  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

This is a very sad story. Makes me fear for BabyShake when he's in school. Let some Christians attack him, I'll burn down every church in a 50 mile radius.

It's lucky she encountered Christians with such a strong understanding of the Christian ethic of Love and Forgiveness. They were trying to help her, obviously, because she was such a messed up kid.

    I despair.

This is a sad story, any time one is persecuted for their beliefs (or non-beliefs) is an indictment of the perprators.

Although it is a fairly rare occurence to see this escalate to physical abuse by children, the emotional abuse is rampant. When I was growing up in a WASPy community, it was common to find children taunting Catholics and Jews, frequently it became quite painful to those on the receiving end.

But on the positive side, it help me (and I presume others) to see the unneccesary hurt as bigotry in motion. The adults in the community would be wise to turn this incident into a positive educational experience for the other kids there.

Just reading the thread title made me angry . .. then I read the actual article. Disgusting. Can you imagine having a minister come to your hospital room to "evangelize" you after being beaten like that?!? I know that would certainly give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about Christianity. What's worse, though, as others have said, is that it wasn't particularly surprising. That in itself is sad.

Seeing as she mentioned praying before snack times, I'm guessing maybe elementary school. She doesn't say, however.

This kind of thing is actually very common. Students are unwillingly outed at their public schools and they are immediately ridiculed. In Tennessee in '06 they took the Dover school district to court because the local college, Bryan College (named after the famous prosecuter in the Scopes Monkey Trial ) had been for years, sending in their students to teach creationism and evangelize to the students. The teachers often left the room, the administration turned a blind eye and the material was never approved by any regulating agency. A small group of parents rightly sued and they asked that their identity remain secret because they knew if it got out they would have been harassed and their children would be in danger.

This is just wrong. With all the stories like this, it's amazing to think that the moral majority of Christians often don't stand up and tell the misbehaving nutjobs to shut the hell up.

Because, much like Muslims, even if they would never do such a thing, secretly they support such behavior. You can't truly respect someone you think is going to hell. This article is just an extension of that. To those students, she was going to hell so she deserved everything they did to her. She didn't count as a human because of her lack of faith so it justified everything they did to her. This is the sickness of religious faith and why I have such a bug up my ass about it. It is dangerous.

This is appalling. I think the parents under-reacted -- I'd have sued the school district, called a press conference, and moved my child to a different school, not necessarily in that order.

Only because you deny it. But if it's so ridiculous, why did someone send in a minister to prostilytize to this poor girl instead of a grief counselor? Here's a girl almost beaten to death by other students and they're more worried about her soul than her body.

Did you know that in Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago a local church organization erected a billboard that said, and I quote, "Why do Atheists hate America?"

I don't think the students did this because they thought she was going to hell. I think they did it because they love to target outsiders in their midst, someone who has been wounded. I've seen it many, many times.

The real blame falls on the teacher and the school, the former for singling out the student, knowing perfectly well what would happen, and the school for failing to protect the child.

I know. It would appear that her parents tried to sweep it under the rug. That's almost as shocking as the act itself. Perhaps they were living in fear as well. Something like that is akin to asking a rape victim to keep quiet about it.

Yes, the real blame is with the teacher but that does not excuse the students either. They felt justified in their actions because of their faith. **edit** It's the same reason suicide bombers do what they do. Sure you blame the Imam who taught them, but the sickness he spread comes from some place. That place happens to be a religious ideology. Here and there, that is their inspiration for violence.

What happened to the people involved? I think there should have been MAJOR consequences for the students, the teachers and even the parents of the students that beat her. They couldve kille dher and they all shouldve gotten hefty fines and jail time, that seems to me like Attempted murder.

The sad thing about this is, its common. Not as bad as that but the teasing, name calling, condemning, all that is VERY common in schools, even PUBLIC schools.
