The report that threats against legislators are at record highs is pretty much a fluff piece.
It gives few details, and no verifiable details.
In media, this is referred to as a fluff piece.
It's intent is not to communicate something of import to the audience.
It's intent is to provide the foundation for later items, generally intended to further a political agenda.

An example would be a report on the IRS failures to properly audit greedy billionaire tax returns. The idea is not to report on IRS efficiency (an oxymoron, don't you agree?) but rather to lay the foundation for increasing IRS budgets so, you know, they can hire more auditors and abuse billionaires.

Here we see yet another report on violence in the capitol.
Fresh on the heels of the September 18 "unevent".
The lead up to it was how there were increasing reports of violence being planned, and rumors that trump himself planned to attend, and then reports that trump was not only not attending, but he was "calling off" (wink, wink) his supporters and telling them not to attend.
So anyway, nothing happened on September 18, which torpedoed the media anticipation of a long news cycle for any hint of violence on September 18.
And now we're getting more fluff pieces on the topic.
We'll have to wait until the other shoe drops to know what the real agenda is.

White supremacist TikTok star sobs as judge hands down his sentence for firearms offenses

Paul Nicholas Miller, a 30-year-old white supremacist, was sentenced to 41 months in prison for multiple firearms offenses this week. According to reports, he "sobbed" during his sentencing.

As NBC Miami points out, Miller admitted that he had bought the ammunition "in preparation for a coming civil war," prosecutors said in a news release. "In the months immediately before his arrest, Miller had made hundreds of internet posts publicizing his animosity towards various minority groups and his support for the initiation of a race-based civil war in the United States."

Miller has been tied to more than one extremist group, including the Proud Boys and the "Boogaloo" Movement. He often posted photos of himself dressed as the Joker while calling for a racial civil war to his thousands of followers on TikTok.

‘Atomwaffen’ hate group leader convicted on five counts — including conspiracy: report

The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington announced the conviction of the "Leader of the Neo-Nazi hate group Atomwaffen" on five federal felonies for a conspiracy to threaten journalists and employees of the Anti-Defamation League.

Following a two day trial and 90 minutes of jury deliberations, Kaleb Cole, 25, of Texas was convicted in the U.S. District Court in Seattle of conspiracy, three counts of mailing threats and one count of interfering with protected activity, the Department of Justice said in a statement.

"According to records in the case and testimony at trial, Cole, and other members of Atomwaffen participated in a plot to intimidate journalists and others by mailing threatening posters or gluing the posters to victims' homes," DOJ announced. "The group focused primarily on those who are Jewish or journalists of color. Kaleb Cole created the posters, which told the recipients that 'you have been visited by your local Nazis.'"

The threats occurred in January of 2020.

"In January 2020, the coconspirators printed and delivered or mailed the posters to journalists or others the group was targeting. In the Seattle area, the posters were mailed to a TV journalist who had reported on Atomwaffen, and to two individuals associated with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). In Tampa, the group targeted a journalist, but delivered the poster to the wrong address. In Phoenix, the poster was glued to a bedroom window at the residence of the editor of a Jewish lifestyle magazine," DOJ announced.

Arson suspect sought after throwing 'Molotov cocktail' into Travis County Democrats' Austin office

Austin firefighters and police responded to the office at about 2 a.m. Thursday after receiving a 911 call about the fire. Neighbors were able to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher before firefighters arrived, Austin Fire Capt. Brandon Jennings said.

Investigators watched footage from security cameras that the Travis County Democrats installed last year after a similar attack, said Kate Naranjo, Travis County Democratic Party chair.


Jennings said the footage shows a man — wearing black shorts, black and gray tennis shoes and a gray T-shirt along with a face mask and bandana — walking around the building and then picking up a projectile, possibly a rock.

The man threw the item at the building once but nothing broke. He threw it a second time, which caused a break in the building's door.

The man then placed the incendiary device inside the building and the fire began. But Jennings said the actual device that was placed did not ignite. A stack of papers was set on fire and a smoke bomb was left behind, he said.

"It's very common to us. It's known by the public most often as a Molotov cocktail," Jennings said of the device.



Previously in November 2020, vandals struck, damaging the windows, exterior walls and doors of the Travis County Democratic Party headquarters. Graffiti had been written in red on the outside walls of the building. One message read, “The working class can have only 1 party.” Another sign read, “Reconstitute the Communist Party.”

No staff or volunteers were at the building during the 2020 incident and no items were stolen from the building, authorities said at the time.


The man linked to Wednesday's fire is also suspected of vandalizing the Ned Granger Building, which houses Travis County administrative offices downtown. Two hours after the fire, the man was captured on camera footage outside the Granger Building.

Jennings did not describe what kind of vandalism was committed. Texas Department of Public Safety officials are working with Austin fire officials on the vandalism incident.

School Officials Beg Biden and FBI for Protection Against Threats From ‘Angry Mobs’

An organization representing tens of thousands of school officials across the U.S. has appealed to the federal government for help in protecting school staffers under “immediate threat.” In a letter sent Wednesday, National School Boards Association President Viola Garcia and Interim Executive Director and CEO Chip Slaven appeal directly to President Joe Biden, asking him to step in amid rising threats to school officials due to the right-wing furor surrounding mask mandates and critical race theory. “As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes,” the letter says.

It goes on to detail several recent incidents of “threats or actual acts of violence” against school officials, including “angry mobs” derailing school board meetings and at least one instance of alleged aggravated battery during a meeting. The group is asking for assistance from the FBI and U.S. Secret Service in assessing and monitoring threats to school officials, and for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to help filter out threatening letters targeting staffers, board members, and students.

School districts have to comply with hundreds of state and federal laws and regulations. They can be dictated to by their insurance companies. And always the overriding factor is creating a learning environment. And that takes true professionals that know what they are doing to create a smooth and safe running environment that allows students to learn, It is an incredibly delicate balance. that must be constantly maintained by people working their asses off.

And they are just sitting ducks for these far right domestic terrorists because everything a school board does has to be done in open meetings. So there is nowhere to escape from them because you have to keep the school running and pay the bills every month.

A suspect wearing an American flag over his head placed a molotov cocktail and a threatening note that was "political in nature" inside the Travis County Democratic Party headquarters in Austin early Wednesday.

The crude device did not fully detonate but resulted in a small fire, causing minor damage, according to a report from Austin's ABC affiliate.

The suspect, whom one investigator suggested was inexperienced, also left what appeared to be a commercial-grade smoke bomb in the building, and the attack was captured on surveillance video.

No further details were released about the note, but authorities believe the suspect committed another act of vandalism a few hours later at a building near the Texas Capitol.

It marks the second time in a year that vandals have targeted the Travis County Democratic Party headquarters, although the incident marks an escalation from when the building was graffitied in 2020, the Houston Chronicle reports.

"Anyone who wears an American flag as a bandana and then throws a Molotov cocktail with fireworks into a building with a note, a threatening note, is a coward," said Katie Naranjo, chair of the Travis County Democratic Party.

"We will not tolerate that type of behavior," Naranjo added. "We are calling not just Travis County, but across the state, to denounce any acts of violence or aggression when it comes to voting or engaging in our government or engaging in our right to freedom of speech.

"What we've seen on January 6, 2021, to now there's been continued aggression and escalation of violence against Democratic parties as well as institutions of government," she said. "Those people are cowards. They're far-right extremists. This is an act of terror."

According to a report from the Daily Beast, a Florida man who is currently being investigated for taking part in the Jan 6th Capitol riot was taken into custody Saturday night after he and a friend crashed a boat in Pinellas County while drunk.

An arrest report from the sheriff's office states that Paul Rae, 38 , was taken into custody late Saturday after law enforcement et officials were alerted to the crash.

The report states, "On October 2, 2021 at approximately 10:00 p.m., deputies assigned to the Marine Unit responded to a small island in the intercostal waterway near 794 182nd Avenue East. Multiple witnesses reported the crash after the vessel was traveling northbound at high speed. The vessel ran aground on the small island and deputies located it approximately 75 feet from the water line. Also located on the island were Rae and his passenger, both uninjured and showing signs of impairment."

Taken into custody was Rae who, the report notes, "is currently on federal supervised release status due to his indictment in the January 6, 2021 incident at the US Capitol."

Rae was reportedly released early on his own recognizance Sunday morning, and is facing charges of Boating under the Influence.

On Monday, in a new letter reported by the Huffington Post's Ryan J. Reilly, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced new actions from the Justice Department and the FBI to protect educators around the country from what he described as a "disturbing spike in threats of violence against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff" at public schools.

"Threats against public servants are not only illegal, they run counter to our nation's core values," wrote Garland. "Those who dedicate their time and energy to ensuring that our children receive a proper education in a safe environment deserve to be able to do their work without fear for their safety."

Garland will be directing the FBI, in conjunction with U.S. attorneys, to "open up lines of communication" with schools to make it easier to report threats.

This action comes as the National School Boards Association issued an urgent plea to the DOJ to assist against threats, which have been driven in part by anger over mask mandates and other COVID-19 safety measures. Many recent town halls have been inundated by angry mobs, sometimes with Republican congressmen egging them on.

Trump supporter arrested in suspicious SUV outside Supreme Court: 'The time for talking is done'

An apparent supporter of former president Donald Trump was arrested Tuesday after Capitol police used a flash-bang to extract him from a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.

"This morning at about 9:30 a.m., a man pulled his SUV up in front of the Supreme Court," Deputy Chief Jason Bell said during a news conference, according to Law & Crime. "It was illegally parked. Our officers immediately responded. The man refused to talk, made a statement to the effect of, 'The time for talking is done.'"




The suspect was identified as Dale Paul Melvin, 55, of Kimball, Michigan. According to Law & Crime, "Court records from St. Clair County, which includes that town, show several alleged traffic violations and one domestic violence case under that name."

The Daily Mail notes that, "A glance at Melvin's Facebook page reveals several posts indicating that he is a supporter of former President Donald Trump, and a critic of Democrats including former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton."

Melvin's arrest came on the same day as a court appearance for 49-year-old Floyd Ray Roseberry, who made bomb threats outside the Library of Congress in August after driving his pickup truck onto a sidewalk — before live-streaming tirades against President Joe Biden on Facebook.

The deeply critical montage was referenced by MSNBC host Chris Hayes on Tuesday, October 5, reports HuffPost. During the segment, Hayes pushed back against the Republican lawmaker's disapproval of the U.S. Department of Justice's efforts to increase surveillance and monitoring of threats made toward school administrative officials and education boards.
