My take.... Sen McCain sacrificed a great deal as a POW during Vietnam... He was torchered beyond belief.. He lived thru it, They did not break him... That my fiends is something every single American should hold in the highest regard. Yes... The term HERO can and should be used in reference to his military service.

THEN THINGS CHANGED....

I think his first few terms as an elected official he did good work.. He was a stand up guy.. He had his principles and he lived by them.. To hell with what other thought... That is Admirable and deserving of respect... Things started to change.. I think he began to feel entitled to his position... He really was never challenged... He would say the right things.. get another term... He railed against Obama Care.. Voting several times for its repeal... Then, When his vote would REALLY REALLY matter... he blinked... That is NOT what HEROS do... Now we find out he was an integral part of the beginning of this whole Russia Collusion thing.. getting that pack of lies into the hands it needed to getinto to start this whole waste of time money and effort...

In the end Sen McCain was just another piece of shit politician that cared more about lining his own pockets then he did about anything else... Sad really.... Dont even get me started on his FUCKED IN THE HEAD DAUGHTER....

Compared to Donald Trump? Definitely a Hero. Compared to thousands of other veterans not so much. Touting ones military service or allowing any one else to do it for you, is something that should always be avoided.
Fifty-eight thousand two hundred and twenty Americans never made it home. George Bush Sr. and Kennedy were shamelessly made out to be war heroes rather than just doing their bit.
Perhaps it's Hollywood pandering to the public need for a hero that is responsible. I don't see Donald Trump going down in history as any type of hero. Well billionaires may disagree.

 

McCain is dead, Donny keeps attacking him because Donny is a lesser man. McCain stood tall while in the service. His vote on the ACA repeal and replace was the act of a good man, since the Trump Cult had nothing to replace it with.

In my eyes, every honorably discharged veteran is a hero, even those who were drafted versus volunteering. Their service, no matter how brief, helped to protect our lives and freedom.

Those who used their wealth or privilege to avoid military service are the worst kind of cowards.

No matter what one thinks of McCain, it is ridiculous that such a dishonorable character as Trump feels that he is qualified to register any opinion at all about ANYONE else since his own behavior is so horrible. He is a pathological liar and an awful bully. I could never respect such a low-life who shows such little respect for others.

 

Cancer may have played a part in McCain's change from hero to idiot.
It should be very easy for everyone to see that when he picked his vice president.

 

McCain was indeed a hero.
He served his country for most of his life with distinction and honor. He sacrificed much defending this country and what it stands for.

One does not have to agree with his politics to see McCain as a hero.

One should be able to disagree with McCain's politics and not be villified by trump haters.

But then, freedom of speech is one of the things McCain fought and sacrificed for.

Senator McCain served his country in uniform.

Who his ancestors were is irrelevant.

Anyone's opinion of his success or failure while in uniform is irrelevant. He was discharged honorably and did not shy away from danger.

Anyone's opinion of him as a politician is irrelevant.

That he willingly served his country in uniform is the only issue that matters when considering whether to call him a hero or not.

 

I don't know why trump went down this road again , I guess he trying to prove a point , that most smart people already know . Mc Cain was a guy who fooled me till I seen him debate Obama .
