This is interesting. Nevertheless, as long as the unemployment rate and inflation rate remain low Trump stands a good chance of being reelected. Many of Trump's supporters will vote for him, even if they are worse off on election day November 202o than they were on inauguration day January 2017. Christian conservatives want Roe vs Wade to be overturned. White nationalists want to stop non white immigration. Even if these these things do not happen by November 2020 those people will vote for Trump because they think he is on their side on these issues.

Lower income whites usually vote Republican, even when they realize that Republican economic policies do not benefit them, because for them social issues are more important. A lower income white person who loses ground economically during a Republican administration will likely continue to vote Republican because of his opposition to abortion, non white immigration, and gay rights.

A lot of those people believe in the gospel of prosperity. They believe that if they keep giving donations to some smarmy televangelist they will get rich some day. Those people will vote for Trump because they think voting Republican is the will of God.

There is really no point in trying to reason with them. They will vote for Trump no matter what happens to them, and no matter what Trump does. They really are that stupid.

this is proof of what I have always said about the corruption of Wall Street. With the help of Trump and the GOP they keep pumping up the markets attracting investors. But the big boys won't take a hit. So while they get suckers to buy in they take their money and run causing the markets to crash.

Time to panic? Insiders haven’t dumped this much stock per day since 2007

If one tax cut put the leftists into a frenzy.....wait until the GOP passes another tax cut...hehehehehe.

Mnuchin says administration will consider new round of tax cuts in 2020

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Monday that the Trump administration would consider proposing a package of tax cuts in 2020, trumpeting the strength of the U.S. economy despite the ominous financial indicators of recent weeks.

“I think there’s no question the U.S. economy is in very good shape. As we look around the world, there’s no question that China is slowing, Europe is slowing — the U.S. is the bright spot of the world,” Mnuchin told reporters.

“And regards to a middle class tax cut, you know, we’ll be looking at tax cuts 2.0, something that will be something we’ll consider next year,” he continued. “But right now, the economy is in very, very good shape.”

President Donald Trump first teased the prospect of “a major tax cut for middle-income people” ahead of the 2018 midterm elections, following up on the $1.5 trillion Republican tax bill he signed into law in December 2017. While the proposal was a major talking point of the president's in the run-up to the midterm elections, Trump has seldom discussed it since.

Amid economic warning signs and fears of a forthcoming recession last month, National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow asserted the administration was again reviewing a series of middle-class tax reductions.

“We are looking at it. Tax cuts 2.0. We are looking at all that,” Trump’s chief economic adviser told “Fox News Sunday.”

But Trump has vacillated on various measures meant to shore up the economy heading into an election year, at first confirming he had "been thinking about" slashing payroll taxes before reversing his position the next day, insisting: “I’m not looking at a tax cut now.”

Tax cuts to the wealthy, negative interest rates to use our hard earned money for free, while we get nothing but pennies, higher costs of goods and services and not even a hardy handshake.

    Life is hard.

John Maynard Keynes, whose economic policies got us out of the Great Depression, said taxes should be cut during a recession, that is to say, when the per capita gross domestic product is declining, and unemployment is high. He said that the time to raise taxes and pay down the national debt was during a time of economic growth and low unemployment.

Without acknowledging that they were doing so, Republicans accepted Keynes' method of dealing with a recession. They ignore his advice for economic behavior when the economy is growing. When there is a recession Republicans say, "We need to cut taxes to grow the economy." When the economy grows, Republicans say, "Those tax cuts worked, let's cut taxes some more."

Republicans still have the nerve to claim to be fiscally responsible. They only complain about deficit spending when a Democrat is president. Their only way to reduce deficit spending is to reduce spending on domestic programs that are popular with the voters, but that they have never liked.

Funny how nobody’s talking about the deficit, and nobody here seems to be concerned about it at all.

Why? Because they know a dem will inherit it and they can scream then.

    Oh cmon subby!
Shooter has said several times, Trump has failed to address the debt and he needs to get cracking on it.
    Like, soon.
    Very soon.

He's got to grow a set and start vetoing budgets that aren't balanced and/or don't address the debt.

Funny how you people keep forgetting that and keep ranting.

Trump Just Released His Fiscal Year 2020 Budget Proposal.

The budget cuts, on the other hand, are more significant, affecting areas such as education and environmental protection and totaling $2.7 trillion.

The 2020 budget proposes a 5% cut at non-defense federal agencies, including a total of $1.9 trillion in cuts to safety net programs like Medicaid. Trump also proposed new work requirements for Medicaid recipients and turning more power over to states. On Medicare, Trump called for an $845 billion budget cut.

Other agencies that would see budget cuts include the Environmental Protection Agency, the State Department, the Transportation Department, and the Department of the Interior, affecting matters such as foreign aid, federal employee retirement programs, and clean energy.

Since Barry Goldwater's well deserved landslide defeat in 1964 Republican politicians have learned that there is more support for cutting domestic spending programs "in principle," than there is support for cutting specific programs. Every program in the budget has a powerful political constituency to protect it. The largest and most expensive programs are the most popular. The federal government grew to its present size in response to popular demand.

In 2016 Donald Trump did not campaign on reducing domestic spending. He promised new infrastructure projects. Where are they? He promised a health care plan that would be better and less expensive than the Affordable Care Act. Where is it?

2018 Strategic 50 U.S. Infrastructure Projects Report Released - $303 Billion in Value

    "Winning in U.S. Infrastructure"

    NEWS PROVIDED BY

    CG/LA Infrastructure
    Apr 09, 2018, 11:08 ET

WASHINGTON, April 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CG/LA Infrastructure is proud to release the 2nd annual Strategic 50 U.S. Infrastructure Projects Report, featuring the namesake list of 50 in-development strategic projects throughout the U.S. The Report highlights $303 billion in project value – and over 600,000 direct jobs to be created nationwide. All are expected to move forward and offer business opportunities in the next 3-12 months. The project list is immediately available and the Report will be available at the 2nd Annual Blueprint 2025 2X Leadership Forum, to be held on April 26th at Union Station in Washington, DC.

"The U.S. infrastructure market is characterized by very high demand, while, at the same time, it continues to be plagued by regulatory and permitting hurdles," according to Norman F. Anderson, President & CEO of CG/LA Infrastructure, the firm bringing project sponsors, political leaders, and infrastructure executives together at the event. "With a growing economy, transformative technologies, and new funding strategies, we are on the cusp of an infrastructure renaissance in our country. We want to push things forward a bit faster, given the extraordinary benefits for our citizens by increasing the speed, and reducing the costs, of project development."

The Strategic 50 by the Numbers. In the 2018 Report, the Oil & Gas Sector leads strategic project opportunities with five projects totaling $84 billion. Transformative projects are second, with two projects totaling $45 billion in investment. High-Speed Rail is third, with three projects totaling $42 billion. Urban projects, like New York and New Jersey's Gateway Program and California WaterFix, lead this $107.5 billion category. The Alaska LNG project, Texas Central Railway, and the Next Generation Air Transportation System also claim spots on the list, with the first two almost exclusively funded through private investment. Notably, the waterways category ranked lowest on the list, at only $4 billion total, reflecting the $90 billion backlog of projects overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Report and project list was compiled by rating projects focusing on three criteria: a) jobs and other benefits (health, mobility) creation potential; b) readiness to proceed; and c) economic growth. Private investment potential, across seven different channels – from asset recycling, to land value capture, to P3s – was also considered.

The Blueprint 2025 2X Leadership Forum will feature and host these 50 projects at an event for 300 public and private executives at Union Station on April 26th. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-WI, will kick-off the event at 8:30 am.

Infrastructure projects cost money. Trump wants to cut everything but the offense budget.

We've been through this before. Reagan tried it. George the Lesser tried it. When they get serious about cutting domestic spending they run into effective resistance, much of it coming from Republican voters. Unfortunately, they never learn.

Trump is cutting defense. Not enough to satisfy despicables, but he proposed a 5% cut.
That he wants to cut despicables favorite social programs means despicables will trigger, cut defense more, and increase spending on their favorite give away programs.

    Then bitch about the debt.

    The Cato Institute, March 11, 2019 5:08PM

The White House unveiled its proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2020 and, to the apparent surprise of some military planners, the White House is calling for a top line national defense budget of $750 billion. Pentagon officials had reportedly anticipated a budget of $733 billion, which would have been a 2.4 percent increase over last year’s. They got a 4.7 percent increase instead. According to the supporting documentation, the request is intended to provide the Department of Defense with the resources to “remain the preeminent military power in the world, ensure balances of power in key regions remain in America’s favor, and advance an international order that is the most conducive to U.S. security and prosperity.”

The United States spends more than twice as much on its military as China and Russia combined, and is clearly the world’s “preeminent military power,” but it isn’t obvious that we’re getting the biggest bang for our bucks, nor that this additional spending will be critical to sustaining our edge. More to the point, even with all this “preeminence,” the U.S. military has struggled to bring current conflicts to a satisfactory end. As noted in 2016 by Admiral Mike Mullen, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, “We’re 0 for a lot.” Military historian Andrew Bacevich similarly concludes “having been ‘at war’ for virtually the entire twenty-first century, the United States military is still looking for its first win.” (h/t Steve Walt)

The United States Department of Offense is a government spending program that does not work.

The Trumpers know that Trump is a scoundrel, and they do not care. He has done one or two things they like, and that is all that matters.

The fact that the vast majority of Christian conservatives support Trump passionately is really reprehensible. They hated Bill Clinton because of his womanizing. Trump is more of a voluptuary than Bill Clinton ever was. At least Bill Clinton went to church every Sunday. That is more than anyone can say of Trump.

    Well, couple thoughts.
"Trumpers" recognize Trumps faults. Those faults are not nearly as severe as despicables would have us believe. And, we know the alternative would have been far worse.

Second, he is doing more than a couple things we like. Surprises us, but pleasantly.

Third, one does not have to be a "Christian conservative" to support Trump and not like Clinton. And the thing about Clinton is that every indication is that Clinton remains a sleaze. Trumps womanizing appears to have ceased decades ago.

And finally, lets not forget that whether despicable or deplorable, the current political mood does not encourage reasoned debate of the issues. So, rant on.
