Has anyone read my stories?

Seems far fewer are reading stories at sexstories and no one is commenting. I have two stories here that I would normally post there but it hardly seems worth the time to format and deal with their two-three saves and it gets posted policy. Makes it difficult to properly edit.

This leads to a backlog of stories as I've started a new multi-part effort. Is anyone else getting their normal viewer levels and any comments?

Hey, NC. I rarely get comments anymore. One of my oldest stories has 20 comments over five years, but that is a definite outlier. Most get zero, and some. maybe one or two comments, and that's it. I liked it when anonymous comments were allowd. We got more, but got a lot of haters. flamers, and trolls. Simply, based on the genre (Gay, incest, etc.). You could report them, but that's just more work for the admins, right?

I notice some newer authors get a lot of comments. I wonder if readers are encouraging good, new, authors, and since we've been around a while, they probably already commented on our stories and have nothing more to say. Come to think of it, I've done that myself, commenting on a new author's unique style or story-line then not commenting again. I've already said what I wanted to say to them.

A good rating, decent read rates, and the rare comment are all we can hope for. I'm sure we all get a little excited when we see an ever elusive comment - I do.

As for read counts, I look at them, but don't really track them historically, so I cant' comment. Maybe they admins fixed the bot issue causing sky-high read-rates. Remember seeing those outrageous number for a new story? I still think 100,000 reads is amazing, even if a number of readers bail after opening it. But you'd think one or two of the 100,000 could leave a 'well done' or a 'thanks for the boner!' comment?

I stay here because the censorship is reasonable (recently, anyway. At least they are not still banning stories about some cartoon characters because they are underage). I've tried a few other sites but they all have their issues - censorship, spam or unusable interface. I'll stick around unless something better comes along.

Hello fellow writers,

I wanted to share something amazing that happened to me yesterday. We all complain about the lack of comments for the work we put our blood, sweat and tears into, but I had something even better happen. I don't mean this to brag, but it pleased me to no end, and who else could I share this with? My writing is a dirty little secret I keep hidden from my friends and family. Please don't hate me!

Anyway, I recently got into Discord and created a server page for my writings. I only had a few people join, and not a lot of comments (eh, more like zero, just like here). But yesterday I received a friend request and noticed we shared a couple of servers in common, so I accepted.

Wow. They immediately began chatting with me and went on about some some obscure story I wrote years ago. I pulled the story from xnxx because of the low ratings and read rates. I posted it on another site - eight full chapters in a specific sub-forum and received nothing at all in feedback - not. one. single. comment. Fuck! I was so proud of it too.

This person originally found the first few chapters of the story on the old mostly defunct ASSTR website and thought that was all I wrote. Then, they told me how excited they were to find the other chapters on the other site I mentioned. Then, they found me and "couldn't believe they were actually chatting with me," like I was a fucking Kardashian or something. They told me how that story inspired them to write, and asked me to read their stuff on Literatica. I shared some excepts from an unfinished chapter and they were actually excited and were happy I was still writing it. We chatted about certain lines and concepts in the overall story and genre. This person really knew the story well, rattling off lines, etc... Damn, it felt good to know someone, somewhere, really, really, liked at least one story I've written. I thought I was being pranked at first and was waiting for the 'Never gonna give you up' song to start playing. And yeah, I took their praise as being a little over the top, and probably sprinkled with a little or a lot of bullshit powder, but it still made me..., what's the word? I'm not used to this strange feeling. Happy? Yes, happy. They made my fucking day!

Moral of this long story is...? What? Don't give up, I guess. And comments alone are not a true indicator of how well someone likes your story. You never know who, if, or how, your story might affect someone. Shit, I only hope they get aroused reading it like I do writing it. One of my favorite comments of all time is; "Thanks for helping me shoot a big load!" Well, yeah. Honest feedback. Thanks, that's kinda what I write them for. I'm no fucking Hemingway. I write shitty, amateurish, perverted porn. It's great and a little brave of someone to leave a comment after all. They are in essence admitting to liking whatever sick porn they were reading (OK, not everyone writes, sick perverted porn, but I do).

Thanks for reading my ramblings. I'm going to try to remember those few rare readers who took the time to say something nice about my stories. They are few and far between. And If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard. Because if it isn’t there, I never really lost it to begin with! Is that right? Oh wait, that's the Wizard of Oz. Never mind.

It's sad you don't get the love you deserve uu, I loved your movie night series even though we never got the anal scene with the daughter we deserved. I've read few writers work that's as accomplished I can honestly say I probably wouldn't be trying to write if I hadn't read your stories and a couple of others.

I'm guilty of consuming stories fapping and leaving a think most people do this, this is the main reason why people don't give feedback. Don't feel bad though it might be the highlight of their day

 

The thing I find funny about the whole complaints about lack comments is when a reader does leave a comment the author usually does not acknowledge the comment. If you want comments, engage with the reader. This will show other readers that you care about them just as much as they cared about writing a comment.

It's a give and take. I receive plenty of comment because I engage with my readers.

If you re-post an old story, the reads and rates stay with it. Check the date. Caught me a couple of times, where you say WTF?
