This person has violated the forum rules with nothing but hateful posts, and in my opinion should be banned.

I have no idea who this person is, but I really don't believe in banning anyone. I mostly stay in GD.... There's been a few that I was glad to see go!!!

I've seen this person's posts... but nonetheless, I'm not in favour of banning.

The internet is a place of free speech. And I'm sure there's been discussions like this before, about certain people, and mods have come in and basically said 'we do not ban on opinion polls'. I do know that the mods have a policy of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' and try to aim for a minimum interference stance.

 

its probably a chick who was banned for being underaged peviously. i had several conversations with people last night, and apparently, there's several of them floating around lately.

I think that, unfortunately, this is one of those issues that can be argued either way.

I mean, I would certainly rather that Siinide shut up. But I think that just ignoring him is a more productive way of shutting him up, rather than just banning. If they're banned, they just come back. If tthey're on everyone's ignore list, however, there's no... incentive.

While I can see the benefit of banning a member for flagrant abuse of others, I have seen that purely banning a username cannot guarantee the flamer will not create another user account.. This is a free site, and I personally prefer it to sites where you have to pay..!!

However, letting the flamer rant away in threads they visit for that express purpose can only be a bad thing, if it means that people like FG are chased away, even briefly.. Don't forget that all members have the right to 'free speech' and none should be pushed into a corner where the only available option to them is to leave..

I have not attempted, before last night, to jump over the flamers. But there was just something there, some devil inside me last night that lead my fingers a dance over the keys.. But even that grew tiring after a while, when I saw the main flamer using less and less vowels in their speech, and their grammer and spelling became harder to decipher..

Flamers can also be played into a corner, one username at a time.. when the head on approach fails, then cunning should be used instead.. the queen of the dance last night got real quiet real quick I noticed.. kind of died right out straight away.

These are my sentiments on banning someone also. And I would point out that also included in the rules is the statement that we are all adults here, which to me at least implies we should be able to just ignore the nastiness and not feed the trolls.
