Well now that they are back to posting regularly again, you can't really stay on top anyway can you? realistically? I mean unless you can keep your story at 100% all the time.
I HAVE noticed that they seem to have turned off the anonymous commenting on everything though.

 

I took a 6 negative vote hit in less than 8 hours. I went from 4 negative votes on a story to 10 negative votes. None of those 6 negative votes were registered members where 1 vote actually counts as four votes. All registered votes show as positive. It's a story I did not expect to do real well because there is no penetrative sex involved, but it dropped 5 points because of it and got more negative votes in 8 hours than it did the previous 36 hours. I found out last night that ratings are broken anyway. Not just because of troll voting, but they way they are calculated, so who knows what is accurate?

I noticed I had multiple tabs open showing story stats:
The first one, opened earlier said "Pete and Amy Part 2 had: 2688 Reads, 37 Positives, 3 Negatives for a total of 92.5% which is correct for 40 votes total at 37/40
The second tab opened later said: Pete and Amy Part 2 had: 2874 Reads, 37 Positives, 4 Negatives for a total of 92.7% Which is incorrect for 41 votes at 37/41

I have also notice the number of positive or negative votes dropping then going back up when flipping through multiple tabs. Between trolls and the pages itself, I do not trust ratings, it's just a shame our stories show up in a higher or lower position on the list based on ratings when rating do not even work because of poor programming or trolls.

 

Turning off anonymous commenting may stop some troll and spam posts. The downside is it means casual readers who don't join the site can't comment. That could possibly encourage someone to become a regular member and to discover other stories (and a lot more) here in the forums, but some people don't want to "officially" join a porn site. They might get frustrated with the whole thing and find another erotic literature site where they CAN comment anonymously and leave little trace of their activity for people they know to find.

Oh well, good with the bad.

 

yeah, not complaining, just noticed that. I have a couple with 40 and 50 comments, mostly spam, one with an obvious computer error that just put up like 30 messages of code. But lately have received maybe two comments and those have actual names on them.
I have seen what you mean about the ratings though. But like I said, if they're posting more every day you could never stay on top for long anyway. Especially as votes accumulate. The more you have/get, the harder it is to raise your percentage. It's a losing battle anyway.

 

wow. seeing what you mean about the ratings thing now. Just saw one story go from around 90% to 83% in ten minutes. How the heck does that happen? (it had hovered around 90-90.5 for days, then drops 7 full points?) strange.

 

One of mine did that the other day. One thing I keep in mind is when the total vote count is low, it's only takes one or two votes to drop it a lot. I've also noticed it's broken anyway. The percentage is not figured correctly sometimes. I have an example in a comment above where one negative vote bumped me up .2 %

 

yeah .2% i've seen, but 7 FULL points? I had two of them do that tonight. But I've also seen that top listing page show the first one as 89% and then the next three as 95%, so I think the whole thing is broken anyway. Whatever. not gonna stress about it. Just surprised.

One story has a rating of 92.5% then gets read 186 more times and then gets 1 more negative vote and the ratings goes UP by .2%? The extra negative vote should have dropped the rating instead.

 

Must be some kind of remedial math.
I didn't note the vote count on either of these stories before and after, but a 7 point drop in ten minutes is crazy. Unless of course someone just REALLY hated that story. and it's only two of them. Very strange.

 

Maybe it's done with common core math.

I would like to add my rant to this thread. If a reader wants to give a negative rating to a story, they should leave some explanation as to why. Wall of text, poor grammer, not enough sex or just didn't like the story. Good feedback can help to improve the quality of the stories on this site. Negative ratings with no explanation can make a first time writer stay just that, a first and only time writer regardless of how well written the story is.

 

I have just begun posting stories and have run into the same thing. I am almost sure I have some trolls following my stories. As one comment above said, who would put negative votes on 10 chapters? Why keep reading? I think if a negative vote required a comment, at least others could see what their issue was and agree or not (the writer, too). Anyone else run into TwatSwat123?
