I can make a bigger list of reasons not to go there than reasons to go there.

 

Sure but keep in mind that with Prop 13, property taxes are lower for long time residents than many other states because they can't keep raising rates astronomically. Texas probably has as many illegals and California is a big state. It's not all rush hour traffic on the I-10. lol There are many small towns and communities all over the state as well as magnificent countrysides and parks.
Yes, it's a high cost of living. Location, location, location. If you can't afford it, you move to Texas or Ohio or something.

Haven't been to California for a couple of decades! First time there was back in 1956 and I wasn't impressed -- found everywhere to be very countrified (I was only 15/16). After that, went to San Francisco on business in 1974 when there were people passing out poems. Met a young poet, spent the night talking poetry and fucking. Went to work the next morning and she was the supervisor of the department I was restructuring. The best business trip I ever had! We spent every off hour together for three weeks.

 

You need your head examined to live near the San Andreas fault.

I've never visited California but want to. I hear that driving the Pacific Coast Highway is incredible.

 

I love California. What I love most is it's waaaaaaaay the hell over there, and I'm on the east coast.

 

Given all the people completely addicted to crystal meth and their ruined lives it's clear that they know how to party the problem is they don't know how to stop partying

 

I guess the high rate of millionaire households dispels that myth.
