Nicolle Wallace is actuality on maternity leave after having a baby just a couple weeks ago. But she came back for just today to interview Liz Cheney. Which had to be very important to her. But I had forgotten Wallace and Cheney knew each other well from when Wallace was working in the Bush White House with Liz's farther Dick Cheney as VP. And that is resulting in just a phenomenal interview. And Cheney is being just brilliant, and one hell of a lawyer.

I really can't get over just how amazing this interview is. Wallace is also being just brilliant with her questions and helps Cheney make her case. Trump is the biggest threat to our democracy our nation has ever faced and he is being aided and abetted not just by the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans working to make Trump a fascist dictator but just as much by treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republican cowardice by those who condemn him in private but are too gutless to say anything in public.

When you happen to see some treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republican saying no one cares what Liz Cheney says feel free to just laugh in their non-fucking face.

Rachel Maddow’s Interview With Liz Cheney Leads Cable News With 3.2 Million Viewers
    Mark Joyella
    Senior Contributor

It was one of the most unusual interviews in Rachel Maddow’s long tenure at MSNBC: former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, who joined Maddow on set Monday night. As Maddow told viewers, “I disagree with Liz Cheney about everything. My whole adult life on everything in politics, I would not just say that Liz Cheney and I were on different proverbial teams, I would say we are from different proverbial planets. And they are planets that are mostly at war with each other.”

The Cheney interview drew a big audience: 3.15 million viewers, which made The Rachel Maddow Show the most-watched show in all of cable news Monday night, well ahead of Fox News Channel’s Hannity, which had a total audience of 1.936 million viewers, and CNN’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins, which drew a total audience of just 375,000 viewers.

Maddow also won among viewers 25-54, the key demographic most valued by advertisers, drawing a total audience of 249,000 viewers, ahead of FNC’s Hannity (221,000 viewers) and CNN’s The Source (70,000 viewers). The Rachel Maddow Show pushed MSNBC to an overall win in prime time, with 2.293 million viewers, ahead of Fox News (1.996 million viewers) and CNN (402,000 viewers). Fox News won in prime in the key demo, with a total audience of 230,000 viewers to MSNBC’s 179,000 viewers and CNN’s 79,000 viewers.

Cheney, who has been fiercely critical of former President Donald Trump, made the trip to MSNBC to talk about her new memoir and her concerns about what might happen should Donald Trump win in 2024.

As Maddow put it, “I say this tonight, not for the gee whiz factor of me having Liz Cheney here tonight, me having somebody here tonight who you would never expect. I say this not for just the man-bites-dog weirdness of this. I say it because I think, in civic terms, in sort of American citizenship terms, I think it's really important how much we disagree. It's important how far apart we are in every policy issue imaginable. It is important that Liz Cheney is infinity and I am negative infinity on the ideological number line. It's important because that tells you how serious and big something has to be to put us, to put me and Liz Cheney, together on the same side of something in American life.”

'Something to hide': Liz Cheney calls Jim Jordan one of the 'masterminds' of 2020 scheme

In the final portion of Nicolle Wallace's interview with Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), the MSNBC host asked about Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and his liability for his involvement in Jan. 6.

Jordan has announced he'll be doing an investigation into "collusion" between Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and special counsel Jack Smith. Turning over evidence to prosecutors isn't collusion, according to Cheney.

"I think that there's no question he has — that Jim Jordan has something to hide, probably a lot to hide," said Cheney. "If you go back and you look at the phone records as well as what he's said himself about his discussions and his conversations with Donald Trump on the 6. There's a very significant role he played in the lead-up to that. He was clearly one of the masterminds in terms of helping to facilitate Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the election."

She noted that Jordan also refused to comply with the House Select Committee investigating 2020 and Jan. 6 when they subpoenaed his information. Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) is another one, though his phone was subpoenaed and seized by the Justice Department. Some of Jordan's texts have become public through Trump's chief of staff, Mark Meadows.

"So, you have to imagine that he's doing everything he can to help Donald Trump, to do Donald Trump's bidding," Cheney continued. "And I think that he has so many questions of his own to answer that people just need to go back and look at the record. Look at how confused he's been when people have pushed him on what did you say to Donald Trump. When did you talk to him on the 6th? What was your role in all of this? Did you make a request for pardons? But he's very clearly at the heart of what was an attempt to seize power and overturn an election."

When asked if Jordan has "criminal exposure," Cheney said, "he has a lot of questions to answer."

She recalled an interview with Steve Bannon where Jordan struggled to answer questions to even a friendly ally.

Raw Story has full coverage of Cheney's book, "Oath and Honor," here.

Maddow sounds the alarm that voters are loving Donald Trump's new Hitleresque campaign

    Sarah K. Burris

The host of “The Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC (screengrab)

While many people in the country heard about synagogue threats in their state over the weekend it wasn't until Sunday and Monday that it became clear there was a coordinated act of terrorism unfolding across the United States.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow sounded the alarm on Monday that it wasn't merely the fea threats in Mississippi and a handful in Washington, D.C., but hundreds of threats from California to Maine and Florida to Washington state. USA Today explained that there were more threats in a single day than the U.S. had in an entire year in 2022. They charted 200. CNN later calculated over 400 threats.

All of this is unfolding as Donald Trump talked about his foes being "vermin" and "poisoning the blood" of the country. Even after being told it was Hitleresque, Trump continued to say them. Now, Republicans are downplaying the comments. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said that language isn't important, what is important is policy and results. He wasn't asked whether language like "Heil Hitler" would be too much "language" if the policy was what he wanted.

Maddow said that the reason that Trump is using the rhetoric, threatening to exterminate certain people, is to turn Americans against each other. It's designed to make Americans think they need a "strong man" to save the country, not laws, the judicial system, Congress, or anything else. Only Trump is needed and a temporary dictatorship, as he explained.

"It makes people want to put a strong man in charge," Maddow explained. "To break all the rules and destroy those very scary enemies, right? Iron fist. There's been all this discussion, I know, in the past few days, about the former president, the Republican presidential frontrunner playing a fascist dictator's greatest hits tape. I will root out the vermin amongst us. Immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country. There's been a lot of discussion about that in recent days and there should be."

What isn't happening that needs to, however, is that people should make it unacceptable for him to continue.

"Why is it that even after everybody pointed out those were Hitleresque and Mussoliniesque statements, he kept doing them?" Maddow asked. "These are things he has tried out in the last few weeks and is now repeating them and putting them in writing and making them part of his regular speeches? Why? Because they are getting a good response. A good response, a response that he likes. Not just the outrage of his critics which he likes, but the pleasure and support of the people who like him the most."

She cited a poll from the "Des Moines Register" over the weekend, that asked Iowa Republicans about Trump's recent statements along these lines, the poll asked whether these comments from Trump would make you more or less likely to support him. They loved it.

"On his claim that immigrants are poisoning the blood of America, which is straight out of "Mein Kampf," on the vermin in the United States that needs to be rooted out, which comes straight out of the playbook of Mussolini and Hitler, even on his pledge to build giant camps to hold millions of people in this country, on those statements, Iowa Republican voters say as of this weekend that those statements from Trump make them more likely to vote for him, not less."

The reason that they sound familiar is that they work and people reuse them, Maddow said.

Rachel Maddow wanted to step back form her nightly show because she wanted to do other things like pod casts and writing books. But bless her heart she was loyal enough to MSNBC and her millions of viewers not to quit entirely and still do one Monday show per week.

And that actually turned into more of a blessing because she is coming up with more important and amazing things. Like her new book PREQUEL: An American Fight Against Fascism

Her book takes the current move of treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans trying to create a fascist dictatorship with Trump and juxtaposes that against fascist movements of the past in America. And it is amazing. I had no idea how many fascist movements the US has had and how powerful and popular some of them were. I was astounded to learn that before and leading up to World War II there was a fairly large and very vocal segment of Americans screaming Hitler is right and we need to join him.

Maddeow explains how and why the US survived that march to fascist dictatorship but warns that is no grantee we will survive the march to fascism this time. We have to recognize that very really threat and fight for our Constitution and democracy.

And we see american hater is a proud and loud outlet for the despicable campaign to link Trump to Hitler, facism, and anything else they consider evil.

Can't have an adult conversation, don't have confidence in their man(woman) and basically think winning is all that matters, no matter what it takes.

My first reaction was oh yeah that sounds like a happy person.

But thee is also another important thing to understand. Why throughout all of history have we had liberals and conservatives even before they were named that?

It turns out scientists have discovered that to varying degrees our human brains are actually hard wired to be one or the other. Scientists can actually track that with brain scans. And conservatives tend to be more fear based of the world around them and see constant threats.

Which is why decades ago conservative/Republicans developed the strategy of using the right wing false propaganda noise machine to pump out a constant stream of fear, hate, and anger They knew "conservatives" would respond to that and allow them to create an alternative reality where they are under constant attack and eternally wounded little snowflake victims.

And they would welcome a march to fascist dictatorship like we are seeing now.

      So lets see if we can understand american haters latest post;
Conservatives are more afraid of the world around them and see constant threats.
So they put out a constant stream of propaganda aimed at sending out nothing but fear, hate, and anger.
And they are all facist dictators.

That about cover it, american hater?
You see the fallacy in your post?

Trump allies 'not delusional' – they're 'twisting reality' on purpose: Morning Joe

    Travis Gettys
    December 19, 2023 7:00AM ET

    MSNBC

Rudy Giuliani continues to push election fraud lies that cost him $148 million in a defamation lawsuit and a newly filed complaint by the two election workers he defamed, and MSNBC's Joe Scarborough said he was purposefully twisting reality.

The former New York City mayor doubled down on his baseless claims against Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss hours after the pair sued him again, and the "Morning Joe" host said his behavior confirmed the premise of a recent New York Times column from his friend David French.

"It's as if he read David French's column yesterday in the New York Times talking about 'MAGA Man' and what it takes to be a 'MAGA Man,'" said Scarborough. "He mentioned Rudy Giuliani as the prime example but listed Mark Meadows, Kari Lake, listed a number of other people who may have all done different things in the past, may have all had different backgrounds, different political ideologies, but the key was once they became infected by [Donald] Trump, there were two things you had to do. Again, David French wrote this before Rudy went on [Newsmax] and lied again last night. He said, No. 1, you have to lie. The key is, if you're going to follow Donald Trump, if you're going to be a part of Donald Trump's team, you've got to be a liar. You've got to bend reality to whatever Donald Trump says it's going to be."

"Then the second thing is, and he did it there, which is so funny," he added. "He just walks right into it. He does it there, just like Donald Trump, just like the rest of them, you have to be loud and angry and defiant. It's not enough to just lie."

Co-host Mika Brzezinski suggested that Giuliani was "delusionally defiant," but Scarborough disagreed.

"Not delusional, not delusional, because that suggests sort of a sense of confusion," Scarborough said. "As David French said yesterday in the New York Times in his op-ed, he knows exactly what he's doing. Rudy Giuliani knows exactly what he is doing, Donald Trump knows exactly what he is doing, Mark Meadows knows exactly what he is doing, Kari Lake knows exactly what she's doing. They all know exactly what they're doing. They had past lives, a lot of them supported Barack Obama, a lot of them like to paint themselves as [having] supported abortion rights. What they do, and what Rudy Giuliani just did there was, first, as David French said, you've got to lie. You have to twist reality. In this case, it was the biggest lie of all."

Scarborough tossed House speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) into that same pile.

"Oh, my gosh, I forgot the guy in Congress," Scarborough said. "All you need to do is look at the Bible, and that's what I do. Jesus' man in Congress, the speaker of the House. what did he have to do to get to power? Liz Cheney told us, but Liz didn't have to tell us because we already knew. He embraced this guy that uses Jesus as a political shield and claims that he may be the Aaron or the Moses. What does he do? He embraces the big lie. When he's called on it, remember the first press conference, the anger, the rage, people shouting down the press for even bringing up the fact that this speaker, this guy who claims Jesus as this, like, political badge of honor, the biggest liar of all, embracing the biggest lie of all in politics."

This was just a great segment on Chris Hayes tonight. For one thing it revisits some of the 2020 Trump campaign ads showing death and destruction if Joe Biden gets elected president. But all the scenes shown in the ad actully happened when Trump was president. Then it covers just how much the economy and just about everything else is provably better under President Biden. But the part I thought was just too cute by half is Trump on the current campaign trail asking are you better off now than you were five years ago. And Hayes documents that yes Americans are better off now then they were even five years ago. But why is Trump saying five years instead of four? And then Hayes shows what America really looked like under Trump four years ago.

NBC Reporter Lays Out Why Trump is in Trouble Over Cash He Made From China and Saudi Arabia While President
    Alex GriffingJan 4th, 2024, 12:33 pm

NBC News Capitol Hill Correspondent Ryan Nobles joined MSNBC’s Chris Jansing on Thursday to discuss the new report from House Democrats detailing how former President Donald Trump profited from foreign governments while president, which they allege was unconstitutional.

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released a 155-page report on Thursday showing Trump and his businesses received at least $7.8 million from 20 foreign governments including China, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar while he was president.

“Now, what we know is that the Constitution says a president cannot accept money payments, gifts of any kind from a foreign government or monarch without getting the express consent of Congress. Is there any record that Donald Trump, the business entities associated with his family business, went to Congress and asked for some sort of pass?” Jansing asked Nobles.

“There’s no record of that at all. And in fact, it never happened,” Nobles replied, adding:

And that’s part of the reason that House Democrats believe that this is a violation of the Emoluments Clause. And Jamie Raskin, who’s the ranking member of the Democratic Oversight Committee, specifically talked about an instance where then-President Lincoln was given a gift by a foreign government. These were tangible gifts. I believe one of them was an elephant tusk. And another thing. And instead of just keeping these gifts for himself, which he wanted to, he actually went to Congress to ask for permission if it would be okay for him to keep it. And Congress actually told him no. And the State Department actually took possession of these gifts.

So there was nothing like that as it relates to Donald Trump. Now, the argument that Republicans would make about Donald Trump in his defense is that he didn’t accept a government salary during his entire time as president, that he ended up donating that salary toward charitable causes in different aspects of the government.

According to Raskin, that’s not enough to excuse the amount of money that his companies were taking from these foreign business entities. The other argument that Republicans have made is that the Trump businesses were actually providing tangible benefit to some of these business, these different foreign governments and their and their associates. For instance, they would buy a hotel room at the going rate. They would get a hotel room for that. It’s not as if they were just passing money off with no exchange of goods and services. But the Emoluments Clause doesn’t necessarily allow for an exemption in that regard. If it’s something that you’re benefiting from financially, that’s something that you have to report to Congress and ask for permission to do so. So this is something that, you know, was the investigation started while Trump was in office.

It’s now come to this point where this report has been released. But again, Democrats are in the minority here, Chris, so there isn’t much more they can do than get this out into the public sphere unless Republicans join in and, you know, either refer this to the Department of Justice or something along those lines. This is likely the most that they can do is get this out to the public square for Americans to digest it. Of course, it comes right as the 2024 election is starting to heat up.

Illegal migrant charged in slaying of cheerleader found in Texas tub
    • Lizbeth Medina, 16, was found dead in a tub by her mother on Dec. 5
    • ‘Undocumented male’ arrested post-release of person of interest images
    • Police have not yet released a cause of death or motive in this case
    Updated: DEC 11, 2023 / 07:35 PM CST
(NewsNation) — A suspect has been arrested in the killing of a 16-year-old high school cheerleader who was found dead in a Texas bathtub, police announced Sunday.

The Edna Police Department identified the suspect as Rafael Govea Romero. He was arrested in Schulenberg on Saturday and charged with capital murder in the death of Lizbeth Medina, according to a statement from Edna Chief of Police Rick Boone.

Police did not release Romero’s age but identified him as an “undocumented male.”

“Although Romero is apprehended, we recognize (Lizbeth)’s family and friends are grieving and will still need support from the community,” the statement read. “The citizens of Edna can now sleep in peace!”

Officials are expected to release more details Monday.

Medina, a student at Edna High School, was found dead by her mother in their apartment on Dec. 5, KTRK reports.

Jacqueline Medina, Lizbeth’s mother, told KTRK she went searching for her daughter after she failed to show up to a Christmas parade where her cheerleading squad was set to perform. Upon returning home, she found her daughter unresponsive in a tub. Lizbeth Medina was pronounced dead at the scene after first responders tried to save her.

Authorities have not yet said what led them to charge Romero, release a cause of death, or said if Romero and Medina knew each other. More details on the motive are expected in Monday’s police update.

Jacqueline Medina said a few weeks before the incident their home was broken into, KTRK reports. Medina wondered if it was the motive again, but her daughter happened to be home.

Abbott: Operation Lone Star led to nearly 500,000 immigrant apprehensions
Medina had moved to Texas from Nebraska around a year ago, according to a GoFundMe set up by her aunt, Ana Medina. She dreamed of becoming a nurse, the aunt told NBC News.

“She was always there for everybody—charming, young, and full of energy,” Ana Medina said. “That was all just cut short.”

Romero’s arrest comes a day after the Edna Police Department announced it had identified a person of interest and an associated vehicle in the case, KRTK reports. Police also released low-resolution images of a man who resembles the 23-year-old suspect.

Romero was transferred to the Jackson County jail; bond was set at $2 million and ICE placed a detainer.

Illegal migrants are scum! They are violent, ignorant, lazy, dirty, disease ridden scum.
They should be shot on site.

Despicables will stop at nothing to attack all things Trump and anyone who dares not oppose him.
Propaganda, innuendo, lies, slander, all more than acceptable.

Once MAGA Central, Trump's Former DC Hotel Is Now a Hot Spot for Dems (businessinsider.com)
Once a MAGA bastion, Trump's former DC hotel is now a Democratic hot spot

    • The former Trump hotel in DC, now the Waldorf Astoria, has become a popular meeting spot for top Democrats.
    • The hotel was once a regular haunt for some of Trump's most trusted friends and advisors.
    • Chef José Andrés, who sparred with Trump during his first campaign, has opened a restaurant at the property.
After Donald Trump was elected to the presidency in 2016, the Trump International Hotel at the Old Post Office Building in Washington became the place to be for the GOP elite who backed the New York businessman and his "Make America Great Again" movement.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was a frequent presence, and onetime Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin even lived in the hotel for several months in 2017 before moving into a permanent residence.

But after the former president left the White House in 2021 he sold the leasing rights to the hotel, which was rebranded and is now the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC. With Trump's name no longer attached to the property, Republicans abandoned the hotel.

And instead of top GOP figures and Republican sightseers drinking at the bar or taking in the Trump-styled menu, the hotel has become a magnet for top Democratic leaders, according to Politico.

"This is like a 'fuck you' to Trump," a Democratic donor expressed to Politico Playbook last Thursday.

The chef José Andrés, who in 2015 sought to open a restaurant in the hotel but went on to spar with Trump over his now-infamous remarks about Mexican immigrants, pulled out of the project and a legal fight ensued. (The parties settled in 2017.)

But under its new ownership and name, Andrés has finally opened his own restaurant at the hotel, The Bazaar, which has attracted some of the most bold-typed Democratic names in the nation's capital.

Recent dining guests have included former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, and Biden campaign manager Julie Chávez Rodríguez, according to Politico.

The hotel, which boasts large meeting rooms — a major draw for Democratic leaders — is just blocks from the White House. And while the hotel still has some guests who've visited to take in the space where Republicans once ruled, it's no longer a GOP draw.

"I think a lot of people's favorite part about the hotel is that it's not owned by Donald Trump," Biden campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz told the outlet.

PolitiFact | Trump lawyer: Foreign dignitaries staying in a Trump hotel doesn't violate Constitution

".............Despite this position, Dillon said Trump’s company would donate to the U.S. Treasury any profits earned from foreign governments through his business, to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. And his company will also refrain from engaging in any new deals with foreign governments while Trump is president.

    More on murder:

    Takeaways
    • The murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Donald Trump has exceeded the murder rate in the 25 states that voted for Joe Biden in every year from 2000 to 2020.
    • Over this 21-year span, this Red State murder gap has steadily widened from a low of 9% more per capita red state murders in 2003 and 2004 to 44% more per capita red state murders in 2019, before settling back to 43% in 2020.
    • Altogether, the per capita Red State murder rate was 23% higher than the Blue State murder rate when all 21 years were combined.
    • If Blue State murder rates were as high as Red State murder rates, Biden-voting states would have suffered over 45,000 more murders between 2000 and 2020.
    • Even when murders in the largest cities in red states are removed, overall murder rates in Trump-voting states were 12% higher than Biden-voting states across this 21-year period and were higher in 18 of the 21 years observed.
