Well you need to check your individual state because if he is under 18 there is normally a gap age that cannot get statutory charges. The instance I remember reading about said if they were within 2 years of each other he couldn't be charged, but it varies from state to state.

As to getting hell about "wishing her a miscarriage" I know I would. It would most likely be the best possible thing to happen for everyone all the way around.

 

I would never wish someone to have a miscarriage. Thats just wrong. I said it was likely that it would happen, friend. By my math, 4 years is a bigger gap than 2 years, so Steve is probably screwed.

If you were any kind of mate to this guy, why the hell didnt you pull him up on it when they first started seeing each other?

If when I was that age any of my friends started seeing a girl under 16 (I live in the UK where its 16 not 18) Id have pulled him up on it. And If he hadnt of listened, I wouldnt of wanted to stay mates with him. And probably would have shopped him to the police myself.

As for what going to happen to him, he must of known there was going to be consequences when he started sleeping with her!? So I wouldnt worry for him. If you must stay friends with him, just be as supportive as you can and do what you can for him. If you must.

Im just having trouble getting my head round why a 17 year old would even look twice at a 13 year old! Thats nothing short of fucked up!

Also, as I have pointed out earlier, the fact that the 'friend' is so very nearly an 'adult' - let's face it, he could be 18 tomorrow - then there is more chance he will be attracted to 13 year old children in the future, when officially an adult. He needs castrating just incase he forces his attentions onto another child.

 

Unfortunately it does happen - my young teen (just a bit older than 13 but still not legal) recently had trouble with a 18 year old guy chasing her, we sorted it out and luckily she wasnt interested but when I asked why guys of that age go for young girls like this the reply was - they will do anything to keep you happy they are only too glad to have a boyfriend and it looks big to their mates that they are older! when I asked wouldnt their own mates thake the piss that they were chasing kiddies, the reply was that they are never introduced to the mates and in fact rarely become girlfriends just their for what they are naive enough to give up! LUCKILY my daughter heard all this and is deffinately set on guys her own age!

I'm glad someone pointed that out! And I'm still curious about the 'future' with the friend. I don't know about anybody else, I've never planned my future with friends unless there was some sort of potential for a longer term or more involved relationship.

I understand what your saying but she is already pregnant and she needs to act as an adult now and accept the consequences of her actions (as does he).

OK I was seriously trying to ignore the miscarriage comments but I can no longer hold this back. Damn you for bringing my emotions out into an open forum ... Those who are making comments about miscarriage and abortion have clearly never had the luxury of burying a piece of themselves. To bury a child, your own child is one of the most heart wrenching experiences a woman (especially a 13 year old child) could ever have. I would NEVER wish such horror on another woman regardless if it a miscarriage, still birth, crib death, or any other type death! Shame on you for even thinking such thoughts! Let the poor girl and her parents along with the boy and his parents deal with it as they see fit. Everyone needs to quit wishing an infants death ... TRUST ME IT IS NOT THE ANSWER! If her pregnancy were to terminate by natural or human delivery the poor girl will NEVER have a chance for a 'normal and healthy' relationship with any future children and she will be lost forever! Besides how do you think the father would feel aside from relief a man is just as devistated (almost) as she is. I know this ... fuckin assholes!!!! He does not die that horrifying life lasting death but he is angry and upset and carries that fear with her.

Dude ... just be a friend don't plan your life with him and quit blaming the girl. It takes two to get pregnant!

oh, and this kid has been busted. if she is pregnant social services should intervine. the mother's life could be endangered.

 

follow up: this thread is headed for a pro/anti abortion debate.

i am pro choice. it is not the duty of society to tell a woman whether or not she should or should not have a child. it is usually worse off for a child born to a mother who did not want be have a kid or was not ready. there will be enormous strain. financially, physically, emotionally and socially on such a relationship. people who stand on the outside looking in and pass judgment on the couple or woman are only thinking of themselves. you cannot force your will on others when you do not know that person's overall situation.

humans are the only animals who have offspring before they are ready. animals only breed when the environmental and physical factors are beneficial for the survival of the off spring. we humans should learn from this.
