  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Yet other quotes, attributed to him spoke of miracles and a divine being, so go figure.

But where do you draw your evidence from that something was given us by a creator? There is certainly nothing to indicate that in the natural world.

Which would be the lies he spoke of, no doubt. Or a taking out of context, much like Hawking's phrase "And then we shall know the mind of God."

It seems fairly clear -- he was no Christian. His "religion" was of the pantheistic or Deist stripe.

I am reading his biography, up until about 12 he took to Judaism , after that he vehemently despised religion and the mob mentality of god.

There is no reason to even include deism. And the pantheism includes nothing supernatural.

Yes, he at times denies being an atheist...but it's clear from ALL those quotes that he doesn't believe in a personal God. Rather, he stands in awe of the cosmos, and does not reject the idea of a creator. He is a "non-believer". That's a far cry from being religious in the sense most people use the term.

If you will for a moment consider this.

Religion is not a fixed set of rigid values and disiplines, there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of religions. Not all Christians are fundimentalists. Not all scientists are atheists, Eistein wrote that he was annoyed by them.

Einstein clearly believed that Jesus lived, he wrote a considerable amount of what he thought about Jesus. Yet he was raised and was educated as a Jew, this to me shows that he was an open minded person. Because he believed in the existance of Jesus, he was not automaticly a Christian.

Because he did not believe in a personal God, does not automaticly mean that he did not belive in ANY divine being.

Too frequently we close our minds to the possiblity that others beliefs may have merit. This, I believe, is what Einstein found so annoying about atheists. No great thinker, great scientist, great theologian, closes their minds to other possibilities.

To my thinking, you Shake, Perv and Kimi are doing just that. This is your perogative, I don't choose to do so.

Notice how some quotes are cut at critical points and another towards the top isn't even his. Get a full biography that is not intended to focus on his religious aspects and only addresses them without attempting to push an agenda.

    Might I suggest:

    Einstein by Walter Isaacson (2007)

You obviously didn't click on the subject, there is a complete dissertation on each partial quote.

I also posted a link for the middle of a subject, here is the home page, which you could have gotten if you read the intro.

Sorry, tenguy, I feel like we're ganging up on you. You're taking it like a trooper, though. Many of your fellow board members would have cracked and run screaming from the thread at by this point. Many have, actually.

And please tell me where Einstein claims to believe in Jesus. Please explain to me a divine being apart from a personal god.

I cant find anything about what came after "I am forced to add that just to keep you from thinking that --weakened by age--I have fallen prey to the clergy …"

I will agree with Shake's point above though and need to leave anyway. Sorry about the ganging up but these do whet my appetite.

You're studiously avoiding telling us what you DO believe in. But you're enlisting Einstein as an ally. Why is that?

As I said. I have an open mind. If I receive new information that contradicts the old information, and I find it to be valid by whatever methods I use to determine such things, I accept the new information in place of the old. I change my mind. There is nothing in religion that I feel has any merit. It's a horrible moral guide, it's scientifically ignorant, having been written before the age of reason when superstition was the law, and it has no redeeming value at all that I can find. In this day and age it is an antiquated concept and in a world that can be destroyed with the push of a button, it is a dangerous idea to hang on to. We don't need it and it is quickly becoming too expensive to keep around.

No I did clearly state my beliefs, I believe that physicaly man evoved with the rest of the animal kingdom, in a manner that science descibes.

I also believe that God's creation is our soul, mind or intellect, which was given to man as the creation. I further believe that the Christian faith has it wrong, I believe that Jesus was a man of God in a spiritual way, just as I believe that likewise we all are spiritual beings, as well as physical beings.

He's been hanging around with OT too much, methinks.

OT has an annoying knack for telling everything on a subject but what he actually thinks about it. He gets off on it. ;)

Not so here, Shake. I am an open book, have never hidden what I think.
