To understand this site is to understand the imbecilic nature of human beings. "Your characters are too perfect," was a critique. Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know I should have made my characters blonde hair, blue eyed, 10 inch cocks who fuck like rabbits..... Wait.... I don't. Not like the majority of stories on here. Lol.

Funny how the the ridiculous is upheld in such high regard and those that make well-thought work get scorned. Or the fact that a publication gets 5 down votes in a span of 30-minutes. Lol

I now know what JAshley felt like when She's the One was massively downvoted when it was CLEARLY an amazing tale.

@Red Czar same thing happened to me. I had a story that was consistently high for about two weeks, collected over a thousand votes, then in the space of ten minutes, it got loaded with negatives until it wasn't even visible. I literally watched it go from 95.5% to 93% with sixty negatives. It was really discouraging at the time, but it also put into perspective what writing means for me. Did I do it for myself, or for the validation of others? My most popular story at the time, "Well, That Backfired" was written with the sole intention of garnering as much positive attention as possible, and it worked. I basically engineered the story to be successful. High school? Check. Incest? Check. Reluctance? Check. Teenage innocence? Check. A woman who is turned into a slut by the prowess of the protagonist's penis? Check. I felt obligated to write two sequels for it that did pretty well, and after that, I stopped writing for months. I only started getting back into it because I wrote subjects that interest me. Now my stories get around 5000 views at the most, but it doesn't bother me. I write because I love to write, and that's the only reason anyone should. It's too time-consuming a process to do it for the paltry attention of some slack-mouthed masturbator who's review for your hours and hours of hard work surmounts to, "nice story bro I came so hard next time have him fuck his mom too."

 

So I've tried to post my story Midsummer Madness https://storiesonline.net/s/18718/mid-summer-madness to https://sexstories.com TWICE and, both times, its been rejected for underage something or other.

Of course mails to the support go unanswered and I have no idea what is underage in the damn story, seeing as how the MC is 17 and the heroine 18, and that can be worked out from the regular statements about going to uni and the rest. They don't even seem particularly immature; in my mind, they are normal teenagers who are the age they are.

So in desperation before I give up posting more of my stories here, anyone got any ideas at all which bits of Midsummer Madness are so risque? And for that matter, how were any of the handful of my other stories that I've already published here ever get through any kind of censure that doesn't like Midsummer Madness?

My experiences at this site have been pretty lukewarm. As drama-filled as this site can be I need to constantly remind myself that there are worse places. On another site, a user claimed to have doxxed me and found out I was in actuality a man named Jerome from North Carolina or something, and then sent me death threats. If he thought he found me, I hope poor Jerome wasn't hurt. I don't really look at the ratings, but I'll admit someone who takes the time to write out how much they didn't enjoy a story crushes me. Not in anger, just sadness. My sex stories are more story than sex, so I can take a 'this is bullshit, go write a romance novel instead' comment. It's the 'why did you do this with the character, you're not a good writer' comments that make me go aaaah

For every Johnny Meancomment there's a dozen lovely people I'm so glad to share this site with. @White Walls , @throatHER , @Red Czar , @GHOSTWOLF63 , @Justjon76 and @albertofatto to name a few. You all mean a lot to me and the other people on this site. It helps me to ignore the downvotings that go on on this site. I just checked my stories for the first time in about two months and they're all down about 2%. Enh. They're still up, and people can still find them and comment and stuff, so whatever. Plus knowing the climate of this site, the ratings will continue to go up and down continuously for my stories anyway.

 

Also @Sensualist24 good move changing the name of your story back to What a Photo Reveals. I understand why in the short term you'd want something more carnal, but in the long term this will be more memorable. It was a very well written story, I hope you continue to write about interesting characters as well as 'just sex.' You're definitely on my 'authors to watch' list.

I think you're a good writer with a very good first story. One suggestion I have is to not fall into something I call the "as trap." Read through your work, and see how many times you use "as" to bridge ideas in consecutive sentences. It can get really derivative, and it's something you might not notice while you're writing.

But you got the important stuff like a good sense of erotic language, solid dialogue, and sound structure. The change from first-person to third-person at the beginning was a little jarring; maybe put something in there that alerts the reader that there is a perspective change.

Hi, after being here just a few years i have now decided to write a story and though have have written before thought i let others see into my world little.
But not wanting to be banned i wondered if there is a list of what i can't write about?

 

I have been summoned.

Firstly, my work goes up and down seemingly randomly. I'll take a hiatus from looking/posting to this site and see virtually everything I posted here has gone up or down a full five-ish percent. I honestly think there's a person out there *both* upvoting and downvoting my work on here to fuck with me, as if they think they're screwing with my ego or something. Best strategy when you're established on this site, such as myself or White Walls, is to just ignore the number entirely. People will find your work no matter what your rating when you've been posting here a long time.

Speaking as the apparent posterboy for 'look at his work, this is why the anonymous voting sucks,' I say only allowing registered users to vote is a bad move. I'm even against getting rid of anonymous commentors. I like anonymous voting. People can fuck with it, but as well, it's important to let every reader know their opinion matters. At the end of the day, I write to please people. If it means opening myself up to get fucked with a little, so be it. I still want my community to feel like they matter even if they don't want to register. Because they do matter. Plus, over the course of the whole ratings controversy, I ended up getting more views than ever, and now one of my stories has a permanent spot on a 'top read' list, so it's pretty clear that even if you try to fuck with people on this site, you may end up doing more for the story's good than just burying it.

TL;DR - no system is perfect but this system offering individuals freedoms that I think is unfair to take away. Similar to White Walls.

 

ve two stories posted. Both have 33 positives and 3 negatives, yet one shows 91.7% the other 94.4%. How is that possible? Using basic math shows that both should be 91.67%
