    RGIII’s season could be over.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cleveland Browns QB Robert Griffin III is now expected to miss 10-12 weeks with his should injury, which could ultimately end his season.

Griffin is on injured reserve but can return to practice in six weeks and game action after eight games if the Browns choose to designate him as their one player to return from IR.

Ravens assistant coach Brooks dies at 65

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Clarence Brooks, who served as a defensive line coach with the Baltimore Ravens for 11 years, has died at the age of 65.

The Ravens announced that Brooks died Saturday in Weston, Florida. He had esophageal and stomach cancer.

Brooks joined the Ravens in 2005. He coached the defensive line until this spring, when he underwent treatment for his illness. He transitioned into a senior defensive assistant role, but occasionally spent time with the team — including at training camp this summer.

His 24-year career as an NFL coach began in 1993 with the Chicago Bears. He also served as an assistant with Cleveland in 1999 and at Miami from 2000-04.

During his 11-year run as overseer of Baltimore's defensive front, the Ravens allowed the fewest rushing touchdowns and second-fewest rushing yards per game.

"We loved that man," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said. "One of the finest coaches I have ever met, he changed the lives and influenced players and coaches for the better."

General manager Ozzie Newsome said, "Very few, if any, coaches influenced their players — on and off the field — like Clarence Brooks."

Before coming to the NFL, Brooks coached in college at Arizona, Syracuse and Massachusetts.

He played guard at UMass from 1970-72 and was a team captain in his final season.

Born in New York on May 20, 1951, Brooks attended New Bedford (Mass.) High School, where he lettered in football and track and field.

"He was the sweetest man I've ever met in football," Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said. "He was also as tough as nails and was as respected by everyone on our team."

Seahawks' Wilson says he'll play Week 2
    The Canadian Press

RENTON, Wash. — Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson insists he'll be ready to play against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Wilson was a full participant in practice each of the past two days after suffering a sprained ankle in the third quarter of last week's game against the Miami Dolphins.

"I'll be ready to roll," Wilson said on Thursday. "I'm excited about it."

Wilson limped through the remainder of Seattle's 12-10 victory over the Dolphins after having the outside of his right heel stepped on by defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

The impact twisted Wilson's ankle heavily and limited his ability to move throughout the remainder of the game.

"It definitely hurt. That's for sure," Wilson said. "My mentality was (I was) going to stay in the game and find a way for us to win this game."

With his ankle limiting his ability to move in the pocket and scramble as usual, Wilson was still needed to drive 75 yards in just over four minutes to lead Seattle to victory. His 2-yard touchdown pass to Doug Baldwin with 31 seconds remaining gave Seattle the victory.

"I think really great performers find a way," coach Pete Carroll said. "You don't have to be 100 per cent all the time to operate at a really high level. That's part of what's going on."

It's the first time in Wilson's five seasons as quarterback that he's been listed on the team's injury report.

He's never missed a meaningful snap in 75 games — post-season included — because of an injury.

While he's played through a sore non-throwing shoulder before, the ankle injury was the first issue he's had as a professional to truly bring his availability into question.

"Right now we're expecting him to be full-go," offensive co-ordinator Darrell Bevell said.

"I don't think he has any different thoughts than that. He's amazing in his preparation. He's probably not even sleeping with all the rehab that he's doing. I expect him to be ready to go."

Wilson said Bevell isn't far from the truth regarding his sleep this week.

"I don't think I've really slept more than six hours all week," he said. "Probably slept two hours every night so far just trying to do everything I can to make sure I'm at my best come Sunday."

Wilson was initially in a walking boot after the game Sunday night.

However, by Monday morning he was able to leave the boot behind and progress in the rehab process. He's even brought his off-season mobility trainer, Drew Morcos, up to Seattle to help make sure he'll be ready to play in Los Angeles.

"That's what the doctors and trainers have all been saying is they're kind of shocked it's doing this well," Wilson said. "Really not any swelling at all or anything like that because I got on it right away and have been hammering it right away."

Wow, all Cousins needed was one lousy yard on 2 tries but Dallas stood them up and takes over possession with under 2 minutes left and a 27-23 lead. Looks like Dallas might get their 1st win today ...

    Hmm, Dallas sucks lol.

Washington gets one more kick at the can with a 90 yard field and 1 1/2 minutes to score a major ...

True enough but at least they play entertaining football, unless you are actually part of the Dog Pound and stay til the end

Your favorite Rams are holding their own against the Seahawks though and are at the Seattle 4 yard line at the 2 minute warning. 3-3 so far.

But it's early and they have another half to fuck things up lol.

But they went on to win against Miami. An ugly, ugly game, but the Pats' third string rookie quarterback managed to finish it with the Pats 2-0 against Miami veteran Tannehill.

Also, Garappolo has come back testing negative for broken bones. Unlikely he'll be back for the next game-- it is Thursday night on a short rest-- but his return is not ruled out.

While he played, he dominated. He scored three touchdowns on three possessions and held Miami to just four minutes on the field, deep into the second quarter.

He did well and padded a nice lead for the replacement to work with but it wasn't a runaway by any means with a 7 point win.

The good thing about short weeks so early in the season is that you have 10 days before the next game ... plenty of time to recover for game 4 and then the fun starts with Brady being available to return for game 5.

Garapollo was so dominant in the first quarter that there was actually social media fan buzz, speculating on how much he must be worth in trade, and whether Brady is over the hill, and whether Brady should even start in game 5, if Garrapolo continued his dominant play in 3 and 4.

All the buzz stopped dead when G. crumpled in that big hit. Someone in our party said, "I guess we should hold onto Brady for a little while longer!"

It's worth noting that the third stringer-- a career-first rookie named Brisset-- also played very well. Extraordinarly well, considering he's had almost zero practice reps, being the third stringer. The team as a whole did nearly lose, but it was no fault of Brisset's. The near-loss was the result of a second half defensive meltdown. Tannehill found his stride and walked all over the Patriots defense in the second half.

A lot of factors involved in defenses letting down their guard later in games. They get tired and can't recover as fast in the second half as they can earlier in the game.

My football club up here uses that to our advantage a lot and we wear down other clubs over time with complicated blocking strategies and then go in for the kill late when they are less sharp, plus I have the best QB in the CFL to do my bidding lol. Doesn't hurt when you get spoiled from previously having Jeff Garcia and Doug Flutie as my pivots ...

The Patriots will be just fine with a deep roster.

Doug Flutie! A Massachusetts boy! Natick, MA!

He was a powerhouse in CFL.

Shame he couldn't make a career in the states. They say he was too short for NFL. Maybe that's true, maybe it's not. But every time he took the field, in whatever capacity, he was a powerhouse.

Couldn't make a career in the NFL?

I think he disproved that idea quite thoroughly.
