When people talk about police reform this is one of the most important areas to start. Many if not most times police are called to deal with a domestic dispute they are actually being called to deal with a mentally ill person. Which they are worse than ill suited for. Because many if not most times the police's only response is resort to brute force including far too often deadly force. In fact the problem is compounded by far too many police officers, especially white supremacist and racist police officers, that get a sadistic thrill out of brutalizing and/or killing minorities. That attitude needs to change from the top down and more money needs to be put into squiring mental heath professionals to deal with mentally ill people and extensive police training on how to deescalate situations rather than just shoot first and ask questions later.

The expert in all things law enforcement has given the minions the gospel.

As a cop Shooter handled probably hundreds of family disputes. Shooters city was working class, which means payday fridays were guaranteed to be busy.

So, mr. Law enforcement expert, how would you suggest handling a drunk, enraged, belligerent ass who has beat the hell out of his wife, and maybe his kids, and is suggesting you go fuck yourself before he sticks the bat he's been wielding on his family up your ass?

And for the record, Shooter never shot anyone while a cop.

So, mr. Law expert, how you gonna defuse this situation and get mom and the kids the medical help they need? Oh, and no tazers (they work for shit on drunks anyway) and only tear gas (also ineffective on drunks) a nightstick and a gun for options.

 

I seem to remember the law was called to come do something to help the people in almost every domestic dispute.
Do people actually want the police to stop coming to help when they are called?

 

I do not want police officers who would have made better social workers. I want men who got into a lot of fights as teenagers because they enjoy violence to join the police forces. I want men who fought in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I would also hire a comedian to be my press secretary. He would trade jokes with the reporters whenever my department was involved in another act of police brutality.

Police work is stressful. A moment's inattention by a policeman can result in a criminal killing that policeman.

I want policemen who enjoy beating and killing criminals. Whenever a policeman scores ten confirmed kills I think he should be exempt from paying the income tax for a year.

 

Just read a report out of Idaho, supposedly a cop shot a guy in his backyard, they were looking for a guy who ran away from an auto stop and was said to have a gun. the guy they shot was supposedly in his back yard with a gun... I'm sure there will be some more to clarify

 

If I was a police chief my policemen would frequently be accused of police brutality. Most of the accusations would be accurate. If police brutality could be proved against one of my policemen, it would be mentioned in his next job review, and praised.

 

Once two policemen beat me up. They thought I was someone else. As soon as they learned of their mistake they left. As I lay on the ground with a broken rib I would have appreciated an apology. I did not get one.
