how many of you have crossed that line, and had a positive outcome?

 

I've crossed the line, it just didn't end up like I intended.

 

Almost, about a month ago.

She said she doesn't want to loose a good friend, so it's better not to even try it :/

Funny thing is, I think we're not as good friends now as we were back then.



But I think it all depends on level committement, is it going to be a long-term relationship or is it most likely to end in few months time?

 

I'm not one to hang onto many girls as just "friends", but the couple girls I was friends with first, then dated years down the road, still ended badly. However, I believe it can work, depending on the original friendship.

I'd venture to speculate that it's another "up to the individual situation and personalities involved" type of answer.

 

My best "girlfriend" actually started dating her best friend when she was 15, she's 20 now and they're married. So yea, it can work out.

 

i would love to marry my best friend, i think it's every girls fantasy.

unfortunately, ive never stayed best friends with a guy after breaking up with him, because the guy couldn't do it. which makes me regret crossing that line. you end up losing twice as much than just the relationship.

 

i tried dating my best friend, it worked very well for two years, and then things started getting rough and we ended up breaking up, upon breaking up it was bad, she wanted nothing to do with me but i still wanted to talk to her, after about 3 months we were able to talk more and we are back to being very close and i would consider her one of my better friends now....so it can work and even if it doesn't things can still turn out ok, but at the same time the chance is always there that if it doesnt work things will be ruined

 

I have never understood how a guy could be best, or even good, friends with a girl he's attracted to. The whole time he's GOT be thinkin, "someday...", but when that day comes, he got what he wanted and the novelty wears off.

Takes a special breed I imagine.

 

i was friends with a guy that only thought of me as a close friend, and yes, our lives were completely centered around each other. i was REALLY lucky, and then we took it a step further, when we knew we couldn't do anything about it because of our current lives.

 

Been there, not a good idea...

 

Been married to my best friend for 32 years, guess it worked out okay, but only time will tell.

BTW, we were best friends for about 10 years before we married.

Crossed it. Take some advice. DON'T DO IT! It almost always ruins any kind of relationship you had with them.

 

Came close. When I was 22, my best friend told me he was in love with me and wanted to change our relationship. I told him I had to think about it because I was scared of messing up our friendship and that we should spend some time apart. That was the last time I talked to him, the following week, he was killed in a car accident. I'll never know how it would have turned out.

 

I think for guys, we just cant. Many of my ex's were quality people and would do me some good to have them around, but i have never been strong enough to handle them having the new man....or woman. I think girls could do it, but I could never see a woman i love or lovrd, loving someone else.......im weak and selfish i guess

 

But my current gf is my best friend and id drop anything to spend time with her. If we broke up it would be way too hard.....

 

Well, it works. Im dating my best friend. But if you think about a lot of times, although you dont relieze your dating your best friend 90% of the time

it happened the other way for me. i became best friends with the one im dating...don't think that counts eh?
