  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Title says it all, but I guess I shall elaborate, this isn't a simple list of who you listen to. It's a matter of preferential taste. Why do you prefer metal, who got you in to the genre and if you don't like metal, why?

As for me, I am in to metal because, to me, it is the best genre of music, musically. The guys (I listen to underground music) and girls who write and perform this music are typically accomplished musicians who didn't just pick it up and start banging on the guitars and drums to make some wishy washy bullshit pop-metal.

I listen to progressive power metal, usually, as it is probably best represented through complex guitar work, impressive vocals and themes that can make you think, while still retaining the irking crunch that typical metal has, while busting out ridiculous mind boggling solos. Themes of power metal typically come off as cheesy or nerdy, (Dragonforce) and for people who live in their basements playing Dungeons and Dragons all day (Blind Guardian), but there are real themes with real purpose to try to learn their fan base of issues in the world, past and present, a recurring theme in all metal is their hatred for organized religion and how it brainwashes the public. There is also power metal that has a darker tone to it and seems like they are going to jump through your headphones and kill you at any second (Children of Bodom, Iced Earth, etc) and then there is the ultimate guitar work with sometimes cheesy music focused on religions, mental struggles between man and nature, or sometimes, based on literature and wars and strifes throughout history (Rhapsody, Symphony X, Angra).

Why do you listen to metal or why don't you? Have you ever listened to it more than a few songs on the radio that are corporate sellouts with no real creativity in their music, or have you delved into underground metal bands and just decided it wasn't for you?

It identifies me as a person who doesn't settle for less than mediocre showmanship and creativity, and sometimes, it teaches me something!

    What's your story?

Well my friend. I listen to death and black metal.(Dimmu Borgir,Behemoth,Gorgroth,Mayhem, and many others). But i also listen to many other sub genres of metal such as power and viking metal. I have listen to metal since i was a we-little lad. I grew up in a family that all listen to thing like Metallica and Iron Maiden.
I also listen to metal because it sometimes calms me and when im at a concert, there is such a energy i cant explain. Well that pretty much it :).

I'm still into the old school metal, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, early Metallica and of course Slayer.

Metal can both be primal and melodic. It can release your inner angst, and yet, it can also settle your mind and heart.

I am but we call it iron.

Give you a prize if you can name the band that invented heavy metal. And bonus points for their most famous song.

That answer can only be debateable.

To ask which band actually started Heavy Metal, is akin to the question about a certain poultry and it's offspring.

Jan 1968 - Blue Cheer release Summertime Blues (a cover of an Eddie Cochran hit). Many consider this to be the first true heavy metal song.

Melodic metal is my scene (In Flames). I like it mostly because it gets me 'going', I love music that gets the adreneline flowing and makes you want to do things.

ARGH! IN FLAMES ARE SHIT! LISTEN TO DARK TRANQUILLITY!

Also, I love Opeth; kings of death/black/melodic/progressive/folk music.
