    The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

    Teachers here on a J-1 Visa do not pay Social Security (FICA) taxes, which you should recall is 15.3% of pay. For this reason, they are typically paid less than US teachers, not because they will work cheaper than a US citizen. Otherwise, you see, the Philippines teacher would make more than their US counterparts and the unions would huff and puff about that. And by the way, a J-1 Visa is a "cultural exchange" Visa, and a lot of our own citizens with teaching backgrounds are teaching in other countries, you know, for the cultural experience. It isn't a one way street. J-1 Visas are typically 3 year visas and not a pathway to citizenship.

    Second, the US labor market is, for the first time, flooded with more jobs than applicants. The education sector is no different; school districts cannot get enough applicants to fill their job openings. At least, enough applicants who can pass background checks and drug tests.

    Third, most or many of these imported teachers are recruited to teach "English as a second language" courses, or at least their dual language capabilities are welcomed in school districts because the Law mandates 2 separate but equal teaching curriculums; one for English speaking students, and one for students who do not speak English; you know, immigrant children. Not all of them are in cages after all, and all of them are entitled to the same education as a native born citizen. On average, 23% of students in the US do not speak English as their first language.
