NASCAR loves this. This is why they designed this format.

If they were really mad at Kenseth then they would have suspended him for three races, not two. They suspended Kenseth for two races to give Logano a chance to win a race and stay in the Chase. They didn't suspend Kenseth for three races because they want the drama of a re-match between these two at Homestead. Having those two on the track for the championship race after Kenseth comes off a suspension will be ratings gold.

Even if nothing happens between Kenseth and Logano at Homestead, simply having them there will bring in viewers. NASCAR couldn't have scripted this any better.

Three instead of two? Maybe you are right, NASCAR could be setting the stage for Homestead, but if they wanted to save the 2 & 22 they needed to suspend 34 more drivers for two races as well.

There are very few drivers who don't think that NASCAR caved to Penske and his sponsors, they will all be factors that Brad and Joey will have to deal with. Right now there is only one driver who is safe on the track, not even the Penske boys would be stupid enough to wreck Gordon.

Glad to see the number four in the final four. Hopefully Kevin takes it all...again. If not then I hope Gordon takes it all.

Also glad to see the 2 and 22 knocked out. Hopefully they will come back next year and run clean. I guess Kenseth's work is done for now. He's made his point. Hopefully he can now go out there and just race without the 2 or the 22 trying to put him into the wall or vice versa.

The Championship 4 has been determined following the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 at Phoenix International Raceway, which ended at Lap 219 of a scheduled 312 due to rain.

Four in, four out: Here's the bubble picture following Phoenix. The four drivers below the line failed to advance to the Championship Round at Homestead-Miami Speedway while the four drivers above the line will be racing on Sunday, Nov. 22 for the title in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

    1. Kevin Harvick

    2. Jeff Gordon

    3. Kyle Busch

    4. Martin Truex Jr.

    ---------------

    5. Carl Edwards

    6. Brad Keselowski

    7. Kurt Busch

    8. Joey Logano

Reason for hope: As the defending race winner, Kevin Harvick is looking to defend his title. Out of the Championship 4, "Happy" has the best average finish at 7.6 at Homestead.

Reason for worry: In 10 starts, Kyle Busch only has three top 10 finishes at the Florida track and finished 39th last year. To add to that, "Rowdy" has an average finish 23.1 and hasn't led any laps there since 2012.

Up next: Ford EcoBoost 400, 3 p.m. ET, Nov. 22 at Homestead-Miami Speedway (NBC/Live Extra, MRN, Sirius XM)

    Who it favors

Most wins: Jeff Gordon and Kevin Harvick (one win each)

Best driver rating: Martin Truex Jr., 106.6

Best average finish: Kevin Harvick, 7.6

    Who it hurts

Fewest top 10s: Kyle Busch, 3

Worst driver rating: Kyle Busch, 91.5

Worst average finish: Kyle Busch, 23.1

Missed seeing the rain shortened race at Phoenix, I'm pleased with the final four in the chase. It should be interesting at Homestead, will the Penske boys try to play spoilers? Will Kenseth be competitive?

Poor Kenseth. He makes ONE right turn and NASCAR throws a hissy fit. Geez!

Kenseth should have called up Tom Brady and asked him for the name of the Judge in Brady's deflategate case.

Great race. I thought the caution at the 10th lap might have been a game changer, but Rowdy drove like the devil was following him. Congrats to Kyle Bush.

Kyle Busch wins his first Sprint Cup Series championship

In a season that would make a pretty good movie script, Kyle Busch completed his comeback and captured his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup championship.

Busch took home the 2015 championship by being the top finisher in the Ford EcoBoost 400 on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway among the Championship 4-eligible drivers of Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon and Martin Truex Jr.

The 2015 season started off in a frightening fashion for Busch. A crash in the season-opening NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Daytona International Speedway left him with a broken right leg and a broken left foot. Busch missed the first 11 points races of the season before returning in the middle of May for the Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Matt Crafton, David Ragan and Erik Jones each took turns behind the wheel of the No. 18 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing.

NASCAR granted Busch a waiver to make the Chase provided he was able to win a race and crack the top 30 in points before the end of the 26-race regular season at Richmond International Raceway.

It took Busch just over a month to find Victory Lane and he did so at Sonoma Raceway, holding off his brother Kurt. That sparked a stretch of four wins in five races for the 30-year-old, including three straight wins at Kentucky Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He nearly pulled off a fourth straight win at Pocono Raceway but ran out of gas on the final lap.

For the second half of the waiver requirement, Busch cracked the top 30 in points after the race at Watkins Glen International in August and secured his spot in the Chase after the Darlington race, which was the second-to-last race of the regular season.

The Chase provided an early test for Busch as a wreck at New Hampshire and a 37th-place finish left him on the outside looking in of advancing to the Contender Round heading to Dover International Speedway. However, he was able to rally to advance with a runner-up finish at the "Monster Mile."

Contact with Kyle Larson near the entrance of pit road at Charlotte in the Contender Round opener derailed a promising day for Busch and left him needing strong performances at Kansas Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway to make the Eliminator Round. Busch delivered at both, gaining the spots he needed late at Talladega, which was where he was involved in a wreck the previous year that took him out of the Chase.

Busch was a model of consistency in the Eliminator Round with three top-five finishes to advance on points to the Championship 4.

The title season was also a big one off the track for Busch as he and wife Samantha welcomed son Brexton in May, just days after Busch's return to competition.

The Sprint Cup championship is the first for crew chief Adam Stevens, who was in his first year as a pit boss in the Sprint Cup Series and the fourth (and first since 2005) for team owner Joe Gibbs.

Was hoping it was Jeff, but Kyle has earned it for sure.

Side note: though pretty, the Sprint Cup Girl that always stands behind the winner is a little disconcerting...in a "Stepford Wife" kinda way.

Good race, it was pretty clean the whole 400 miles, Kyle deserved the win, he earned the cup and he showed maturity as a race driver.

Gonna be hard to watch next year, there are a lot of changes in the wind.

Wow. That was so rude of Kyle. What was he thinking finishing the race in front of Kevin. He totally screwed up Harvick's strategy. Harvick's strategy was to finish in front.

Oh well. Maybe Harvick's strategy will work next year.

Congrats to stupid Kyle and his dumb car and his whole dopey team. An amazing come back.

I'll never eat another M&M again.

It's been a long few months. NASCAR comes back to Daytona on February 13. Jeff Gordon will be reporting and this is Tony Stewart's last year. Fingers crossed that it's going to be a good one.
