  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

March for Science: Rallies worldwide to protest against political interference http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-39679629

Outside of climate change and the few people who don't believe in evolution how is science even seriously questioned? It's almost a religion in its own right .

I was trained in chemistry and have worked in this industry for years and I cannot think of a single chemical principle that ha ever seriously been questioned in that time.

I'm really not trying to be provocative here it's just that I don't see it.

Because the politicians and others who question science are the same ones who did poorly in science subjects in school. Or if they believed they might have to change their business practices to something less profitable. This holds true in poorer countries. Those in charge just want what the richer countries have. Science and greed have been on a long slide into colliding. We are nearing that point.

Science stopped being objective a long time ago .

It's been bought out by the left and the right depending on which ever direction the political breeze was blowing.

Lately I think it's the liberals Who hold the receipts .

Anti-vaxxers seem like a pretty big one.

    Anti-GMO is another one.

GMO's I sort of get. Like I'd be concerned with them escaping into the environment and causing changes in unexpected ways, sort of like how killer bees (sometimes called "Africanized bees") were made by breeding the Western honeybee with native African bees and European honeybees. These new bees made lots of honey, like European bees, and worked very fast like African bees. But they were also, super crazy aggressive. The original idea was that the gentleness and honey production of the European bee, and the fast work of the African bee would be inherited. Instead we got psychotically aggressive bees that will follow you for miles and can kill a horse.

So GMO's can in fact be dangerous, but not in ways some people might think. Eating some corn that's been spliced with bacteria that makes it more resistant to pests by allowing it to produce a pesticide, thus reducing the need to be sprayed, probably isn't going to turn you into a plant monster or a zombie. But then you've also got situations like a GM bacteria that makes plants more resistant to frost damage escaping into the environment and making weeds also resistant to frost. Now you've got weeds that are can survive winter and now you have to use weed killer on them, and the weed killer's gonna get on your crops. But dammit, the weed killer is too strong so now your crops are dying, so you have to create a GM plant that is resistant to frost AND weed killer, and still make sure that neither of those genes or resistances escape into the environment. And all you wanted to do originally was find a way to protect your strawberries from old man winter.

That's the kind of stuff I'm concerned about when it comes to GMO foods. I'm ok with eating them. I'm fine with them being used. But you better make sure you don't end up fucking up the environment.

I have to give you some props when it comes to vaccinations.

It's a tricky area for me because parents should have rights to protect their children as they see fit but it appears that there have to be a significant number of people vaccinated to protect the general public.

I was raised to believe that I should expose myself as much as possible to other children and even rusty nails because that is natural vaccination .

Supposedly polio tended to affect richer people because they overly protected their children so I guess there is some evidence for the veracity of that argument but that may only apply to polio .

It's a very complicated situation but thank you for reminding me .

We haven't had a horrible flu pandemic in 100 years so now we're overdue . I have some mixed opinions about how effective vaccination will be for a pandemic that has already begun .

Getting tetanus to become immune to it is not very wise.

Cynical or not, I'd sure like to see someone give an answer to my question.

I wont get an answer, everything is and has political motivations.

I find that is it more so on the left side of this Nations political spectrum, and that is NOT a biased speculation or observation.

The left controls the media, the left controls the activist judicial system, they control the classrooms, the control unions, science, all of it.

I'm uh, I'm not sure using rusty nails is an effective method to administer a vaccination. Seems like a good way to end up paralyzed with tetanus though. And then dead.

I was trained as a scientist and I know I'm going to be attacked for this because I am not at all convinced of the truth of climate change .

Bothers me about it is that it is presented as unassailable Scientific truth when I don't see that as the case at all.

Yes I believe that climate change is a product of the left and the university system knows which side the bread is buttered on.

Evolution seems to fit in the puzzle of the development of life which doesn't mean that it's true but it means that it makes sense because it fits .

But it's hard enough to predict the weather for the next month or so so it seems arrogant to assume that we can know how weather actually works on a grand scale .

I believe that at 700 million years ago The entire earth was covered in miles of ice . No one doubts that another Ice Age will be coming but we don't know when .

    Weather changes

It's hard to accept you are trained in science if you take issue with an established consensus in an area outside of your speciality. And if you don't understand the difference between weather and climate.

Stepping on rusty nails is clearly child endangerment. I was just saying that I came from one of those families that was suspicious of the fear of any kind of germs

I have a hard time understanding the fuss about vaccinations. If you want to get your kid vaccinated go ahead. If you choose not to get your kid vaccinated that is your right.
Those who choose to have their kids vaccinated should not complain as the shots should protect your kids. Those who choose to pass on the shots are willing to take that chance.

Climate change is a money making scheme. We have been shown how scientist have cooked the book on their studies. Is the world changing? Hell yes. It always has been abd is not going to stop changing just because some people want it to.

Please educate yourself. Herd immunity is the concept that vulnerable populations who can't be vaccinated, such as the immunocompromised, infants etc.., are protected from the spread of disease by everyone else around them being vaccinated.

So you are saying, everyone else should get their kid vaccinated so my unvaccinated kid will not get sick?

      msman, Apr 22, 2017
    4. readytoplease092
Yes. Everyone who can be vaccinated should be. This is to protect those who, for medical reasons, cannot be.

If your kid couldn't be vaccinated, you'd want everyone else around them to be, right? Wouldn't it be unacceptable to you for your kid to get sick or die because someone chose not to vaccinate?

And if your child is killed or injured by contacting a disease that could have been prevented or lessened by immunisation, you should go to jail.

Maybe the parents who choose not to vaccinate their kids think you should keep your child away from their kids.
That would work out alright. Your kid would not be exposed and they would not be forced into doing something they are against.

If it just affected the children not vaccinated I would agree with you entirely.
My problem is that there are many who believe that there is a critical percentage of children who are vaccinated or need to be vaccinated to actually protect the general public . Now that being said it's entirely possible that this is another example of the science books being cooked . I honestly don't know and that's what's bad about science right now. Some would say science is settled on so many issues like I Q and race and all those other things that we've talked about so much . Just like the weather it will always change and it always will. just like the weather it will always change and it always world

We completely agree on climate change It appears. And what really irks me about the climate change debate is the China is a bigger emitter than the United States and has no real plans to lower its emissions. So why put ourselves at a competitive disadvantage for no real benefit ?

    Give me a break!

Weather is short term and climate is a long-term and it is a simple as that and that is not rocket science .

Pointed out that 700 million years ago the earth was a huge snowball .

When dinosaurs roamed the earth probably the entire earth was warm.

Climate changes and weather changes .

Very little of it has to do with what humans do.

I think thar climate change is an arrogance that we have permitted ourselves.

Makes us feel like we are in control of something.

But mostly from a political standpoint it just gives the larger emitters like China a huge competitive advantage .

Jesse Ventura had a show called conspiracy theory in which he said that all of this climate change debate came about from some guy named Maurice strong who has an agenda to bring down the west by giving underdeveloped nations like china a distinct competitive advantage.

Don't Believe in conspiracy theories at all but this is one of the more interesting ones if nothing else it's a good story .
