'They can only kill so many of us': New J6 video shows rioters face to face with Congress

A newly released video from the January 6 insurrection shows rioters inside the US Capitol just feet away from members of Congress huddled in the House of Representatives chamber, while Capitol police officers stood by with their guns drawn.

The video, which NBC News obtained via records request, is shot from the perspective of one of the rioters, Damon Beckley, and was shown as evidence during his trial. Beckley's video shows insurrectionists face-to-face with two members of Congress through shattered glass outside of the House chamber. Then-Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-Oklahoma) — who is now a member of the US Senate — is seen next to Rep Troy Nehls (R-Texas), who was wearing a surgical mask festooned with the Texas flag. Nehls is heard exchanging words with some of the rioters in the video.

"I’ve been in law enforcement in Texas for 30 years, and I’ve never had people act this way," said Nehls, who was sheriff of Fort Bend County, Texas before his election to Congress. "I'm ashamed!"

The rioters can be heard swearing and yelling at Nehls and Mullin, one of whom shouted "there’s going to be a bigger Civil War and a lot of bloodshed" if election results weren't overturned. Another rioter is heard screaming, "they can only kill so many of us!"

I drove fourteen hours to get here and stood in the cold for three and a half hours to find out that Mike Pence is a f---ing traitor, man. And I voted for that f---ing dude," Beckley is heard saying. "He could’ve done the right thing and certified those legislators, electors, and we wouldn’t be standing here with a nine-millimeter pointed at me right now!"

In an interview with NBC News, Nehls explained his thought processing when facing off with the insurrectionists.

"I am going to stay right here with my brothers and sisters in blue," Nehls said. "I had my Texas mask on, and he looked at me through that broken glass and he said 'you're from Texas, you should be with us,' and at that point, I said 'no, sir, I cannot support what you're doing, this is criminal.'"

While Nehls may have believed what insurrectionists were doing was criminal, both he and Mullin are on the record supporting their cause. A New York Times tally of the 147 Republican representatives and senators who voted against certifying the 2020 Electoral College results shows Mullin and Nehls among others who voted to overturn the election.

In what appears to be another potential split between Trump surrogates and House Republican leadership, speaker Mike Johnson is getting some pressure to fulfil a promise related to footage of Jan. 6, on the third anniversary of the insurrection.

Johnson previously vowed to trickle-release all Jan. 6 footage, but the progress after the initial release has been stalled, according to Trump co-defendant and former Trump administration official Jeff Clark.

"On this, the third anniversary, of January 6, it would mean a great deal to the American people if [Johnson] made good on his promise and released all of the footage from the Capitol that day," Clark wrote. "We need radical transparency. It's been long enough."

That sentiment was put more forcefully by Laura Loomer, a former Republican candidate who has investigated the former president's various perceived enemies.

Loomer noted that it has been it's "been 3 years since J6 2021."

"[Johnson], we still don't have the J6 tapes. You lied to the American people," Loomer said.

She added: "Don't make promises you have no intention of keeping. Loomer quoted a social media post in which Johnson said he was keeping his promise to the American people and "making all the January 6th tapes available to ALL Americans."

An "America First" musician agreed.

"Speaker Mike Johnson lied to us," the musician wrote Saturday. "He said he was going to release the January 6 footage. I think they are all united in not releasing the January 6 footage."

Another account wrote, "The truth is coming out that Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats/RINOs setup innocent people at the Capitol that day to install Dementia Hitler as President This seems like it would be a great day for Mike Johnson to release some more January 6th Footage."

New footage of the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol was made public on Saturday, the three-year anniversary of the attack by Trump supporters that left multiple people dead and hundreds more wounded.

The eight-minute video, which was filmed by Jan. 6 rioter Damon Beckley, was obtained and first reported by NBC News correspondent Ryan Reilly. It shows the moment rioters had made it to the doors of the House chamber where members of Congress were sheltering. Police officers point their guns at the rioters as two Republican members of Congress try to reason with them.


“They’re socialist pigs!” one particularly animated rioter shouts.

“You ought to be ashamed of yourself!” Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) says through the broken glass of the door. “I’ve been in law enforcement in Texas for 30 years, and I’ve never had people act this way. I’m ashamed!”

“That’s because you’ve never seen corruption like we’ve seen in the past month!” a rioter shouts back.

Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) can also been seen with Nehls.

“We’re coming in one way or another,” one rioter says. “They can only kill so many of us,” says another. At one point, as the video is pointed directly at a gun-wielding officer, a rioter shouts “Fucking pedophiles! We know about your pedophilia!”

“If we’re got to hang a bunch of crooked congressmen, we’ll do that, okay?” another shouts.

When the House reconvened after the Capitol was cleared by police at around 8 p.m., both Nehls and Markwayne voted to overturn the election.

The moment captured in the new footage is the same one that a photographer inside the chamber caught during the riot that rocketed around the world.

I think shooter knows. Trump wanted Pence to reject the electoral votes claiming some confusion over which electors were the true electors, and throw the problem back to the house to determine who would become president. Pence had no constitutional standing to do this, but trump didn't care. Since Pence refused to follow trump's orders, trump ignited the fuse that exploded in the riots and storming of the capitol.

 

How do you know what Trump wanted Pence to do? Were you there GENIUS?

They've convinced themselves they know what happened and who did it.
They're convinced that justice and right is on their side.
They want to crow about it and show their superiority, having fallen on the right side for once.

This is literally just hilarious to watch.

And that is just the very tip of the iceberg. There were multiple meetings with witnesses to Trump pressuring Pence to refuse to certify the election and accept the fake electors. It was also documented in the Eastman coup memo. And documented again in the fake elector scheme including Trump being caught on tape in Michigan

But it gets even more hilarious because now let's look at this.

OMG I cannot stop laughing at that. For one calling for a "pause" was part of the coup plot. Trump and his coup plotters wanted a "pause" in order to send the certification back to Republican state legislatures claiming they could just throw out the votes of the majority of people who voted for President Biden and just declare Trump the winner. But that fell through when too many red state legislators said they didn't believe they could do that. But Trump and his coup plotters still had the fake electors for a backup trying to get Pence to say that with the fake electors he couldn't determine who was the rightful winner. And because of that the decision would have to be returned to the House of Representatives to vote on the winner. In that case each state would only get one vote and with slightly more red states they could make Trump president again


But please folks if you want to laugh so hard you probably can't stop just click on the little link provided. That is almost eight minutes of Pence throwing Trump under the bus, admitting the incredible amount of pressure Trump was putting on him to overthrow the election. And best of all saying the claim all Trump wanted him to do was "pause" the certification categorically false. And @mstrman was fool enough to post that himself.
