This is one of the more hilarious things I've read today. First of all we are being told to suspend disbelief that the RNC in neutral during primaries when they all but threatened to kill any Republican that tried to primary Trump in the last election. But also because I think this is very telling that while the GOP is beating a path down to Mar a Lago to kiss Trump's ass they are getting ready to stab him in the back.

The RNC has sent out a mailer that is going to infuriate Trump

    www.rawstory.com

Donald Trump probably is not happy about this.

The Republican National Committee last week mailed supporters a fundraising letter and survey of GOP 2024 presidential hopefuls over the signature of RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. The letter was remarkable, not for what it said, but what it didn't say.

The party of Donald Trump didn't mention Donald Trump, other than to list his name without fanfare on an alphabetical list of 15 potential presidential nominees. Instead, McDaniel offered the following unconvincing disclaimer:

"I must emphasize the RNC is strictly neutral through the entire presidential primary process," McDaniel's letter stated. "But once the presidential primaries are complete in 2024, the RNC is the ONLY Party committed by federal law that can provide substantial direct financial support to our presidential nominee."

From Trump's perch as arguably the most narcissistic human ever, the two-page letter's five mentions of the White House and zero of him likely didn't sit well. In particular, this paragraph took neutrality to a level not seen at the RNC for many years:

"President Biden and the Radical Democrats are feverishly working to reverse the gains our country made the last four years under Republican leadership in the White House and are determined to ram their Far Left agenda down the American people's throats."

Really? "Under Republican leadership in the White House?" Can't think of the fellow's name, apparently. What's worse, it's part of a sentence that looks to be lifted right off of a MAGA propaganda piece.

McDaniel's letter explained that I (strangely enough) have been invited to be "one of a handful of Republicans in your state" to help ensure the party picks the "absolute strongest candidate for the Presidency our party can find." It repeatedly mentioned Biden and sounded alarms in terms strangely reminiscent of that guy who preceded him:

"Their Far-Left special interest allies are already planning to raise billions of dollars to keep Biden in the White House for another four years so he can finish the "fundamental transformation" of America into a Big Government Socialist state."

The letter was accompanied by an enclosure listing 15 "Republican leaders as potential nominees for president of the United States." We special recipients of the letter weren't asked to rank them, merely to check one of five boxes rating our views of them from "strongly favorable" to "strongly unfavorable."

As the letter explained, "The poll does not ask you to choose between possible candidates. Its purpose is simply to help our Party and possible candidates establish a baseline gauge, at this moment in time, of the interest, viability and support within our Party, of the current provisional slate of "most likely" presidential nominees.

Despite the pledge of strict neutrality, the RNC had to pick someone and -- given that there are far more than 15 such leaders -- it had to some people as well. Both lists, as well as Trump's not-at-all-special treatment, were rather telling.

Here's the list of candidates, with their accompanying descriptions:

    • Tom Cotton (Arkansas Senator)
    • Chris Christie (Former New Jersey Governor)
    • Ted Cruz (Texas Senator)
    • Ron DeSantis (Florida Governor)
    • Nikki Haley (Former South Carolina Governor)
    • Josh Hawley (Missouri Senator)
    • Larry Hogan (Maryland Governor)
    • Rand Paul (Kentucky Senator)
    • Mike Pence (Former Vice President)
    • Mike Pompeo (Former Secretary of State)
    • Marco Rubio (Florida Senator)
    • Rick Scott (Florida Senator)
    • Tim Scott (South Carolina Senator)
    • Donald J. Trump (Former President)
    • Donald Trump Jr. (Businessman)
Just the way the candidates are listed and identified is a hoot. Not that Trump wouldn't appreciate the need to refer to him parenthetically as "Former president." At least he wasn't just called "Businessman" like his son.

But it's worth noting some of the big names who didn't make the cut. There was Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter, former adviser and what not. There was Governors Kristi Noem of South Dakota and Greg Abbott, of Texas, on almost everyone's short list. They must be wondering how the RNC dredged up Christie for a spin rather than them. So might Senators Mike Lee and Joni Ernst and Rep. Dan Crenshaw.

On the celebrity non-politician front -- where Don Jr is lined up, so to speak -- a couple of glaring omissions were two media figures whose names have been widely bandied about: Tucker Carlson and Candace Coleman.

These non-inclusions probably weren't as telling, however, as those of Senators Mitt Romney and Ben Sasse, Governor Mike DeWine, former Governor John Kasich and former Senator Bob Corker. All of them have run, or are flirting with running, for the GOP presidential nomination. All have received the title "Never Trumper."

Or, as the RNC, apparently would say now, "Never that former president."

'It was horrible': Top GOP donors were disgusted with Trump's RNC speech while others ducked out

According to a report from Politico, multiple donors attending a closed-door speech given by Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort Saturday night were dismayed and disgusted with the tenor of the speech as the president went off script and ranted about House Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as a "dumb son-of-a-bitch."

Reports on Saturday night state that Trump, "at times veered wildly off-script from his prewritten speech, the text of which was reviewed by The Daily Beast earlier in the day. While at the private event, he inveighed against Republican, Democratic, and celebrity enemies, and again denounced the 2020 presidential election outcome as 'bullshit,' according to those in the audience."

Sunday afternoon, Politico Playbook reported the speech did not go over well with all who attended with the hope of seeing a plan from Republicans on how to take back the House and Senate in 2022.

According to the report, "A slew of well-heeled Republican National Committee donors descended on Palm Beach this weekend, excited to be schmoozed, eager for access to Donald Trump and other potential 2024 nominees, but mostly interested in hearing how far their dollars would go toward winning back the Congress and White House," before adding, "Trump's speech didn't do any of that. "

According to one donor who attended, "It was horrible, it was long and negative," before adding, "It was dour. He didn't talk about the positive things that his administration has done."

Politico also reported that a few donors were spotted out dining elsewhere while the president droned on.

"Many major donors have been fed up with Trump's antics since Jan. 6. While Trump was speaking, we spotted at least two — both of whom received prominent appointments during his administration — out dining with friends at a local restaurant in Palm Beach rather than sitting through the former president's dinner at Mar-a-Lago," Playbook reports.

As I have been saying not all conservative/Republicans are traitors to the United States of America. Only about 90% are.

Liz Cheney says she won't support Trump in 2024 — after 'gravest violation of an oath of office by any president'

    AFP

On Fox News Wednesday, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said that she will not back former President Donald Trump if he is nominated by the Republican Party for a third time in 2024.

"If Donald Trump were the 2024 nominee, would you support him?" asked anchor Neil Cavuto.

"I would not," said Cheney. She went on to say that Trump's incitement of the insurrection on the U.S. Capitol was "the gravest violation of an oath of office by any president in American history."

Cheney, the third-ranking member of the House GOP, was one of ten Republicans to vote to impeach Trump in connection with the Capitol riot. She has faced fury from within her own caucus, and although she narrowly managed to avoid being removed from her leadership position, she is already drawing primary challenges for her perceived disloyalty to the former president.

Trump campaign sent to collections after unpaid security bills — and other cities could follow

It is official, former President Donald Trump's campaign has been sent to collections for refusing to pay his security bills.

Raw Story has been following the complicated issue of the security debate since Trump entered official. The disagreement is that Trump's campaign believes that he shouldn't have to pay for any additional security because he's covered by the Secret Service. The problem with that is that the Secret Service is assigned to protect Trump, not run the security at a political event.

When Trump held a rally that needed police to direct traffic, crews to do overtime to scan for weapons at the doors, patrol the venue site or even remove protesters, those were local officers who Trump's campaign should have paid for.

As of July 2020, Trump had over $2 million in unpaid security bills that stacked up from Pennsylvania to New Mexico.

It was reported by the Albuquerque Journal in October that their city sent Trump an invoice for $211,175.94 for barricades and overtime for officers to be on hand for the event. At last check, that hadn't been paid along with the several other cities.

Business Insider reported in July 2020 that the Pennsylvania rally with former running mate Mike Pence was another campaign event that incurred a bill for handling security for a political event. Over the nearly five years that Trump has been running a campaign, he hasn't paid the bills to the city.

Now, the city of Albuquerque is demanding their payment. Trump's rally was held nearby in Rio Rancho, where city officials covered the security costs as Trump stayed at a hotel nearby, The Albuquerque Journal reported. But that didn't account for the thousands in costs spent to deal with his rally.

After Trump stiffed the city and still refused to pay, the city is fighting back.

In another debate, Trump refused to pay the city of Minneapolis after stacking up over $530,000 in security costs for a 2019 rally. The mayor there was furious and fought back at the time.

Trump and Mayor Jacob Frey got into it over $530,000 in security fees that the Trump campaign owed after a rally. So, the mayor tried to block the use of any and all further city-owned facilities until Trump paid up. The Trump campaign responded to it by threatening to sue the mayor. The campaign claimed that they were being denied access to the Target Center and that the "liberal" mayor was attempting to stifle free speech. The mayor responded by saying that in Minneapolis they pay their bills.

"As we continue confronting extraordinary challenges at the local level, our federal leaders have the opportunity – and obligation – to stand up for taxpayers by ensuring they're not left footing the bill for political events," Mayor Frey said in his statement. "We have a duty to protect free speech regardless of the content, but we don't have to subsidize it."

In their case, the Target Center agreed to eat $100,000 in the costs from the 2019 rally. That, however, presents a problem because $100,000 in corporate funds is a violation of campaign finance law. It's unclear if anyone has ever filed that complaint because it likely isn't included on Trump's campaign finance documents as an in-kind contribution.

It's unclear if other cities will follow the lead on sending the campaign to collections, but they certainly could. Trump continues to solicit money for his campaign and super PAC and both committees are still open.

This is a very good sign for future representations, I see a moderate leftist won a vacated seat in NOLA, and a radical left lost her chance to further that radical agenda that we are seeing implemented .

Troy Carter wins Louisiana's 2nd Congressional District seat in special election runoff

Troy Carter fulfilled a long-held ambition Saturday as voters in the 2nd Congressional District elected him to the U.S. House of Representatives, triumphing over Karen Carter Peterson after a bruising campaign between two Democratic state senators from New Orleans who agreed on issues more often than not.

Carter won the race with 55% of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Louisiana Secretary of State. He notched 48,511 votes to Peterson's 39,295 in the runoff that saw just 16.6% of voters turn out to the polls.

Peterson emphasized progressive views during the campaign and won Chambers’ endorsement. Peterson also had the support of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Georgia’s Stacey Abrams, U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, the Black Lives Matter PAC, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC, the Working Families Party and EMILY’s List, which supports pro-abortion rights female Democrats.

Carter noted his support from Richmond and such Biden allies in the House as U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn from South Carolina and U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries from New York. He also had the support of Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams; East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome; Helena Moreno, an at-large New Orleans City Council member; Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, a Republican; and all eight of the Black state senators not running in the race.

Rep. Tim Ryan Announces Run For Ohio Senate With Video Heavy on Workers and Football

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) launched a bid for Senate on Monday.

The former presidential candidate is the first Democrat in the race to replace Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), who is not running for reelection in 2022.

In a campaign video posted to Twitter, Ryan announced his bid. The video, with a cameo from Ryan’s son Brady put a heavy emphasis on workers, jobs, community, and football (Ryan was a high school quarterback.)

    Tim Ryan
    @TimRyan

I'm running for U.S. Senate to fight like hell to cut workers in on the deal.

“The success of America isn’t housed in the halls of Congress,” Ryan said in the video. “It lies in the calloused hands and the unrelenting grit of America’s workers. Those who dug the deepest sent our nation soaring.”

While Ryan is the first Democrat to enter the race in Ohio — a state former President Donald Trump won in 2020 by eight points — the Republican field is crowded.

Former Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel, former Ohio Republican Party leader Jane Timken, Cleveland car dealer Bernie Moreno, and businessman Mike Gibbons are all competing for the nomination (and Trump’s support).

Trump could be forced to testify at New York trial after court dismisses his appeal

Former President Donald Trump potentially testifying in a New York lawsuit filed by a group of protesters who claim his bodyguards assaulted them came one step closer to reality this Tuesday, The Daily Beast reports.

The lawsuit is in regards to an incident in 2015 where the protesters gathered outside Trump Tower in New York to protest Trump's remarks disparaging Mexican immigrants. According to the lawsuit, several of Trump's bodyguards "violently attacked" the protesters.

As president, Trump tried to avoid the subpoena demanding that he testify and sit for a videotaped deposition beforehand. His request was denied and his lawyers appealed in 2019. But this Tuesday, the state's Appellate Division dismissed the appeal.

"This appeal concerning the proper standard for determining whether a sitting President may be compelled to give videotaped trial testimony about unofficial acts in a civil action against him or her is moot given that the rights of parties will not be directly affected by our determination," the court said in its ruling, "and that there will not be an immediate consequence of the judgment."
