Capitol Police Arrest Man Armed With Molotov Cocktails

The arrest comes after several weeks of protests over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the case that made abortion legal on a federal level. The decision has been met with intense criticism on the left, and there have been several examples of the lives of Supreme Court justices being threatened, both before and after the ruling was made official.

On June 8, an armed man was arrested near the home of Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The suspect, 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske of Simi Valley, California, was carrying a gun, knife and pepper spray when arrested and had made violent threats against Kavanaugh.

This threat and others prompted the House and Senate to pass a bill increasing security for Supreme Court justices and their families. The bill passed the Senate with unanimous consent, and in the House 27 voted against the bill. All nay votes were Democrats.

    1. darkride
To be fair, carrying a gun is now completely legal, isn't it? Didn't the Supreme Court themselves just pass that? So - why is it mentioned here? Nothing unusual about a gun.

Crime Wave: Starbucks Closing 16 Locations Over 'Safety Concerns'
By Bob Hoge | Jul 12, 2022 8:00 PM ET

Starbucks is closing 16 locations in cities around the nation after the coffee giant’s employees reported a string of “personal safety” incidents, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday. Translation: Crime is skyrocketing and our workers are too terrified to even show up at these locations

The company will shutter six stores in both Seattle and Los Angeles, two in Portland, and one each in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. by the end of July. What do all those locations have in common? They’re in deep-blue areas with soft-on-crime district attorneys and past support of the “defund the police” movement. How’d that work out for you?

Workers described the problems to the company in outreach sessions. In a Monday letter to employees, Senior Vice Presidents Debbie Stroud and Denise Nelson detailed what they learned:

You’re also seeing firsthand the challenges facing our communities – personal safety, racism, lack of access to healthcare, a growing mental health crisis, rising drug use, and more. With stores in thousands of communities across the country, we know these challenges can, at times, play out within our stores too. We read every incident report you file – it’s a lot.

It certainly is “a lot.” The company is also reversing course on its bathroom rules which, in a 2018 woke paroxysm, they decided to let anyone use, regardless of whether the person was a customer or not. The decision came with obvious safety concerns, and as it turns out, it led to problems. Now, store managers are again allowed to lock bathroom doors and restrict customers should they detect an unsafe situation.

Workers will also now be able to limit seating or cut back on operations, change store layouts, and other moves that they feel will make the space safer. Starbucks, in addition, said it would also offer active-shooter guidance and conflict de-escalation strategies.

    https://twitter.com/ChristineDrazan...ing-16-locations-over-safety-concerns-n593665

Starbucks isn’t the only company facing safety and violence issues. In a horrible story out of Southern California Monday, a string of pre-dawn robbery-shootings at six 7-11 stores left two dead and three wounded. It’s not clear if all the crimes are connected, but police are seeking the same lone gunman in at least three instances. The spree occurred on July 11, or 7/11, the day the chain celebrates its anniversary. “There’s no way it can be a coincidence of it being 7-Eleven, July 11,” said Officer Ryan Railsback, a spokesperson for the Riverside Police Department.

Call me crazy, but I’m guessing when the perp is finally arrested, he will be a violent felon on parole with a lengthy rap sheet.

Walgreen’s, meanwhile, has also been the victim of increased crime and has shuttered dozens of stores in the San Francisco area over the last two years. Organized retail theft, where gangs of criminals enter the store at once and grab whatever they want, plagued inner-city locations where police were seemingly unable or unwilling to crack down on the practice and where local politicians and a progressive district attorney were uninterested in the problem. (S.F. DA Chesa Boudin was recently recalled. We’ll see how his replacement works out.)

t’s sad to see these businesses under such an onslaught, and it’s a troubling sign of where our country is headed. From the WSJ:

Nicky DeClerico, a 65-year-old Philadelphia resident, said he curtailed his trips to Starbucks when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Now, he said, crime downtown has made him reluctant to return to the cafes.

Mr. DeClerico said he didn’t blame Starbucks employees for not wanting to work in urban stores, where he said thinly staffed locations could feel scary for workers. “If you have crime, nothing can survive,” he said.

The Defund the Police movement, “progressive” district attorneys, and feckless politicians have led to the massive rise in crime in the last two years. It’s time we get back to reality and deal with crime with actual penalties, not slaps on the wrist.

We always strive for perfection, we humans, knowing its not to be achieved.
The question is, does a bleeding heart liberal justice system that does not include accountability better for society than a more strict system that strives for perfection.

When those Shooter arrested went to court they still didn't think it was a fair system, if they were convicted.
If they were not convicted they thought it was more than fair.

Brawl breaks out in Los Angeles' Fashion District
The Santee Alley fight happened on Sunday
    [IMG]

A video shared on social media shows a violent brawl that broke out in Los Angeles' Fashion District last weekend.

The nearly 90-second clip of the Sunday chaos features multiple men swinging at each other with crutches in Santee Alley. It happened in the 1100 block of Santee Street between E. 11th and E. 12th streets.

A trash can is hurled by one man, and several bystanders filmed the fight.

The witness who took the video, Karissa Nachor, told FOX 11 that she and a group of around 12 people were visiting Santee Alley when a man came out of a store and "aggressively" asked them to move.

Nachor said the man started pushing a cart toward her and her boyfriend and began to call her boyfriend a racial slur.

Although security was called, according to Nachor, they did not do anything. That's when the man allegedly pushed her boyfriend and tried to steal his crutches.

Nachor said security used pepper spray and the brawl eventually ceased.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the area, confirming that the store owner filed a report, and they are continuing to investigate the incident.

Do you want the links, shooter? It's very well documented, everywhere. Ok, maybe not on Fox.

Trump urged his supporters to go to the Capitol Building at 1.10pm after spending an hour whipping them up into a frenzy with claims of the election being stolen, despite KNOWING that was all bullshit.

They over-ran police and by 2.10pm were breaking windows to gain access.

What was Trump doing? Sitting watching it on Fox News. If he had any doubts about the footage he was watching - he spoke on the phone with senators inside the Capitol, who confirmed they had to get out because of the rioters.

Did Trump act? Call for calm? No.

2.45pm - reports of shots fired. Did that spark Trump to call his supporters off? No. Instead at 3.15pm he posted a tweet for everyone to remain peaceful. That's his first action after seeing it all playing out live. A tweet.

It takes him until 4pm - almost 2 hours after the first window was broken - to actually stand up and make a video calling for an end to the violence.

He incited the crowd, KNOWING they were armed, told them to march on the Capitol. Was that EVER going to end peacefully after he spent an hour working them up with claims of FALSE election fraud? No. It wasn't. Go in Peace my ass.

President Biden on Friday condemned an attack on GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin (N.Y.) during an event for Zeldin’s gubernatorial campaign the night before, when a man carrying a sharp object confronted Zeldin on stage.

“I condemn the attack on Congressman Zeldin in the strongest terms,” Biden said in a statement. “As I’ve said before, violence has absolutely no place in our society or our politics. I am especially grateful for the courage of those who immediately intervened, and that he is unharmed and was able to continue his speech.

“I also want to thank the law enforcement officers who quickly took action and are investigating this attack that defies our fundamental democratic values,” Biden added.

The president tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday and has been working remotely while in isolation.

Zeldin was holding a rally in Monroe County, near Rochester, N.Y., when a man who appeared to be holding a blade approached Zeldin on stage. Photos and videos show Zeldin was able to grab the man’s wrist before others jumped on stage to restrain him. The congressman was unharmed.

David Jakubonis was charged with attempted assault in the second degree, a felony. He was arraigned on Wednesday night and released on his own recognizance, according to the Monroe County sheriff’s office.

“After being charged with a felony for last night’s attack, the man who tried to stab me was instantly released back onto the street due to New York’s insane cashless bail law. We MUST repeal cashless bail in New York!” Zeldin tweeted on Friday.

NYC man fatally stabbed in random daylight attack as city on track to break 2021 violence rate

SIDEWALK SLAYING: Man randomly stabbed to death in front of wife as crime surges in Dem-run city

A 35-year-old father was fatally stabbed Thursday in a random New York City attack as the city approaches a violent crime rate that could top last year's numbers.

New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers arrested 19-year-old suspect Franklin Mesa, who faces charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, NYPD confirmed to Fox News Digital.

Officers responded to the attack on the 3200 block of Decratur Ave. in the Bronx just after 1 p.m. Thursday, where they located the victim, Nathaniel Rivers, a father of one, according to The New York Post. Authorities transported Rivers to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his wounds.

"It doesn't look like they knew each other," an NYPD public information officer said when asked about a motive in the attack.

    https://twitter.com/ABC7NY/status/1...ht-attack-city-track-break-2021-violence-rate

The attack reportedly happened in front of Rivers' wife, who attempted to ward off the attacker with a crowbar, according to the Post.

A neighbor who identified herself as Sunshine to the outlet described Rivers as the "best person in the world."

"He would give you the shirt off his back. Whatever you needed he would help you with. He was that kind of a person," she said.

An investigation into the fatal stabbing is ongoing, and police could not immediately confirm Mesa's criminal history, but the suspect's sister told the Post on the condition of anonymity that her brother is "schizophrenic, so he has mental problems." She added that he takes medication but was not sure if he took it on Thursday before the stabbing.

Residents in the Norwood area described the suspect as a neighborhood menace to the Post.

"I hear from the community now, that they have had some encounters [with him]," the neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told the outlet. "Situations that were hostile, aggressive. The lady across the street — her kids play here — she said that he tried [to] prevent her from getting on the bus. Getting in front of her. And she was like, ‘What are you doing?’"

The fatal stabbing comes as New York City is on pace to break its 2021 and 2020 violent crime rates.

While the murder rate is down year-over-year (238 murders so far this year compared to 252 at the same time last year), all other violent crime categories have increased since this time in 2021. Overall violent crime has risen more than 37%.

Incidents of rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny and grand larceny auto have increased year-over-year. All other categories except for shooting incidents and shooting victims have also increased. Shooting incidents are down more than 9%, with 747 recorded so far this year compared to 833 at this time last year.

Baltimore, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Atlanta are also on track to break last year's violent crime rates.

DOJ indictment of Zeldin attacker highlights ‘exceptionally odd’ decision by DA who co-chairs his campaign

    Bob Brigham
    July 23, 2022

The federal indictment of the man who attacked New York GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin as he stumped for governor is drawing increased attention to the actions of the local district attorney who let the suspect free while she co-chairs his campaign.

"The man accused of attempting to stab New York gubernatorial nominee Rep. Lee Zeldin onstage at a campaign event has been arrested on a federal assault charge, a spokesperson for the US Attorney’s Office in the Western District of New York said, after he was released on his own recognizance shortly following an initial arrest Thursday," CNN reported. "David Jakubonis, 43, was arrested Saturday and charged with assaulting a member of Congress with a dangerous weapon, according to Barbara Burns, a Department of Justice spokesperson. Jakubonis made his first court appearance before US Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson in Rochester on Saturday."

Jakubonis had previously been charged attempted assault in the second degree under state law, which allowed him to be released from jail.

That charge resulted in the Fox News headline, "Lee Zeldin on attacker's NY cashless bail release: 'We keep hearing too many of these stories.'"

And Zeldin campaigned on the issue.

But not unlike Uvalde, the story completely fell apart under scrutiny.

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Dorley could have charged Jakubonis with crimes that would've prevented his release from jail.

"In the case of Mr. Jakubonis, the Monroe County district attorney could have chosen to charge him with a violent felony, which would have qualified the case for potential bail, and pushed to keep him behind bars," The New York Times reported.

Legal analysts said the decision looked extremely suspicious.

"NY GOP Rep. Lee Zeldin is blaming the release of the man who allegedly attacked him on bail reform. The man was released because the DA very strangely charged him with a non-bail eligible offense. That DA - Sandra Doorley - is co-chair of Zeldin's campaign," New York attorney Rebecca Kavanagh wrote.

"Can you imagine any other case where a political candidate is rushed onstage by someone with a weapon and then only charged with an E-level felony?" she asked. "By one of the most pro law and order prosecutors in the country no less."

New York civil rights attorney Scott Hechinger also found it suspicious.

"She inexplicably declined to charge him with a violent felony and seek bail. As she would have done in any other case. This isn’t about bail reform. This is a scandal," he concluded.

Hechinger expanded his analysis to Raw Story.

"Obviously I don’t know what her intent was. But it’s exceptionally odd. And also very inconsistent with the way she and other DAs operate," he explained.

"I’m not advocating that he should have been charged with a higher offense, just that he could have and any prosecutor — even 'progressive' ones — would have gone as harsh as possible to avoid the political backlash for not doing so," he explained. "So we have to ask why in this, of all cases, was any DA, let alone this DA with her connection to Zeldin and history of fighting against bail reform tooth and nail, surprisingly lenient."

"It’s really odd that Zeldin predicted what she’d do. Release. And oh so convenient. Again — it wouldn’t ordinarily even be a question in a case like this that a prosecutor (whether warranted or not) would charge a violent felony and ensure the person was jailed pretrial," Hechinger said. "Imagine the outcry by Zeldin against any other prosecutor who charged the person with the lower charges available. Why is he not focusing on her? Because it’s so convenient to be able to blame bail reform."

And thats how it works, despicable propaganda.
Cashless bail, a despicable love child, is highlighted. Despicables promptly mention the current demon scandle (Uvalde) and then spin the entire saga to blame it on someone or something else.

Like I said this is getting really interesting. Why did the co chair of Lee Zeldin's campaign release his attacker on a minor charge that didn't require bail? I mean if you read what treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans its a miracle h wasn't killed with a self defense key chain. So why did the prosecutor that is also a part of Zeldin's campaign just let him walk free? But at least the feds aren't fucking around and has charged him a much more serious crime.

And now the left wing violence propaganda takes another hit. Its impossible to apply that narrative if the attacker didn't even know who Zeldin is.

Man Who Accosted Rep. Lee Zeldin Claims He Didn’t Know Who He Was

The upstate New York man hit with federal charges for rushing at Rep. Lee Zeldin with a pointy self-defense keychain in his hand claims he didn’t know who the congressman was. David Jakubonis, 43, told investigators that he had been swilling whiskey before he walked by the gathering where Zeldin, a candidate for New York governor, was speaking to a veterans group, according to court papers. By his account, he went on stage to ask Zeldin if he was disrespecting vets and then “must have checked out.” Jakubonis was released on bond after his arrest—and then the feds stepped in and re-arrested him on an assault rap.
