When I was a first-year college student, there was this guy who took an interest in me, which quickly blossomed into out-and-out obsession. I liked him, but I was already involved with someone -- I just wasn't available.

Anyway, he followed me around the campus. He would get drunk and camp out in the hallway of my dorm room all night. He wrote me letters every day, expression very tragic sentiments. It went on for months, with him constantly whining to others about how much he loved me, and how could I be such a faithless bitch and treat him so cruelly. I tried to explain to him that it just wasn't going to happen...even tried the "can't we just be friends" thing.

But in the end, people shouldn't need a reason not to enter into a relationship with someone else, even if they have a perfectly good one. TWO people have to choose, not just one.

 

An obsession is different than rejection. Obsession can be a freakin' scary thing and at times requires authoritive interventions. In my travels I've had a few obsessed individuals with me and its hard to get the point across that you are not interested when the other person refuses to listen let alone hear what you are saying or why your saying it.

- Rejection it a normal part of life and we grow up with it

- Obsession is not, there's an abundance of insecurity when someone becomes obsessed with another

 

It's a matter of degree. An inability to accept rejection can become obsession. My point is, people have to learn to accept the reality of a given situation, and move on. Some people learn this when they should -- as a child. Others don't.

 

Without getting to phycological here ...

Kimi there is always a reason for everything we do ... for instance I feel compelled to disagree with you as logic has it we are always thinking always moving and always have our own objectives whether we recognize them or not. Certain individuals just don't fit into our goals so we reject them for various reasons. It's a normal part of life.

Rejection hurts like hell but you get over it and become harder to it as you get older.

Obsession is one scarey piece of shit, wont even go there and bore you sensless but I had a bad experience with this. I will say no more!

Thanks everyone. I have been rejected before for coming on to strong, but it wasn't like that. It was deeper more meaningful. but its has gotten easier with time
