I know many people here are against the death penalty and killing under any most any circumstance, but how complacent would you be to save someone?

I recently saw some movie about a servant and rich married woman that after a fire on their boat were trapped on an island. They seemed to be getting on great on the island and could survive just fine. Several days after getting there and everything going well, all things considered, the servant finds the dickhead master unconscious and injured on one of the shores of the island and saves him. I am thinking to myself this would actually be hard to do. You are all alone with a hot chick on an island and she is obviously interested in you and you know this prick will bring nothing to table and only actively fuck things up for you. Do you pretend to have never saw him? I really think it is a tough call.

Would you save the life of someone that you know will ruin yours? If so, under what conditions?

 

honestly, yes, i would and really in any situation

i just don't think i could let someone die, no matter what feelings existed between us or what situation we're in

i guess i'm just a softie after all

 

I could answer that but I would probably be lying....I probably would not know until I was faced with that decision. I am not sure I would do the right thing though....

 

That is kind of what I think, it would be nice to save someone but at the same time you are making an active effort to fuck up your life.

You might have to come up with a similar scenario for it to translate appropriately. I don't think the island situation works the same from the female point of view.

let's just say there's this HUGE sale on shoes and i find these absolutely perfect heels, they're comfortable, they fit perfectly, they're designer, and they're gorgeous

they have one pair left in my size and i make a mad dash for the holy grail of shoes and who do i see making a beeline for these magnificient shoes? it's no one other than the bitch Sally from work who fucked the boss and got my promotion

so we're running for these shoes and all of a sudden Sally falls down and has a heart attack...now would i a) ignore her and buy the shoes b) start CPR c) grab the shoes and run back to do CPR

i'd probably choose C but it'd still be CPR

 

Now suppose that Sally is banging the shoe store owner so he reserves all custom shoes (imagine they are somehow permanently exclusive) until she decides if she wants them. So not only will you not get this holy grail, you won't get any forever.

 

I think I'd have a difficult time letting anyone die, particularly a complete stranger who hasn't given me any good reasons to kill him.

 

Well in this scenario it is someone you know, and it is someone you know will detract from your quality of life.

I think I would find it much easier to save the life of an enemy and then confront them latter if I had to.

I think it is harder to live with the enemy from within than it is to deal with the enemy from without.

 

But in the island scenario, you would live a life of complete solitude (it is pretty much guaranteed) rather than have the mental anguish of letting a prick die?

Once again Mr. Incubus sum it up quite nicely. What's the alternative, you just might have to end his life how would you want that on you? Why do i have to save the life of my enemy?

 

Why would anyone save the life of his/her enemy? Thats like reverse justice. If someone kills my parents/girlfirend, and he was about to die in a painful way, I would pull out a chair, open a bag of chips and pop open a can of soda (dont want to be drunk), and enjoy the show.

Maybe after the show, I'd hit on his girl (who just lost the love of her life and is in need of "support").

id save the guy on the island only because many hands make lighter work in such a scenario. of course it would need to be made clear that he is no longer master and if he isnt able to deal with that then I will just point out that I did make the effort to save him, I could have left him just as easily. That or the power of fear to keep him in place "ya know, accidents happen all the time and on a deserted island, its pretty much the end...."
Outside of that, molester touches my child and i see him hit by a car? he is gonna bleed to death right where he was hit. He gets stabbed by someone? I dont remember the # to the emergency line.
Harm my loved ones? chances are you will die in whatever accident has befallen you and I highly doubt I will care.

 

If my enemy dies, then am I not ahead by having one less enemy? especially on an island where resources are finite and well an enemy would only use resources.

 

I meant it would be harder to live with my inner self if I let someone die or even killed them just because for a moment I thought it would make my life easier. I think I would have a hard time with that on my conscience. On the other hand since I don't shy away from confrontation if after saving my enemy's life if they came at me in some way I think I would have no problem killing them if I thought I had to to save my own life. (Or the life of the female on the island. I could be highly motivated to do that).
