Common decency and respect for society is disappearing these days.

That one in Thousand Oaks was especially fucked up though because the guy clearly had major PTSD. Those poor clubgoers.

 

And as per schedule, they'll try to make it a gun issue. As Shooter says: wait for it.
I'm thinking the drugs we numb people with these days. There's an AWFUL lot of money in them...follow the money.

I really don't know why people keep comparing random violence to what happens in inner cities. Yes, innocent bystanders do get hit sometimes. But nobody is going around shooting people at random, probably because they would be found somewhere not long after that.

My area is not ghetto at all but there have been multiple shootings in recent years in adjacent areas on almost all sides. Does it freak me out a bit to hear about some shooting out in public in an area I either currently do or did frequent for years? Absolutely. But it's part of a trend I saw coming a long time ago, and I simply avoid certain places late at night and others when the high school kids are out wildin out.

With random violence like this though, it isn't contained. It isn't logical. It often isn't even targeted. There's absolutely no way to avoid being a victim of it. It's just luck.

 

@Sia. made a good point one time about how we are almost constantly looking at screens and don't consider how it may affect us. I'm not saying that is a direct correlation to the fact that so many mostly suburban or rural people feel it's perfectly acceptable to go out in public and even so much as simply kill one person they want to kill in public rather than in private like they used to but I have to think that when you combine that with all of the content and influences we are constantly bombarded with and the fact that most people are almost never free from it, it absolutely ties into this.

 

So should people taking "happy drugs" be allowed to have guns? You know on the Federal forms they ask if you use Marijuana and if you say yes then no gun. And if you say no and you do smoke Marijuana or have been busted for it you just committed a felony.

 

Think this should only be reported locally, to avoid any copycats. Also these events are no longer 'NEWS'. Unfortunately theres nothing 'NEW' about these events, they are nearer normal now. 'NEWS' means a new story. Sorry, but here in Europe, we roll our eyes in boredom, because U.S. society chooses to ignore the obvious and make these events a very rare thing as it is in Europe. The shock value went years ago. Would love to holiday in the U.S. but the guns put me off the idea of it!

 

I actually tend to agree. The wall to wall coverage of these mass shootings on every fucking network I think just helps inspire the next mass shooter because they want to be famous too.

But this mass shooting was a little bit different. Compared to others the coverage was very light. And I don't know if that is because they got smarter about how to cover them from now on. Or if for some reason I haven't figured out yet this one just didn't seem as important to them.

After twenty years on the job, i hate to admit but some things still make me shake my head. I didn’t hear the term active shooter until Columbine and now i hear about them daily. We used to carry just 18 bullets and now have close to 100 rounds between my weapon, duty belt and active shooter go bag in the car. The worst part Is the victims are never targeted (unless they are cops) and just happen to be somewhere when one of these assholes decides its their day to either kill themselves and take as many out as they can or just to go out and live out their fucked up fantasy. I do not think I will ever understand and I really do not want to get to the place where I just accept that this is going to be the new normal.

Yesterday there was a few mentions of some guy shooting people at a bank And then I start seeing and reading the reports this morning and it was like WTF do you mean this guy walked into a bank, killed 5 random people, and barricaded himself in with what could have been a hostage situation and I am just learning this this morning???

What ever happened to mass shooter wall to wall coverage on every channel?

Are we to assume mass shootings in Florida just aren't news any longer?
