From everything I have been reading and observed Trump's mental illness requires constant reaffirming and he needs constant adulation to keep him from going off the deep end.. In fact reports from inside the White House said his family and closest advisors actually met and decided they needed to get some campaign rallies scheduled to boost his sagging ego before he collapsed.

And if we look there is ample evidence of that. Because it is very common for presidents to hit the trail and hold rallies to try and drum up support for major legislation. And President Obama not only did that he was really good at it.

And while that was the excuse for Trump's last rallies that is not what he did. Instead of trying to sell the GOP healthcare bill all Trump did was hold his same old campaign stump .lashing out at anything and everything and trying to get the crowd to cheer.

And GOP{ members of congress where not only dismayed and betrayed by that it has actually caused many more of them to question his co competency.

According to statistics compiled for a book to be published this summer, the president has already set a record for total first-term fundraisers — 191 — and that’s only through March 6. Measured in terms of events that benefit his reelection bid, Obama’s total (inflated in part by relaxed fundraising rules) exceeds the combined total of George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter.

It’s not just the gatherings officially categorized as campaign events. To a greater extent than his predecessors, Obama has used the trappings of his office to promote his reelection prospects even while handling taxpayer-funded business.

According to the same book, “The Rise of the President’s Permanent Campaign,” by Naval Academy political scientist Brendan Doherty, Obama was the first commander in chief in at least 32 years to visit all of the presidential battleground states during his first year in office. He has kept that pace, devoting nearly half of his travel to 15 swing states that account for just over a third of the population.

The PR hacks would like to lie and say all President Obama did was campaign. Not true at all. But when President Obama did campaign he did it better than any president I have ever seen.

For example when the Democrats were working the ACA the Republicans even started screaming where is President Obama on this. Well President Obama was actually behind closed doors cutting deals with the stakeholders many of which we progressives hated. But they were political necessities to get it passed. And then they called President Obama out to try and sell it to the public so he would have to own it. And they were sorry they did. Because President Obama hit the trail sold it to the American people and pushed the ACA over the top.

But the only time President Obama really campaigned was during the presidential election and once again was masterful at it and won convincingly.

While Trump has never stopped campaigning because that's all he can do and needs it for his ego.

But he couldn't even sell replacement of "repeal and Replace Obamacare in to his own party.

Next up tax reform defeat.

PS Trump is now being polite but still blaming everyone but him self and refusing to take any personal responsibility.

 

It's the only hope he has of getting the ego boost he needs to survive ,
and calm his paranoia enough to stay in his delusional bubble.

Where else can he appear to get majority approval , and unconditional adulation.

 

Just how many of those were within 30 days of taking office?

Obama No Longer A Candidate, But Still Campaigning

After only a few weeks in office, President Obama hit the campaign trail again, this time to pitch his stimulus package.

For his first event speaking to voters outside of Washington, he came to Elkhart, Indiana and spoke in the same high school gym where Candidate Obama spoke in August.

President Obama emerged from the cocoon of the both the White House and the 77-day transition before that, looking and acting like the powerful orator he was on the campaign. To a passionate crowd of 1,700 locals, the President emerged to shrieks, screams and chants of "Obama, Obama, Obama."

After a series of thank yous from the new President, the crowd settled in to hear how their town has quickly become the first stop on the Obama economic stimulus sales wagon.

After the speech, which had the feel of a late in the campaign rally, President Obama did something for the first time since he moved into "the people's house" as he called it, he took questions from the audience.

While his first event could have been more regal, this one was somber and with purpose. The President is traveling outside of Washington earlier than had been expected, with additional trips to Florida and Illinois this week, and many observers say it's out of necessity.

The road is not easy, and the President today for the first time, and not the last, hit the trail to sell his bill of goods, much as he did last fall - selling himself. Now, he's got the job and has to rally the same support that got him into the White House to get him success there.

Trump likes to do what he is good at. He is proving that he was a much better campaigner for president than a president. He is discovering that being president is hard work.

It is more difficult to convince Congressional representatives than unemployed factory and mine workers who are so desperate that they will believe the fantasies he told them.
