goes for non-entries.

The reading/voting phase will last approximately a week - until 10th of December, 23:59 PST, but the votes will be accepted roughly 30 minutes until the results are posted. Anyone wishing to vote may do so from the moment this thread is posted, assuming they've read all the entries.

You can vote for one (1) entry. To submit your vote, you should send the vote to me (DarkThunder), by writing in private message/conversation "My vote goes to... (Title of the story). You may not vote for your story (just in case it's not clear :) )

    Official Entries:
KAW 8: Kinky Claus by pars001
KAW 8 - Twas the Night Before Christmas by One Hot Mama

Just bumping this, since it probably won't get sticky status over the weekend.

Small showing folks, so there's no excuse to not read everything.

On a slightly different note: I want to thank our host for running this thing. If you've never done it, you can't imagine how silly some mistakes you can make will be. Even though the response was low, it can't be blamed on the theme or the way it was presented. Congratulations on a well-run competition, @DarkThunder.

Hopefully things will turn around in the new year.

Thanks @wantsomefun :) Maybe things got in the way for people, or they didn't enjoy the theme - which is alright - whatever it is, I'm hoping next KAW/CAW has more writers and readers, since I think both competitions deserve it.

Also something I'd have said at the end but might as well here, thank you and the rest of you that participated, regardless if it's with an official entry or non-entry - I appreciate it. You've made the competition fun and worth it :)

    A few thoughts about participation:
    • There was absolutely nothing wrong with the theme or its presentation. Obviously some people embraced it, doing everything from dirty poetry parodies to horror to good old sex.
    • It's end of year holiday panic time. Real life has that pesky tendency to get in the way of more important things, like writing erotic fiction for a competition.
    • General activity on the site is down.
    • New stories appear less often than before, at least things that generally qualify as stories. (I'm differentiating here between the hundred-word, drug-addled, semi-literate rants we often see and threads that follow the more conventional definition of story.)
    • KAW excludes entrants in a way. It was originally started as a way to give new or less confident writes a place to compete without interference from people who have won CAWs before. That's great, but it lowers the number of official entries, as seen here.
    Anyway, time to read.

Well, I think the theme and the presentation of KAW-8 was outstanding. Regarding the theme, within a day I had already come up with a number of scenarios, and many of those a clear path to write a story.

Unfortunately, besides having the holiday season begin, a rather heated election the drew a lot of folks attention, hunting seasons for those who do such and so on, let alone possible personal issues there remained one point which I believe has begun to chop at participation of these events. That being, they (CAW/KAW) are happening so close together that folks I believe may be becoming burned out. There is always all sorts of excitement just before it seems and a push to hurry up and start them, yet a number of folks frankly the second the theme is not what "they" had hoped for or had in mind, coupled with the lack of a break between events I thinks causes many to say "well I'll catch the next one."

So there was no problem with the them or hosting. Simply the participants or more true non-participants. My opinion is to make them wait a bit, then they'll be hungry for it.

a good idea though there are a few speedy Gonzales type writers. (I don't personally know any (rolling eyes)) Those seem to write no matter what the theme. (usually) Then again waiting to start the comp might be a good idea after all. maybe a month to let 'em stew? LOL

It's not something I agree with (the breaks), mainly because as @wantsomefun has pointed out, KAW excludes CAW winners, so they get a break (unless they write a non-entry). If it was any longer, for example a month apart between each competition, that'd mean there'd be CAW about twice a year. Certainly though, KAW might have a slightly less draw to people (for reasons already mentioned), but even if KAW slightly suffers at times, CAW is/should be the main competition. As is, I think it works perfectly, especially since last time there were numerous people wishing that KAW would start almost as soon CAW ended, one of them being me - especially since there already is a break for writers because there's usually a 2 week long reading period + 1 week long voting period.

But that's just what I think, anyway. :)

As far I remember, last time there was a longer break between two, CAW SS has been created.

There's been debate about the spacing of these things since CAW #1. I'm not sure there's a right way to do it, but I feel CAWs and KAWs shouldn't overlap on the calendar. There's no law saying we have to enter these things if it's not convenient for us, nor is there any regulation saying we can't write about whatever we want (within site rules, of course), whenever we want, competition or not.

Go with the flow. CAW 29 will probably happen next, followed by KAW 9, if we follow our usual pattern. Those will carry us for a number of months. Who knows what will happen then?

You got plenty of response. It just happened to be weighted toward non-entries.

Which is not ideal, I realize, but neither is it an indication of poor reception.

Well Patently there was something wrong with the theme or there would have been more stories. It caught me by surprise (I thought it was a good choice- I backed Clinton too) but clearly sex stories featuring Santa are on too many peoples' Not Done list.
As for the" how it was run," I wouldn't have found fault anyway but to be fair I have no idea how this could have been presented better than it has been.

On a positive note I have read all the entries and I have voted.

I beg to differ about the theme. It seemed like a good one and was made broad enough by the host to, like many times, allow a number of different types of entries. The theme was good enough, but participation was poor. Not playing any kind of blame game here. People didn't write. There aren't as many of us as there once were, and holiday timing is a big handicap.

Not Done list may be exactly the problem.

We are not diametrically opposed on the theme. It "seemed" like a good one to me too and if the contest were to be run now and I read it was a Santa coming to town one I would have thought it would have got the pens scratching away.

Maybe it is just a general nothing left in the tank as much as the Santa is off limits.

Definitely some great reads and creative approaches to the theme. In any case, I've commented on each, and voted.

People are always saying this, but whenever the host tries to slow down the pace of the challenges it never works. One year we tried to go the entire summer without one, but people got so impatient that TWO smaller challenges sprung up in the meantime. That's how the KAW got started in the first place.

I think people are making too much out of this. For one thing, when you're hosting, you ALWAYS worry that you're not doing a good enough job or that nobody will bother writing anything. (By "you" I here mean anyone at all.) It never fails. And in this case, we ended up with what's really a perfectly normal number of stories--except that the majority of them were from people who didn't qualify for official entries. So there was plenty of interest, but not from the "right" people. Well, shit happens. Why worry about it so much?

About 32 hours to go for those wishing to vote, although it'll probably be a bit longer but better not take your chances :)

    So far...

All stories have gotten at least a vote.

    One is leading.

    But it's far from over.
