And after each of the witnesses testifying how they told those things to his face they play the clips of Trump making those claims again AFTER he has been told the truth.

Instead of calling off the insurrectionists Trump incites them more with his tweets about Mike Pence. More Secret Service communications this is not going to be good for Pence.

This is also interspersed with the floor speeches by McConnell and McCarthy condemning Trump and blaming him for inciting the insurrection.

And now Trump's own cabinet members and White House staff explaining why they resigned immediately after the insurrection. And man did Chow ever use it to make herself look good and Trump look like shit. No wonder Trump hates her and McConnell.

 

Raskin now explaining how insurrection is prohibited in multiple places in the Constitution and it is the president's job to stop them and restore order. Not incite an armed insurrection and then do nothing but inflame the attack.

CNN writer frets Americans care more about 'cost of French fries' than 'compelling' Jan. 6 committee

A new CNN analysis fretted that American voters might care more about the cost of their food than they do about the Jan. 6 hearings.

Noting Thursday’s Consumer Price Index data which showed inflation reaching 8.2% in September, as well as a cost-of-living index at its highest level since 1982, CNN's Stephen Collinson noted polling has repeatedly reinforced that the economy is the top concern to voters heading into the midterm elections. The data included information about frozen potato products, as well as pork products, which have increased 10% and 5.5%, respectively.

 

Which is why now Chairman Bennie Thompson is explaining that they really have no choice but to talk to Trump about it. Liz Cheney seconds a motion to issue a subpoena and is now explaining why it is necessary. We have found evidence of multiple crimes and referrals. But to know the full story we must talk to Trump.

Cheney is now going through all Trump's henchmen like Stone Eastman and Clark all taking the 5th. Bannon convicted. Peter Navarro Meadows refuse to testify. Our duty is to our country, our children, and the Constitution to hear from the man responsible for all this himself.

The resolution passes on voice vote without objection but Cheney calls for a recorded vote. And that is one of those great TV moments to watch each and every member on the committee go on the record.

 

Its going to actually take years to unpack and write about everything that came out of this hearing just today. Decades or longer to write the history of it. The first attempted coup in American history resulting in an armed insurrection and attempt to overthrow the government itself. None of it secret. The plans from the right wing extremists were discussed in plain view. And the entire Trump administration knew it and did nothing.

And if one man, Mike Pence, had not refused to go along we would be living under a Trump dictatorship right now.

 

Carol Leonnig, Washington Post, and one of the best there is with a specialty of covering the Secret Service. She is a little shaken by all the communications going back and fourth between the Secret Service about all the threats and intelligence pouring in.

Leonig--Remember this is an agency where if someone is just mouthing off about killing the president in a bar there is a good chance he will get a visit from the Secret Service. Which I have seen myself when I drunk roughneck called the White House and said he was going to kill the president. He was still on the phone when a very grouchy local FBI agent came through the door really pissed off because he had to get out of bed and get down there.

And yet this same agency had all these threats, plans, and intelligence pouring in and did nothing? How can that possibly be?

 

I did not see this until now and I should have. The committee appears to have started with Trump's own speeches, and public statements that were all just outrageous lies and tailored many of their questions to witnesses to not only refute all of them but testify how they repeatedly informed Trump those were lies and just crazy stuff and them Trump continuing to push those lies to the American people AFTER he had been informed they were proven lies.

Its really powerful to see person after person sitting there under oath telling the truth and then video after video of Trump just blatantly lying to the American people when there is no doubt he knows they are lies.

 

January 6th Committee Tries One Last, Desperate Ploy to 'Get' Donald Trump

You’d be forgiven for not knowing about it given the latest inflation report that sits among a vast array of far more important things going on, but the January 6th committee is in the midst of holding another hearing on Thursday

All the broadcast networks are carrying it because they apparently like bad ratings in pursuit of partisan aims, and things have progressed as you’d expect. Rep. Benny Thompson, who chairs the committee, opened the hearing by asking “What did President Trump know? What was his role in a multi-part plan to overturn our election?”

Think about how absurd that is. This farce has been going on since early June, and these clowns are still asking questions they claimed to have already had answers for from the first drop of the gavel. What did Trump know? Well, I was assured that Liz Cheney and crew had evidence of what he knew. Where is it? Why are we still pretending there haven’t already been a multitude of these ridiculous hearings to this point, each more disappointing than the last?

In short, as I’ve said many times, this committee has absolutely nothing to offer, having not even begun to prove its chief assertions of a “seven-step plan” to overthrow the government led by Trump. That reality now has them lashing out with one last, desperate ploy to “get” the former president. According to NBC News, the committee will vote during Thursday’s hearing to subpoena Donald Trump to testify.

There’s no suspense here. The January 6th committee is filled with some of the most dishonest actors on Capitol Hill. Trump will be subpoenaed by the end of the day if this report is accurate, and it appears it is.

Regardless, what exactly do they expect to garner from Trump testifying? Do they think he’s going to come in and admit that he planned a coup? Spoiler: He clearly didn’t. Or is the goal to just get him in front of a television audience so they can play a bunch of clips of January 6th in the hope of getting him to defend it before the mid-terms? It’s most certainly the latter, and that’s what makes the move so incredibly partisan. It’s an abuse of the congressional system meant to take down a political opponent, not offer any relevant answers to the questions they claim to care about.

Then there’s the issue of whether the House can even subpoena Trump. No doubt, he will go to the courts in an attempt to not show up, and that could take months to work through. Do you know what the Democrats running the committee don’t have? They don’t have months. The moment the GOP officially takes control of the House in January (yeah, I’m not even entertaining the possibility that Democrats hold it), they will scuttle the January 6th committee with prejudice. That day is going to be incredibly entertaining given the gnashing of teeth it will no doubt cause.

In short, today’s vote is more shallow bluster from a bunch of desperate hacks who know they overplayed their hand. They promised the moon and they’ve delivered a pebble. The entire thing is a joke.

EXCLUSIVE: Former President Donald Trump "loves the idea of testifying" before the House select committee investigating January 6th, a source close to Trump told Fox News Digital just after the panel unanimously voted to subpoena him.

The source said that if Trump complied with the subpoena and testified, he would "talk about how corrupt the election was, how corrupt the committee was, and how Nancy Pelosi did not call up the National Guard that Trump strongly recommended for her to do three days earlier on January 3, 2021."

The committee — which consists of seven Democrats and two anti-Trump Republicans — voted Thursday to compel Trump to testify about his conduct leading up to and during the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital on Thursday, Trump slammed the committee and its investigation as a "witch hunt."

"The committee is a hoax, a sham, a partisan witch hunt which is a continuation of the witch hunt that has gone on since the great day for our country that I came down the golden escalator with our future first lady," Trump said. "They have no case, they have no ratings, so they have to try to do this to get publicity."

Trump told Fox News Digital that the investigation has been "a partisan witch hunt, together with two Republicans that have been thrown out of the party — one not wanting to run because he couldn’t win; and another losing by a record number of more than 40 points."


Trump was referring to Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., who lost her primary earlier this year, and Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., who decided not to run for re-election.
