A warrant is defined as “a statement that connects a reason to a claim.” In other words, if someone makes a claim, he should have valid reasons -- or sufficient data -- to support that claim. The reason needs to have relevance to the claim. If the relevance of the reason, or warrant, is not well accepted, then there is room for disagreement as to the reasoning for the claim.

Now you always go to personal attacks and I submit that that is a warrant to my claim that you feel that your position is indefensible.

Am I correct? If not then present your warrants as to why my claim is incorrect.

I was just reminded of something I'd forgotten.

80% of the deaths a hundred years ago in that flu (influenza) pandemic ,
happened in the
second wave.

I think we have a better chance this time if we do suffer "second waves" ,
because we have much faster communication , tracking ,
and movement and transport , and production of everything nescassary .

But the early signs are that people to quickly forget the new rules required to keep this thing at bay.

They think that as soon as restrictions are eased ,
it equates to the threat being all over.

All this complacency is very risky.

It literally is just relying on luck.

The other thing ;
we're getting much more of interviews and personal accounts and information from survivors who have suffered it ,
and they are all similar.

The simplest summary is consistently ,

"I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy"

"I'm still suffering shortness of breath very easily , even just talking to you"

"I'm worried my lungs are perminently damaged and I'll have to live with this reduced capacity for the rest of my life"

"I can't , and don't know when I'll be able to return to work"

These are not old , weak , unhealthy ,
or drama queens.
These are normal , young , used to be hard working and sporty people ,
who have just had a "covid flu" episode.
Normal people who have experienced
"the hoax" ,
and some even barely survived it.

I just watched another interview:
A 39 year old sport playing builder.
He was very clearly struggling with his breathing ,
although he is considered "recovered" ,
non infectious ,
and allowed to return to work ,
except he literally can't.

Yes , we believe most will come through it unscathed , and just a few will die , of or because of it ,
but it is becoming clear that a significant percentage may be more badly affected than we yet realise ,
and many of them may be so for the rest of their lives.

And again, the 1918 flu grew out of the intransigence of President Wilson to get soldiers and even sick American soldiers to France. Social distancing on those transport ships was not measured in meters but in centimeters.

Absolutely nothing natural about the 1918 flu. All America’s fault I will admit. An epidemic from the plains of Kansas became a terrifying pandemic all due to one asshole American President.

And when you think about it. Why would anyone want to be closer than 2 meters from a stranger?

 

Pandemics tend to happen during wartime and the 1918 pandemic grew entirely out of the war. Typhus was a major problem during world war 2.

Plague in Athens during the Peloponnesian war is the first case I can think of. But I’m sure there are plenty before.

The inconvenient truth is that we are always going to have plagues and pandemics when populations are densely packed.

We got lucky this time with a weak virus but with close to 8 billion of us and mostly clustered densely in cities and a struggle for limited resources as the powder keg for wars, what about next time?

Even the cdc have got wise to using the difference between expected deaths and actual deaths to get a handle of the actual number of covid-19 deaths and if you integrate the area of the curve above expected deaths you get covid-19 deaths which according to the data means by April 25 2020 (the last date available for these stats the US already had over 70,000 deaths!

Donald Trump has come up with a new excuse for the astonishing scale of his country's coronavirus outbreak.

It's not a good one.

"Don't forget, we have more cases than anybody in the world. But why? Because we do more testing," Trump told workers at a medical supply plant in Pennsylvania yesterday.

"When you test, you have a case. When you test, you find something is wrong with people. If we didn't do any testing we would have very few cases.

"They don't want to write that. It's just common sense."

This is a stupid statement. It is not "controversial" or "bizarre" or "unconventional", or any of the other words we traditionally use to sanitise the absurd things that come out of Mr Trump's mouth with such depressing regularity.

It is just pure, weapons-grade stupid.

It's like saying if you don't use pregnancy tests, you'll never have a baby. Or if police stop investigating murders, the amount of crime will drop.
