Fuck anyone who has ever actually worked for a living knows better than that. Working people have federal withholding taxes taken out of their checks every single payday and they never get all those taxes refunded. What a stupid piece of lying shit.

And now secondly what has become another feature on the Rachel Maddow show is stupid Republicans getting cheers in town hall meetings saying they think Trump should release his tax returns and they go back to DC and vote AGAINST forcing Trump to release his taxes. And it does not look like that is going to end anytime soon because the Democrats are forcing Republicans to vote on that about once a week.

The Rachel Maddow Show set ratings records on Tuesday thanks to its Trump tax return episode. Wednesday’s show, however, experienced a major ratings dropoff.

The episode was down -36 percent in total viewers from Tuesday, and down -9 percent in total viewers from the previous Wednesday. The audience decline was even sharper when it came to adults 25-54, a category which includes marginal TV news consumers who are more likely to watch when there’s a noteworthy event transpiring. In the A25-54 demo, Wednesday’s episode was down -54 percent from Tuesday, and down -16 percent from the prior Wednesday.

Rachel Maddow Wins 3rd Consecutive Week in Younger Viewers

MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show is on a roll. Maddow has had the most-watched cable news show in the younger demo for the third week in a row. The last time Maddow won three weeks in a row in the A25-54 demo were the weeks of Dec. 17, 25 and 31, 2012.

Maddow averaged 678,000 viewers for her 9 p.m. ET show. Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson, which also airs at 9 p.m., came in second in the demo, averaging 629,000.

The O’Reilly Factor maintained its run as the most-watched among total viewers (O’Reilly hosted his show three days last week, Monday-Wednesday).

For the first quarter, O’Reilly was No. 1 in both total viewers and the demo, while Maddow was No. 2 in both. We’ll have the full quarterly ratings for all the cable news networks tomorrow.

Lots of people tried to condemn Rachel Maddow and the show she did on one of Trump's leaked tax returns even though it was probably Trump who leaked them himself. But that show and that single tax return is still paying dividends because even that one tax return proves Trump will personally rake in millions if his tax proposal makes it through congress.

Trump Could Save Tens of Millions of Dollars in One Year Under His Proposed Tax Plan

President Trump could save tens of millions of dollars in a single year under his proposed changes to the tax code, a New York Times analysis has found.

On Wednesday, the White House announced a sweeping plan to cut a variety of taxes that would overwhelmingly benefit the wealthy. The estimated savings for Mr. Trump rely on his income and other information from his 2005 federal tax return and compare what his tax burden would be under the proposal to current law. Mr. Trump’s 2005 return is the most recent available publicly and was released in March by the former New York Times reporter David Cay Johnston.

These estimates, done with the help of Robert Willens, an accounting expert, provide a view into how high-income earners like Mr. Trump could benefit from the proposal. They do not take into account other potential planning techniques that wealthy taxpayers often use.

When asked at a news conference on Thursday, Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, did not directly address how the plan would affect Mr. Trump. “The president’s plan right now is something that every American should worry, hopefully, about how it’s going to affect them,” Mr. Spicer said.

The decades-old Alternative Minimum Tax is meant to prevent America’s wealthiest from using deductions to pay very low or no federal income tax. In 2005, it accounted for about 80 percent of Mr. Trump’s overall income tax payment. His plan to repeal the tax would save him $31.3 million.

Mr. Trump’s proposed changes could allow individuals to qualify for a significantly reduced tax rate of 15 percent on certain types of income they receive through business partnerships and similar entities. High-income earners currently face tax rates as high as 39.6 percent.

Mr. Trump could save as much as $10.4 million on business income and $16.6 million on income from real estate and other kinds of partnerships under this plan, compared with his tax burden under current law. (In 2005, much of this taxable income was offset by a $103.2 million write-down in business losses.)

Mr. Trump would probably lose most of the deductions he reported in 2005. Depending on his effective tax rate under the proposal, Mr. Trump could pay roughly $3 million to $5 million more in taxes.

As a resident of New York City, the largest portion of Mr. Trump’s deductions probably came from his local and state income taxes. Under his proposal, only mortgage interest, charitable giving and retirement contributions would be deductible.

In the Affordable Care Act, Congress introduced a 3.8 percent tax on investment income, which took effect in 2013. Repealing the tax could save about $1.5 million for someone with Mr. Trump’s investment income.

The proposal to reduce the highest tax rate from 39.6 percent to 35 percent would save high-income earners similar to Mr. Trump a relatively small amount compared with the repeal of the Alternative Minimum Tax. The $500,000 in savings is a rough estimate because Mr. Trump has not specified income levels for his proposed tax brackets.

Though it would not be reflected on his income tax return, Mr. Trump’s proposal to eliminate the estate tax would provide the largest tax savings. If his property—reportedly valued at $3 billion—were transferred after his death under today’s rules, his estate would be taxed at around 40 percent. Repealing the federal estate tax could save his family nearly $1.2 billion, though it could still be subject to New York estate taxes.

April 2017 Ratings: MSNBC is Thriving in Prime Time Thanks to Rachel Maddow

MSNBC defeated CNN in prime time this past month, both in total audience and in the ad-friendly A25-54 demo.

The network also continues to post more year-over-year prime time audience growth than both Fox News and CNN: +82 percent in total viewers and +61 percent in the prime time demo versus April 2016. Additionally, MSNBC posted double digit year-over-year audience growth across total day, but finished behind CNN when it came to A25-54 viewers across total day.

The network’s prime time ratings surge is primarily driven by Rachel Maddow. In weekday prime time hours, MSNBC was the 2nd most-watched network in all of cable for the third straight month, behind only Fox News.

The average impressions for April 2017 (Nielsen Live + Same Day data):

Prime time (Mon-Sun): 1,564,000 total viewers / 359,000 A25-54

Total Day (Mon-Sun): 823,000 total viewers / 186,000 A25-54

Maddow hosted the No. 1 cable news show for the month of April among regularly scheduled cable news series in the key A25-54 demo. But when you combine The Factor with Tucker Carlson’s recent numbers in the 8 p.m. hour, Maddow actually finishes runner up in the demo by 13,000 viewers (575,000 vs. 562,000).

TRMS also posted more year-over-year total viewer growth than its 9 p.m. competition.

Elsewhere in MSNBC prime, The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell continues to show ratings improvement, and beat CNN in the 10 p.m. hour across the board for the second consecutive month. All In With Chris Hayes beat AC360 in total viewers, but fell short among adults 25-54. Like so many other MSNBC shows, All In posted more year-over-year audience growth than its timeslot competition.

In the mornings, Morning Joe defeated CNN’s New Day in total viewers for the 26th consecutive month. The program grew double digits in overall audience and in the A25-54 demo this past month versus April 2016. That said, Joe fell short to New Day in the demo that matters to advertisers of news.
