No wonder my brother got upset the other night...in a Denver Sports Bar with jillions of tv's.
He asked for them to put the Astros on. About 10 minutes later, a millennial with very large holes
in his earlobes came up and asked him which sport the Astros played...

The Rockies are doing well too 35-23 but are on a bit of a skid 4-6 and If I were a NL team I might not want to watch an AL team either lol.

But then again I am a Jays fan and like the Nationals so I would do the crossover if it were me.

The NY Mets still suck this year. I guess that firing Mr. Met didn't help much. The NY Yankees seem to be doing ok. They're up 1-0 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

    1. justpassingthru
They kicked the Jays asses 7-0 yesterday ...

But the Jays are 7-3 in their last 10 so are doing better than the start of the season. Lots of baseball left, over 100 games ...

The Houston Astros have won 10 straight games. There record is 41-16. The batting line up from 1 to 9 is filled the young guys and veterns who rack up 6,7,8+ runs a game. Their pitching, era and strikeouts lead the majors. There road record is 21-6. They haven't lost a game on the road in over 3 weeks. They just swept the Texas Rangers.

My World Series prediction as of june 4th are the Astros vs Dodgers

Simulations have the Astros on a pace to finish the regular season with a 105-57 record with a 22% chance of winning the World Series, while the Dodgers are at 98-64 with a 14% chance. The Nationals are next with also a predicted 98-64 and a 12% chance right now.

The Cubs and Indians round out the top 5 each at 8% and a 89-73 record.

BUT if predictions were money in the bank life would be fair LOL.

NY Mets are in second place behind the Nationals. NY Yankees are in first place. I don't want to get too excited yet though. We've got a long way to go.

LMAO, that isn't saying much considering they are 10 games back of the Nationals right now with a lousy 24-31 record and btw the Braves moved into 2nd place tie with the Mets last night ... considering that if the playoffs started tomorrow the Mets would be in the 7th WC spot !!! Only the top 2 get in.

Boston could take care of bumping NY out of the AL East lead tonight.

Jays take on the A's again tonight but I will be watching the Nationals/ Dodgers game closely.

The Mariners are stuck in the AL West with the Astros who are running away with that division so it is basically a fight for a wildcard spot with most teams in the AL at or below 500 .

If you are wondering why the math doesn't seem to add up in the games back column it is because (I will use the Jays as an example) technically the Jays are 5.0 games back of the Yankees but the Yankees have 3 games in hand and statistically each one counts as half a game ...

Fucking Mariners (sorry military dude) are little nasty in their treatment of fellow Canadians that make their way to Seattle to see our Jays play the Mariners and they gouge the fuck out of people as a punishment for supporting our beloved team ... the Mariners took game one yesterday but the Jays bounced back and won today, game 3 goes Sunday.

Blue Jays fans invade Safeco Field for Seattle series opener
Pricey tickets didn't dissuade thousands of blue-clad Jays fans from making the trip south
For a few days each year, the Emerald City turns a bit more blue.

And this year, thousands of Canadians once again made the trip south to Seattle to see their Toronto Blue Jays in person against the Mariners.

It's a familiar journey for western Jays fans, who over the years have earned a reputation for their vocal visiting support.

"It's so cool to see the players in real life, instead of on the screen. You get an experience rather than watching it on TV," said Ty Carrier, who travelled from Alberta with his family to catch his first live baseball game.

"I can't believe I'm here. It's a dream come true," said the Josh Donaldson fan.

    M's fan mocks Canada
Predictably, Mariners fans aren't thrilled about their team's Safeco Field home being turned into a nest of Jays fans.

Last year, M's fan Daniel Carroll became a social media sensation with his cheeky signs mocking Canada, and he was back with new signs at Safeco on Friday night.

One read, "Trader Joe's Location, USA: 470, Canada 0, Pirate Joe's doesn't count" referencing the recent closure of the popular Trader Joe's reseller Pirate Joe's.

"I wanted to push back at all the Canadians coming down and I certainly hit a button when I showed them how many Stanley Cups Canadian teams have won since 1994," said the lifelong Mariner's supporter.

    Pricey pilgrimage

But, it's a pricey pilgrimage for fans from north of the border.

This year, some drove down from as far as Red Deer, Alta., a more than 12 hour drive away.

That time doesn't include what can be lengthy waits at the border.

"They're telling us 50 minutes," said Clive Scarff, from Horseshoe Bay, B.C.

"But we left plenty of time and we are just being patient and are excited for the game."

Like many Major League Baseball teams, the Mariners use a dynamic pricing system for tickets.

Teams adjust ticket prices on a game-by-game basis by factoring in the day of the week, who the visiting opponent is, what the M's record is, and how strong popular demand is.

Ticket prices for this year's series was double in some instances, compared to other teams Mariners play.

Prices range from $30 to $600 US for each of the three weekend games. Scalpers were selling tickets for Friday's game for $100 to $125, when the same seats would go for $70 for most other games.

Some fans estimated they spent upwards of $4,000 on tickets to all three games, hotel rooms and other travel costs.

Yet, the blue invasion continues year after year.

"I've been Blue Jays fan since '86, since I had cancer. I had nothing to do but watch TV," said John De Jong.

While others simply said, "Jays fans, eh?"

The "boys of summer" are in full stride now. The Nationals and Marlins are scoreless in the bottom of the second inning. My Jays are straddling that 500 line and play the Rangers tonight.

So NY Yankees are in second place behind the Red Sox. New York Mets are in a pathetic fourth place.

Since you brought it up lets take a look at that for a minute. Since the Yankees are in a MUCH more competitive conference they have their work cut out for them but do have a nice comfortable 3 game WC lead currently but a losing streak could fuck that up quickly for them and as you can see below, they have a shitload of teams nipping at their heals. The Red Sox are one of the most consistent teams in baseball and won't go down without a fight !!!

The Mets are so far behind they think they are ahead lol.

Rangers returned the favor yesterday by kicking the Jays asses 11-4 to get to the 500 mark (36-36). They take on the 39-31 Yankees tonight.

The Nationals are rolling right along with a 43-29 record and take on the lowly Reds tonight.
