banning the haters???

i hate it when people get on this site and read stories in a certain genre just for the sole purpose of bashing them. Dont they realize that the very fact that they clicked on and read them stories speaks volumes about who they are inside. Something drew them to this site, to those stories. They have trouble accepting who they really and their own desires so the belittle others. We see right through them. If they want to waste their time then more power to them. They are so insignifigant. And with each hatefull post, i can only laugh at their ignorance.

 

And that's the way to take it. We will never escape the asshole per capita ratio. There are always going to be those who think putting other people down makes them bigger. But they only have the power we give them and ignoring them gives them no power at all and being happy with yourself and life in general just drives them nuts. That's the best revenge.

Back to the Topic if I may be so bold, topic in general not re Siinide, who seems to have disappeared anyway.

Banning, it has been stated by Nophest himself, I believe I am correct, reasons are:

SPAMMING, UNDERAGE, RACIST POSTS, HATEFUL POSTS,

MERE INSULTING POSTS ARE TO BE ALLOWED SINCE WE CAN DEAL WITH IT BY IGNORING (not by nophest this:and not feeding the trolls (by many members)

Granted the Hateful Post does not have solid boundaries, but if a new member does nothing but hateful posts with nothing positive ever posted, it would seem good reason for us to not have to put up with them.

Nuff said, and frequently the really obnoxious ones dont last long, their mommies take their computers away from them.

 

Then please learn from him Z and stop advocating censorship by calling for other members to get banned. Help us instead to learn how to ignore them and see the problem for what it really is. It's not the assholes because they are just a fact of life. It's how we respond to them, when not responding at all is what works.

If all members would do that consistently instead of buying into their hateful games and feeding them these people would be completely impotent and just fade away.

 

You both misquote the rule and contradict youself at the same time Z.

Here's the rule you are referring to which is vague at best but certianly indicates to me that we should be adults enough to put up with people we don't agree with.

No stupid hateful posts though you are free to be harsh and even insulting if it is appropriate. We are all adults anyway right? we can handle it.

Let's be adults then and handle it without constantly calling for members to be banned when ignoring them is the only thing that really works.

What you are advocating is some fuzzy standard that sets you and others up as the judge and juries of what is and is not stupid and hateful while appling that standard arbitrarily, when there are plenty of stupid and hateful posters that enjoy complete immunity because they have friends here.

With all your life's experiences and the discrimination you have personally experienced I can not understand how you can advocate censorship and discrimination against others just because you don't like what they have to say.

Were's the rule that says we all have to be nice? Its not there.

And I would also point out that if you read your own thread the majority of forum members oppose banning. I think that should reflect our democratic values where the majority rules, and free speech is cherished.

 

You are nitpicking my friend, my quote has the general gist of what was said. I did not say we all hve to be nice, either. I do not advocate banning except for the reasons given by Nophest.

As for as opinions go, lots of people disagree with me and vice versa, I respect their opinion as most of them seem to respect mine, but I see no point in some of the discussions such as re GOD that go on here, except that their are FUN for the people participating. And I am sure that they know the devout Christian is not going to convert the devout Atheist or vice versa, but it is fun to argue points with each other.

I'm really glad you pointed that out Z and it's resurrection sure goes a long way to proving at least some of your criticisms in the OP.

I still remain opposed to banning but can see where your dislike seems justified.
