  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Gold is tacky, silver is pretty, platinum doesn't corrode, I love copper because it's very pretty. Mercury is liquid metal... makes me happy.

Gold may be tacky as a ornament, but it's beautiful as an investment.

Although a pound of copper bought two years ago produces as much profit as an ounce of gold would.

Metal was introduced to me by my Uncles -metalheads to the core- and the very first song I can ever recall hearing was Raining Blood. I'm not even gonna say the band's name, because if you don't know it, I pity you.

Metal, to me, equates to Freedom. It's a style of music that has no limitations. You can sing about anything without fear of backlash from everyone else. Songs about German death camps, the devil, war, civil strife run rampant in Metal, as do songs about the Sunset Strip. But Metal is more than that.

To me, Metal is allowing the guitar riffs plow the way to new heights; letting the drums
smash through the proverbial glass ceiling; letting the vocals -screechingly high pitched or deep gutteral growls from the gut- set up shop as you take stock and realize what's going on in the world around you, be it in past or present or even future.

The topics are not going to be rampant, "Got guns, money, hos, shot at" kinda stuff that rap has. It's not going to be listening to Barry Manilow trying to smooth talk some girl. There are songs like "Janie's Got a Gun" (Aerosmith, yeah, it's one of the more popular bands but it was a complete left turn from things like Walk This Way, I felt it made a fitting example) which was about how a girl killed her father because he molested her. Songs that deal with the darker side of life.

Granted, that's only part of Metal. Metal is firmly entrenched with good times as well as the bad. Songs like "Pour Some Sugar On Me" has become something of the Stripper Anthem. You've got songs like "You Shook Me All Night Long", and other songs that just make you want to get up and party.

Metal has that quality, that Freedom, to go anywhere it wants with it's music. There's songs for almost every emotion. A lot of hardcore fans get wrapped up in, "Omg, that's industrialized Metal, it's all just a bunch of institutionalized Metal and it's no good." I don't like it. If it's on the top billboards, it's a sell-out." And I think that's just complete and utter shit, no offense. If the song has a way of making you bob your head and slightly sway to the music, then why the hell are you angry? Because it'll make you a conformist to like 'em? Bah. Wrong thread for this discussion.

That's Metal for me. It may not be that way for everyone else, but oh well. I enjoy my Metal, and I'll continue to enjoy the bands that push that PC Barrier.

(Sorry if I failed as well, Thandrend :p)

    *Cough*
Well let me justify my choice of Dream Theater.

Growing up I never really payed any attention to popular music as I was more wrapped up with my family. When I started into high school, I was playing a musical instrument at the time and started to develop an ear for it[music]. My conductor introduced me into the world of classical (hold your comments, please XD) with such names as Mozart, Bernstein, Ritter, Holst and Beethoven. I started to expand my musical mind by listening to more of these artists. I thought they were sensational and could tell the differences between recordings by the sound. In my senior year of high school, I was introduced to progressive music by a good friend. I started listening to it but didn't really get into it because I fancied classical more. First year university, I needed a new musical inspiration and found so in Blue Man Group as they were pretty hard and innovative. I started to listen to more classic rock soon thereafter. I was introduced to Rush via the radio and bought one of their CD's and was blown away at the musicianship(take into affect that I was practically "raised" on classical in high school). I listened to the progressive music that my friend had mentioned to me which was Dream Theater and fell in love. I like them because they aren't a mainstream band but they're damned good at their instrumentals. They are true musicians as they can improvise spectacular mind-blowing solo's on anything. They have an interesting group dynamic and listening to them made me listen to their influences, i.e. all classic rock! It's through them that I've developed the taste in music I have now. Not to mention they have a song to suit every mood I'm in.

    Happy - Metropolis
    Sad - Disappear
Mischievous - Home and so on.

I said within the first paragraph that I don't really care who you listen to, rather why. I don't want a list of who you listen to, who cares? It's been done 400 times before. What's so harmful about saying that everybody else failed at doing what I told them to?

    Hmmmm?

There's nothing at all wrong with classical music. And thanks for telling me why you like it. I like to know what people feel when they listen to their music, specifically metal. If you are in to prog metal or progressive power metal, you should check out Symphony X. They sound a lot like Dream Theater. I like them a lot.
