The despicable propaganda machine is over revving trying to discredit the biden corruption investigation.

From this it becomes obvious they think there's fire in that smoke.

Their problem is, if biden doesn't run they have no one on the bench ready to go.

Pence is 'nakedly lying' about Trump's intent on Jan. 6: Former Homeland Security aide

Commentator and writer Miles Taylor is calling out former Vice President Mike Pence as a liar after watching a recent interview.

The former Homeland Security chief of staff, Taylor penned a new book, "Blowback: A warning to save democracy from the next Trump." In it, he describes a situation in which the team he worked on was forced to race back to the White House because Trump wanted to announce that he was going to use the Insurrection Act to deploy soldiers to the U.S.-Mexico border, along with other plans.

Speaking to MSNBC on Sunday, Taylor told Lindsey Reiser what struck him the most in the news Sunday was Pence's lies.

“I’ve said many times the president’s words were reckless that day. I had no right to overturn the election,” Pence told CNN’s “State of the Union" during an interview. "But while his words were reckless, based on what I know, I’m not yet convinced that they were criminal."

"I was very confounded by Mike Pence's comments this morning because in almost the same answer," Taylor said, referring to an interview the former VP did on Sunday. "We said that he was very clear with Donald Trump that it was wrong to try to overturn the election. That Pence didn't have the power. And then shortly after, he said he is not sure what Donald Trump's intent was. Literally, I am confounded by that. He just said it was clear Trump's intent was to try to obstruct the transfer of power. But he is just nakedly lying."

He noted that there are a number of candidates who should be trying to take down Trump in the primaries. Instead, they're "trying to give him slack."

Taylor went on to recall when he was forced to stop Trump from mentioning the Insurrection Act in the State of the Union address.

Rachel Maddow Is Still Waiting for a Republican to Say Trump ‘Didn’t Do It’

Rachel Maddow, broadcast journalist known for her MSNBC slot “The Rachel Maddow Show,” says the secret to successful journalist is simple: “Life is short. Tell the truth and see how it lands. That’s it.”

This year, Maddow is being honored with the 2023 Variety and Rolling Stone Truth Seekers Award. She sat down during the Truth Seekers Summit, presented by Showtime, with Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh to talk about her extensive career, the current landscape of journalism and the very recent indictment of the 45th president.

On the heels of Donald Trump’s third indictment, Setoodeh asked Maddow to share her views on the latest loop in the former president’s political rollercoaster.

“The linchpin there is that the justice department won’t indict you while you are in office as President committing crimes, they will wait until you leave office,” she said. “But when your crime is designed to keep you in office indefinitely, you can see the loophole, you can drive a U-Haul through.”

As the country has seen over the last decade, truths put forth by journalists are often eagerly subverted by large sects of Americans with their own ideas about what is fake journalism. Maddow says she doesn’t like to pay attention to these people because, well, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it believe that it’s really water.

Ramin Setoodeh, Co-Editor-In-Chief of Variety, and Rachel Maddow
“We need to do work as a country in terms of whether or not people believe in the scientific method, but that’s not necessarily journalists’ work. You have to just keep telling the truth and know that it’s the right thing to do,” Maddow said.

Setoodeh asked how Trump’s success as a potential 2024 presidential candidate affects her coverage. Does she revoke airtime dedicated to him? Is she afraid discussing him to any extent would just add fuel to the ongoing fire? She believes how the Republican party reacts to the criminal charges against the former president is the real story worth covering.

“For me, it means that the most important thing right now for the future of this country and our system of democracy is not the person of Donald Trump, it’s how does the Republican party contend with this as one of their leaders,” she said.

“I keep waiting for a Republican to say, ‘He didn’t do it,'” she added. “They’re not saying he didn’t commit these crimes, they’re just saying criminal charges and the legal constraints which we all operate within shouldn’t apply to him because he’s our leader.”

So as the 2024 election encroaches, Maddow hopes journalists continue to observe and report on how the Republican party continues to back him. “That’s news,” she said.

Maddow’s love for truth telling began as an activist for AIDS research and prison reform. As she worked on finishing her dissertation at Stanford, she took odd-jobs to stay afloat, and one of those was “news girl.” She auditioned live on-air and got hired on the spot: a match made in broadcast heaven. She ended up at MSNBC in 2008 when “The Rachel Maddow Show” replaced the “Verdict with Dan Abrams” in the network’s 9 p.m. slot.

Maddow got into the habit of opening her show with a long-winded note about a pertinent topic, a segment she coined “the A-block.”

“I do feel like I need to go back to the beginning, so that’s why those A-blocks are long, because I need a point of entry. Whatever it took me to understand it, I believe my audience might benefit from the same process,” she said. “Causation and context is everything.”

Today, Maddow appears on MSNBC on Mondays for a weekly broadcast, while also running three podcasts, one of which was optioned by Steven Spielberg in late 2022. “It’s really flattering and I hope it works, but I don’t understand the movie business at all,” she said.

As I said somewhere else treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans obviously don't watch MSNBC. But they should before they go Ari Melbers show. Melber was a lawyer himself before becoming a TV host and so the thinks like a lawyer. He prepares his evidence and is really good at cross examination. And get them to all but convict themselves.

'Malpractice': Legal expert shreds John Eastman's lawyer for defending coup plot

    (Screen grab from MSNBC).

John Eastman's lawyer is engaged in "malpractice" to try to defend his client's actions surrounding the 2020 plot to overturn the presidential election, former Solicitor General Neal Katyal argued on MSNBC Monday.

This comes shortly after the attorney, Charles Burnham, claimed that his client was "reasonable" in pursuing a pardon from former President Donald Trump after allegedly drafting a memo outlining an illegal scheme to throw out electors — even though Burnham insisted his client is innocent.

"He's got a tough job to do. He is trying to do it. Notably, Charles Burnham's not doing what John Eastman did, which was plot a coup actively, he's just trying, after the fact, to defend it," Katyal said.

"But the defense we just heard, ...to me, is so weak as to be almost laughable. 'Coup plotter' is not a description for a lawyer. And if Mr. Burnham wants to call John Eastman's efforts here advising a client or representing a client, then I think there's only one word to describe that, which is malpractice."

"There is a good reason John Eastman is being called a co-conspirator and not a constitutional scholar," Katyal continued. "I mean, if Eastman were just writing law review articles or, as Mr. Burnham said, debating some law professors on podcasts, that would be one thing. But instead, what he did is actively pressure the vice president and state legislatures to go through with the harebrained scheme that ...even he thought was illegal."

"You don't go seeking a pardon if you thought what you were doing was kosher," added Katyal.

MSNBC Panel Stunned by Trump Lawyer’s ‘Admission’ on Fox News

An MSNBC panel was shocked by a pair of television interviews Thursday where Donald Trump lawyer John Lauro seemed to confirm an allegation contained within the Jan. 6-related indictment of the former president.

Lauro had told Fox News host Laura Ingraham earlier in the evening that, leading up to Jan. 6, Trump voiced his approval for Pence to send the election back to the states rather than have the Electoral College vote be certified.

“What President Trump said is, ‘Let’s go with option D,'” Lauro said on The Ingraham Angle. “Let’s just halt, let’s just pause the voting and allow the state legislatures to take one last look and make a determination as to whether or not the elections were handled fairly. That’s constitutional law. That’s not an issue of criminal activity.”

Lauro said basically the same thing on Newsmax a bit later.

MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell was surprised at the revelation.

“That is a Trump criminal defense lawyer quoting Donald Trump committing a crime,” he said. “Donald Trump’s criminal defense lawyer tonight added information to Jack Smith’s 42-page description of Donald Trump’s crimes. The conversation that John Lauro just described appears on page 34 of the indictment against his client.”

Rudy Giuliani Goes Personal on Mike Pence After ‘Crackpot Lawyer’ Jab

The indictment alleges there that during a Jan. 4 meeting, “The Defendant and Co-Conspirator 2 then asked the Vice President to either unilaterally reject the legitimate electors from the seven targeted states, or send the question of which slate was legitimate to the targeted states’ legislatures.”

Additionally, the indictment states that on the evening of Jan. 6, that same co-conspirator emailed Pence’s counsel suggesting that the vice president violate the Electoral Count Act. “I implore you to consider one more relatively minor violation [of the ECA] and adjourn for 10 days to allow the legislatures to finish their investigations, as well as to allow a full forensic audit of the massive amount of illegal activity that has occurred here,” wrote the person, who is believed to be lawyer John Eastman.

MSNBC contributor and former Department of Justice lawyer Andrew Weissman considered Lauro’s statements to be “an admission,” as he wrote in a tweet.

“So, I don’t know why a defense lawyer is going to start giving facts about a critical moment,” he said on air, prompting O’Donnell to exclaim: “It’s the whole case!”

Weissman added: “It is such a damning thing when you put it in context because remember what the indictment alleges…[that] the reason this had to be done with the vice president is because prior to that, all the efforts that Donald Trump took with respect to the secretaries of state did not work.”

“I just don’t know why John, who is a good lawyer, didn’t just zip it and not say anything,” he continued.

“They don’t teach TV in law school,” O’Donnell quipped.

Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner, also an MSNBC contributor, was stunned as well, saying bluntly, “It makes no sense.”

Trump pleaded not guilty in a federal court in D.C. on Thursday to a four-count indictment where the former president is accused of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Jen Psaki Exposes The Republicans Taking Credit Where It's Really Not Due
    Lee Moran
Updated Mon, August 14, 2023 at 5:45 AM MDT·1 min read

MSNBC anchor Jen Psaki on Sunday called out Republican politicians who have taken credit for funding flowing into areas they represent thanks to Joe Biden-backed legislation they originally opposed.

Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.), Ashley Hinson (Iowa), Nancy Mace (S.C.) and Sam Graves (Mo.), Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) and Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt have all given themselves a big pat on the back while hyping big-money investments, noted former White House press secretary Psaki.

But before the money flowed, all of the GOP politicians railed against proposals such as the Infrastructure Investment And Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, she added.

“As much as Republicans decry Biden’s legislation, they and their communities are all largely benefitting,” said Psaki.

“That’s a good thing. That’s how good legislation is supposed to work. It helps everyone,” she added. “Even the ones who try to take credit after attempting to tank its success. Maybe they thought they wouldn’t notice.”

MSNBC scored big wins in the cable news ratings to kick off the week as coverage of former President Donald Trump’s fourth indictment and a well-timed interview with Hillary Clinton led to an audience surge.

On Monday, MSNBC beat both CNN and Fox News in total viewers and in the key 25-54 age demographic. The network brought in 1.63 million total average day viewers and 210,000 average viewers in the demo, edging out Fox’s 1.52 million total viewers and 180,000 average demo viewers. CNN landed in third place during the busy news day with 754,000 total average viewers and 146,000 demo viewers.

MSNBC in recent months has capitalized on CNN’s struggles and surged ahead in the ratings during breaking news events, which were once CNN’s bread and butter.

In prime time, MSNBC’s viewership ballooned to 3.1 million average viewers as news of Trump’s indictment in Georgia broke and details were eventually made public. Fox came in second with 2.2 million total average viewers and CNN was third with 1.2 million. MSNBC also led Monday prime time in the demo with 415,000 viewers to Fox’s 254,000 and CNN’s 232,000.

Rachel Maddow, who interviewed Clinton, won the day with an impressive 3.93 million total viewers and 538,000 demo viewers. Fox’s Hannity landed in second place behind Maddow at 9 p.m. with 2.4 million viewers, while CNN brought in 1.25 million. Maddow’s Clinton interview, as well as MSNBC’s 10 p.m. hour, led all of television, beating broadcast networks like CBS and ABC.

While Fox News remains the dominant network on cable news, the network did not pass the 3 million viewer mark on Monday night. MSNBC hosts Nicolle Wallace, Ari Melber, Joy Reid, and Chris Hayes joined prime time in beating both Fox News and CNN in the demo.

MSNBC Airs Exclusive and ‘Incriminating’ Video of Roger Stone Plotting To Overturn the 2020 Election
By Jennifer Bowers BahneyAug 16th, 2023, 7:31 pm

MSNBC’s Ari Melber aired an exclusive recording Wednesday showing Donald Trump adviser Roger Stone planning “to steal the [2020] race from Biden.”

“This new video obtained exclusively by The Beat will add new information to the timeline of how early Trump advisers and allies were exploring these plots, which went on infamously to run all the way through the January 6th certification process,” Melber said.

The host aired the clip, which showed Stone dictating a memo to an aide on Nov. 5, 2020 – two days after the election, but before Joe Biden was declared the winner.

“Although state officials in all 50 states must ultimately certify the results of the voting in their state… the final decision as to who the state legislatures authorize be sent to the Electoral College is a decision made solely by the legislature,” Stone said. “Any legislative body may decide on the basis of overwhelming evidence of fraud, to send electors to the Electoral College who accurately reflect the president’s legitimate victory in their state, which was illegally denied him through fraud.”

Stone added that Trump’s team lobby Republican legislatures to overturn the results in their states.

Melber then introduced Danish documentary filmmaker Christopher Gulbrandsen, who captured the footage.

“Well, I think we already realized when we were recording that this was something spectacular,” Gulbrandsen said, continuing:

I picked up Roger Stone at his home on November 5th, two days after the election, and I expected him to be somewhat downtrodden over the results, and Biden had consolidated his lead by then. But as we drove to his workplace, he was completely buoyed with energy, he was on the phone restarting “Stop the Steal,” mobilizing people for the effort that we saw eventually culminating on January 6th.

So, I mean, you talk about journalism as the first draft of history, but this film and this opportunity to record this felt like, I mean, it’s history as it unfolds. So, in that sense, we had a strong feeling of witnessing something very wrong but also with a historic perspective.

Melber then asked former federal prosecutor John Flannery if he thought the footage was incriminating.

“Oh, absolutely,” Flannery replied, “and what Christian just said, which nails it down, is they knew that he’d lost the election before it was announced, and that’s why they began these initiatives then. And in the weeks and months beforehand, they had to know what was going on.”

Flannery continued, “But judging by the conduct after that, by the people who are going out doing what is prescribed in that dictated memo, we know that they’re already pulling together. And then to have the president’s son basically breaking out the elements that conform with what Stone is sending. So I think it’s powerful. I think it would be powerful for any of the cases that are pending, certainly Smith’s, certainly Georgia.”

The stars aligned for MSNBC on Monday when Rachel Maddow’s previously scheduled interview with Hillary Clinton fell on the same evening as Donald Trump’s fourth criminal indictment, drawing a whopping 3.93 million total viewers at 9 p.m. ET.

Trump was indicted on criminal charges for the fourth time on Monday by the Georgia grand jury over the state’s 2020 election probe. The former president is being charged under Georgia’s racketeering statute, used to prosecute corrupt organizations. In the indictment, Trump and other defendants — Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, Sidney Powell, and more — are required to voluntarily turn themselves in by Friday.

MSNBC’s special coverage of the indictment in Georgia swept overall primetime figures as the No. 1 most-watched cable news channel with 3.09 million total viewers. Fox News came in second place with 2.20 million total viewers, while CNN lagged behind with 1.17 million viewers, according to Nielsen-live-plus-same-day figures.

The trend continued in the demo for primetime, with MSNBC leading the pack with 415,000 viewers in the key cable demographic among adults 25-54. Fox News came in second with 254,000 viewers, and CNN in third with 232,000 viewers in the demo.

MSNBC’s 9 p.m. hour, which featured an exclusive interview with Clinton, was No. 1 across all of television, including broadcast. The interview brought in 3.93 million total viewers. Fox News drew 2.40 million total viewers at 9 p.m., hosted by Sean Hannity, while CNN had 1.25 million total viewers.

During the interview, Maddow asked if Clinton gained any satisfaction from Trump’s criminal indictment in Georgia, considering she “warned that the country, essentially, that he was going to try to end democracy.”

“Well, it’s hard to believe. I don’t feel any satisfaction,” Clinton replied. “Just great profound sadness.”

“This is a terrible moment for our country,” continued Clinton.

In the 25-54 demo for the 9 p.m. hour, Rachel Maddow’s interview secured 538,000 viewers. Fox News followed with 285,000 viewers, and CNN came in third with 255,000 viewers in the demo.

MSNBC’s special coverage of the indictment in the 10 p.m. hour was also No. 1 across all of television, including broadcast, with 3.22 million total viewers. Fox News’ “Hannity,” with an extra hour on Monday, secured 2.02 million total viewers at 10 p.m. while CNN came in third with 1.3 million total viewers.

As for the demo, MSNBC nabbed 436,000 viewers in the 25-54 age range for the 10 p.m. hour, with Fox News securing 252,000 viewers, and CNN with 267,000 viewers.

During the 11 p.m. hour, MSNBC aired Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ press conference about the Georgia indictment, which scored 3.45 million total viewers.

Bush Attorney General Alberto Gonzales Tells Jen Psaki That Trump ‘Should Serve Time’ if Convicted in Jan. 6 Trial (Video)

Former Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki appeared on Friday’s “Morning Joe,” where host Joe Scarborough asked her about former Bush attorney general Alberto Gonzales’ belief that former president Donald Trump should go to jail if he is convicted of the current Jan. 6 charges against him.

“If in fact, he’s convicted of the crimes charged by Jack Smith and the Department of Justice, I think he should serve time, quite frankly,” Gonzales told Psaki in an interview airing Sunday on MSNBC’s “Inside With Jen Psaki.”

The conversation also remarked on how there is a long road ahead before we may see Trump serving time behind bars.

“If Donald Trump is convicted and sentenced to serve time, should he go to prison despite being a former president?” Psaki asked Gonzales in a preview clip of the interview, aired Friday. “I know we’re getting ahead of where we are at this moment, but what is your view on that in general?”

“You’re right, we’re getting way ahead of ourselves. I haven’t really thought about it,” Gonzales began, before conceding, “If, in fact, he’s convicted of the crimes charged by Jack Smith and the Department of Justice, I think he should serve time, quite frankly.”

The former attorney general then noted that the men and women who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 are similarly being held to account and serving out sentences of their own.

“There are people that, on Jan. 6 went to the Capitol, maybe not that clear direction of President Trump, but certainly, he did nothing to stop what happened that day,” he said. “They’re serving time. And so if, in fact, Jack Smith is successful in prosecuting Donald Trump for the crimes that he’s charged, I think it would be fair that he go to prison. But we’re a long way from there.”

Before showing the “Inside” clip on “Morning Joe,” Psaki pointed out that Republicans who may normally disagree with Democratic policy are stepping up to acknowledge that Trump has broken many rules.

“This is kind of this interesting discussion and debate right now, right, because there have been a number of Republicans who may disagree with Joe Biden and Democrats on virtually every policy issue, but they’ve started to be a little bit more outspoken about Donald Trump’s violation of norms and all of his legal woes and all the things he’s done that he shouldn’t have done,” Psaki told Scarborough.

She also described Gonzales as “a defendant of equal justice under law.”

Psaki emphasized after airing the clip that the topic of whether or not Trump should serve time if convicted is a discussion ripe for debate.

This if fun to watch. Trump is finally in a squeeze play caught between a federal and state judge. Due to his FORMS of mental illness his reptilian instinct is to lash out as he feels reality closing in on him. But if he does U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has many tools to muzzle him up to and including putting him in jail While down in Georgia Trump's lies can and will be used against him and could result in more indictments like witness tampering. So Trump's lawyers are telling him to keep his mouth shut. And it will be interesting to see which side wins out. Trump's lawyers or his mental illness.

‘He’s Scared’: Jen Psaki Spots ‘Unusual’ Sign That Trump Is Finally Afraid

MSNBC’s Jen Psaki said Donald Trump is showing an “unusual” sign of fear.

The former president has been indicted on state charges in New York, in two federal cases, and most recently in Georgia ― or 91 felony counts in total, Psaki pointed out.

“Right now, Trump seems worried in a way that’s sorta unusual for him, at least publicly,” Psaki said.

She pointed out that Trump initially scheduled a big news conference for Monday in which he claimed he would present a “CONCLUSIVE” report that would lead to “a complete EXONERATION.”

Except then he canceled it, saying it was on the advice of his attorneys.

“Just think about that for a moment,” she said, noting that Trump listening to his lawyers would be “a new thing” for him given his history of ignoring legal advice.

“It can only really mean one thing: He’s scared,” she said. “And frankly, he should be.”

Trump, she said, is now trying to delay, distract and attack the prosecutors.

But it’s not the prosecutors who hold his fate.

“It’s up to the ordinary citizens who make up the juries in his cases,” she said. “Citizens returned these indictments as part of the grand juries. Citizens will decide on his guilt.”

Maddow mocks Trump for failing to mobilize his supporters: 'Now he's not calling for protests'

    MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow.

Rachel Maddow on Monday mocked Donald Trump over the former president's calls for protests over his indictments that have fallen flat.

The MSNBC host suggested that Trump’s calls for protest were intended to have the effect of making the public uneasy about prosecuting a former president now facing four indictments.

“The guy himself, the defendant himself, has said repeatedly what he wants his followers to do about it, and he hasn't just been calling on them to give him money to pay his lawyer fees, right?" said Maddow. "He's been calling on them to bodily show up. He has been calling them to get out in the streets for him. Again, like they did for him on Jan. 6, when he told them to march down Pennsylvania Avenue and physically go to the building where Congress was doing its work."

“They turned out in the streets for him then, he has said he wants that again," she continued. "He’s said it explicitly. He said publicly that if he were to be indicted, ‘I hope we are going to have in this country, the biggest protests we have ever had.’”

POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?

Maddow noted that Trump said earlier this year in an interview about his impending indictment in Manhattan: ‘I think if it happened, I think you'd have problems in this country, the likes of which perhaps we've never seen before. I don't think the people of the United States would stand for it. I think that has big problems, big problems. I just don't think they stand for it.’

“But it turns out, the dog did not bark,” Maddow said, noting that the response to Trump’s indictments mirrored a Sherlock Holmes episode.

“Turns out life goes on,” Maddow explained. “The rule of law applied to the high-ranking former officials and powerful political figures and the rule of law goes on and politics goes on.”

“Turns out the former leader does not snap his fingers and command a nationwide crippling uprising in his or her name," she said of the 2020 loser. "I mean, even in our country ... where he overtly, publicly tried to make it happen. It failed. He failed. He wanted that, he promised it, he was counting on it, and therefore a lot of a country was counting on that being a consequence of this part of the process.”

Maddow said that although the rejection of Trump’s calls for mass protests reflects well on the state of American democracy, “the bad news is that instead, we're getting something else.”

“Not mass violence. Again, like we saw on Jan. 6, not even mass protest. But instead, what we are getting is individual acts of violence and threats of violence by radicalized people and groups that support them,” Maddow said.

Trump's already been booked and released on $200,000 bond. He only had to put up $20,000 of his own and bail bondsman put up the rest.
