  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

What an amazing season. It is incredible to have seen 5 in a row. In 50 years when people talk about it we can say we watched it as it happened. AMAZING!!

Congrats to Carl Edwards for his win of the race. But he was overshadowed by two record setters.

JJ drove a very smart race, winning 5 is great, winning 5 in a row is unbelievable.

But then another record fell, as an owner, Hendrick passed Petty in total team championship by winning his tenth.

Also, Denny Hamlin became the only driver to lose the championship after leading going into the last race . . . a dubious honor, to be sure, but a record! :awesome:

I can't believe I benched Edwards and Harvick at the last minute and ended up missing out on a 300pt week to finish the season ~doh!~

Do you Nascar fans think it is better than Formula 1? And if so, why? I mean I'm not a fan of either really, but I would assume that driving a car around a track with a variety of twists and turns is more tricky than driving around a track that is oval shaped (?). So I would assume it takes more skill to drive in Formula 1 than any other type of driving, perhaps apart from rallying. Would you all agree?

I watched two F1 races this year - boring, boring, boring. The first 5 laps sets the field, then they just go around and around those twists and turns in the same order until it is over. :Zz I thought NASCAR would be just as boring when I first started watching, but it is much more dynamic. There are many lead changes, the cars are built so they can bump and thump without disintegrating, pit stops actually have a bearing on the race results . . . it's a much better racing series these days.

Well, its not at all is it now TG? For a start, I didnt ask which "you like better". I asked which "was better", then I dared to ask for an explanation why.

If I were to ask on a Nascar thread which they liked better and asked for no reason why, I would be pretty stupid wouldnt I? Yes, OK, I AM pretty stupid...but I did ask why......cut me some slack.....simply asking why Nascar has such appeal. I dont get it. I've asked the wife, but she says no. :)

Okay, which is better, apples or oranges?

Why does F1 have it's appeal? It is the form of auto racing that was developed on the European continent. So it must be what you are used to.

Stock Car racing is like American Football, it's what we grew up with. Every little town in the South, Mid-West and South-West has an oval track, it is an affordable form of racing.

NASCAR is the big leagues grown from the same roots.

The US has many closed circuit ovals, from 1/4 mile to 2 1/2 miles. We also have several dedicated road courses, two of which host NASCAR events.

You see...you start with your cheeky apples/oranges rhetoric but then go on to offer some insight and actually answer my question. I can see that your middle name really is "Sweetness" but your other middle names are "But Really Trying To Hide It." You big lump :excited:

I'll give the simplest answer... accessibility. NO other sport has the accessibility of it's athletes to it's fans like NASCAR does. After the race, Denny had just lost the championship, on his way back to his motor coach to change, he signed a couple autographs. And was happy to do it. Before the race, the 2 championship leaders were in the same truck riding around the track and signing autographs with the couple fans that had won some giveaway or something.

It's simple, you are not going to get Manning's signature right after losing the Superbowl. You won't actually be anywhere near him. Do you think you could ever get LeBron's autograph before, or after a game. How often do the big stars of "normal" sports, or F1 for that matter spend actual time with their fans, NEVER.

I said all that to say this, it's the accessibility that makes the fans so endeared to it's athletes that they will cheer for their hero's to have success harder. And when your Hero is in a 180 mph chess match/traffic jam you tend to want to watch.

Big news out of the Hendrick camp today....

[IMG]Hendrick Motorsports makes personnel adjustments for 2011CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 23, 2010) – Hendrick Motorsports has made personnel adjustments in preparation for the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, with drivers Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. being teamed with new crew chiefs.

Below are the driver-crew chief pairings for each Hendrick Motorsports car, effective immediately:

    No. 5 Chevrolet
    Driver: Mark Martin
    Crew Chief: Lance McGrew

    No. 24 Chevrolet
    Driver: Jeff Gordon
    Crew Chief: Alan Gustafson

    No. 48 Chevrolet
    Driver: Jimmie Johnson
    Crew Chief: Chad Knaus

    No. 88 Chevrolet
    Driver: Dale Earnhardt Jr.
    Crew Chief: Steve Letarte

The cars of Martin and four-time Sprint Cup champion Gordon will be fielded out of the same facility, now known as the 5/24 shop. Earnhardt Jr.'s Chevrolets will be prepared out of the renamed 48/88 shop alongside those of five-time and defending Cup champion Jimmie Johnson. "This will improve us as an organization, across the board," said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. "We had a championship season (in 2010), but we weren't where we wanted and needed to be with all four teams. We've made the right adjustments, and I'm excited to go racing with this lineup."

I wasn't surprised when I read it...Gordon just can't seem to get there with LaTarte, and Mark and Junior both had bad years...I'd love to see Mark Martin win the Spring Cup next year, but I'm not sure that Lance McGrew is the crew chief that can help him win...

Yep, that's it. I've always been more of a F1, touring cars, sports cars, etc kinda guy, but I can aprecciate NASCAR as a....category. I've watched it once or twice, and it is easy to get a handle of things.
