Forum socks……at the beginning they were interesting and funny but now I feel that there are too many of them around.

In one moment JoeDirty even implicated that smc is his sock.

I don’t like that at all and I think that such behavior makes more damage to our forum then revealing of all socks.

Discuss here about it and maybe if we decide we should ask Nophest to reveal all forum socks.

 

i had started a thread saying how annoying it was. the forum, is, unforunately, made up mostly of socks. when you go into a thread, the majority of the time you will see a user having conversations with themselves. it's kinda crazy. literally. brush it off, and don't really pay to much attention. i ignore their posts, which is sad, because occasionally it was people that i talked to here last year. makes you wonder about the sanity of certain people. :???:

btw, there's a difference between switching usernames, which is common, and opening another account and using both, as two completely different posters. or four.

but i think it should just be ignored.

As annoying though some may be... I don't think the mods should remove them. This forum is just like the real world, we all have to deal with some people that just don't know when to stop and whom get right under our skin. Even though some are insulting to the point of it being disgusting, I think as long as they aren't making threats all the time (which a few do)... I really see no point in them being removed.

Sorry for that. I was angry because of JoeDirty's comment and I had to post both posts so it can be understandable.

 

Lisa, do you REALLY think that the Forum is MOSTLY socks? That is sad, if true.

I figure that there is nothing that can be done about it, but I DO think that if there IS a way to limit people to ane account, it should be done. Members with several names and playing those kinds of games is just stupid AND juvenile AND potentially nasty.

 

There is a way to limit people to just one account.

 

What does anyone gain by using a sock? If you're just trying to piss someone off without them getting pissed at the real you, what was the point?

If you're trying to provoke a debate on something controversial, though, it might be a useful way of getting things moving without the real you being labelled as a fruitcake. I think I've seen that done from time to time.

Frankly, I don't think most of the posts onhere are socky, but I'm sure there are more than I realise.

But at the end of the day there is practically no-one on here that I actually know outside of the forum so if you were being you or being a sock, it's not really an issue for me. I probably don't know the real you anyway, do I?

 

I did this once for a couple of days. Not to avoid the fruitcake label, but so I could use a backhanded method of argument to pretend to be arguing for the other side. I revealed the sock shortly after.

This reminds me. Lisa didn't you say that one of your accounts was banned and the reason said: One account only?

Maybe some people's multiple personalities require that they have more than one username.

I did have a sock in Jan or Feb of 07 that I used to beat that douchebag sex_serv into the ground. I actually think I did a pretty good job at the time. Other than that, I never had a reason to have more than one ID.

and yeah, "nikki93" was banned, then i started a thread asking why, and i can't remember who (i think it was nophest) said that banning of second accounts wasn't allowed and the banned was lifted.
