I will remain a republican, but will vote for who I feel is the best for the countries interests. Right now I feel Edwards had what I wanted, but he is out. I know it's not Clinton or McCain. So I'm still looking.

 

I have to agree with you on McCain. While I respect his military service to our country I don't respect many of the things that he has done while in office.
I'm hopeful that Romney can get the Republican nomination. I'm not completely happy with him either. But I like him much more than I do McCain.

 

Romney is a simpleton just like Bush. He sees everything in black and white.

Actually I've read that it's a scientific fact that those of the "liberal" persuasion tend to see things as more of "shades of grey" while "conservatives" tend more toward "black/white" dichotomies.

Terrorists are terrorists, pure and simple. But the "Us" versus "Them" view of things is hardly productive. By saying it's simply "Us" and the "Terrorists," with nothing in between, you completely marginalize every citizen in countries whose leaders make the ill-advised decision of housing terrorists. You completely disregard countries that don't have the will or the desire to join in a global war on terror. To say things like "You're either with us or you're with the terrorists" (as Bush has routinely stated) is the epitome of black and white thinking. And it's dangerous thinking that has alienated most of the world.

This statement is completely ad hominem and suggests that liberals are on the side of the terrorists because we support a woman's right to choose when she will and when she will not be giving birth. To characterize abortion as murder with nothing in between completely disregards the difficult moral and ethical struggles that women go through when they become pregnant and entertain birth, adoption, and abortion. You think every woman who has ever had an abortion because she knew she couldn't provide a proper life to her child should be sent to prison for life? Because by calling them murderers, you suggest exactly that.

The pro-life argument is almost completely based on emotional appeal. Perhaps the pro-choice argument is, too. The entire abortion debate is one of high-flying emotions. It's difficult with such a touchy subject to separate facts and logic from the emotional appeal of things such as being "pro-life" and "pro-choice." Simply framing the argument as a question of pro-life and pro-choice completely negates any potential logical argument in the first place.

Finally, this is completely baseless and not a real argument at all. Try again.

Can you explain why. I've already stated the repulicans pushed into an unjust and unwinnable war in Iraq. They've pushed the nation into recession with tax breaks for the rich and coporate welfare such as sub-prime lending. They've racked up a $9 trillion dollar national debt and sold the US out to the Chinese. They've taken away for constitutional protections and civil liberties than at any time in our history. And they continue to rob social security to pay for faith based programs. My self and most others feel that's doing a pretty bad job of governing.
