Going to kick back after the stock markets close and finally watch The Martian with Matt Damon, I like his acting especially in the Bourne series of movies.

 

It seems like you see one of these and the rest are all the same. I am not a Johnny Depp fan so won't go out of my way to watch it but if it shows up I might take a boo at it however it seems Hollywood has just run out of good movies these days.

 

Personally I really enjoy a good gangster film ... Bonnie & Clyde being my favorite with Al Capone right up there as well.

Just rewatched American Gangster and still enjoyed it except the fashions kinda creeped me out. Bell bottoms should be illegal period.

Just called up Cast Away with Tom Hanks for a rewatch.

Still have The Martian que'd up but need 2 1/2 uninterrupted hours to enjoy that one ... maybe Friday night.

 

Just finished watching The Martian and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great film that somehow manages to get you on the edge of your seat at times, which is no easy feat with single character scenes ... well done and definitely worth the time to watch.

Matt Damon definitely lived up to his reputation as a great actor.

If nothing else this film teaches us how lucky we are to be able to communicate with each other with a few simple keystrokes ... yet some still take that for granted by filling their screen with hate and negativity.

 

Just watched Ted 2 and as painful as it was at times it did have some funny parts in it. The first one was a novelty and this one could easily just been shelved.

 

COWBOYS and DINOSAURS

Okay, I like to watch B movies on Netflix from time to time. You know the kind, they're so bad they're good. Anyway this is NOT one of them. It was pretty bad and even though there was some sexy girls in the show there was NO BARE TITS.

Not even some killer weed from the Rixer private reserve could save this film.
I give a solid thumbs down.

"The Heart of the Sea".

We rented this at Redbox over the weekend. It's the story of how Herman Melville came to write the novel, "Moby Dick". He came across an old man who as a boy signed on to a whaling ship out of Nantucket. They ended up sailing around the Horn and up the coast of South America. They ran into a huge group of whales and were harpooning them from long boats. It was pretty good filming of how brutal the whole thing was.

Things were going good until they harpooned a great white whale. The whale was called 'white' because of all the barnacles attached to it gave it a white like appearance. At any rate, this whale is one mean white fish. They had to cut the line as he was going to take the longboat under. The whale is obsessed and starts to fight back by ramming their whaling ship until he sinks it. The movie shows their ordeal getting rescued and what happened when they returned. The owners of the whaling company and the whaling association wouldn't let the real story of what happened get out because the insurance companies would raise rates if they thought their was more risk involved.

Years later Melville hears talk of what happened. The boy who signed onto that whaling ship years ago is now an old man and Melville finally gets to hear his story. This is it. The true story of how Melville came to write the fiction novel, Moby Dick.

I give it two thumbs up!

 

"Deadpool" Again for the 100th time.

 

I would watch that for Gina Carano alone ...

I like Ryan Reynolds (fellow Canadian) and all but I don't know if it was the best casting. Will have to watch it and see though.

 

Movie is insane. I loved it. You have to watch it.

 

Last night we watched Special Correspondents, a Netflix produced film that was just released. It's about a self centered reporter (Eric Bana) and his bumbling technician (Ricky Gervais) who get sent to South America to cover a revolt. Now before they actually meet for the assignment, the reporter gets picked up in a bar by the tech's wife (Vera Farmiga) and she takes him home and screws him while her husband is away. This gets interesting later.

Anyway, they get sent on assignment to cover a revolt and while on route to the airport, the tech accidently loses the envelope with their passports and money. Because they'll lose their jobs if they fuck up one more time, they end up calling in fake reports from a room across the street from the news station. One lie after another and to cover their tracks, they claim they are now held captive by rebels. The White House gets envolved and now these guys have to make their way to Ecuador somehow to cover their lies.

It's actually pretty good so if you have Netflix, check it out.

Rented this from Redbox. Now I love a good shitkicker movie now and then and this is a good one. Rather than tell you about it and perhaps spoil it for you, I'm posting the trailer, check it out.
At any rate, if you like westerns and love Natalie Portman like I do, go rent this flick.
