"white guilt" would be the "guilt" that's imposed on white people in the United states for the history of the atrocities the Europeans did to the natives of this country, for the hundreds of years of slavery, not treating minorities and women like people until mid-late 20th century, Internment camps, and the Klu Klux Klan, and all that fun stuff.

Indians and Eskimoes here, I don't mind some tax exemption for First Nations peoples here, and a few other things. but it has gone on two long, and they have mismanaged 10s to 100s of Millions of dollars here. "Indian business".
Slavery, officially abolished in Canada, 1767.
Women's vote, early 20th century, 1920, or close enough.
Wyoming gave women the vote first(bet you didn't know that American friends!) 1869, followed in and around the same time as Canada for the vote nationwide.
Internment camps? That's war, another thing.

Some struggles between a collective system and an individualist one.
Personally, things have been pretty good, with regard to my experience with aboriginals.
An apology (and money) was recently made to First Nations for their poor to terrible treatment in our residential schools.
This went a long way to healing, more work still to do.

Well, most of the atrocities were originally perpetrated by the Spanish who began colonizing here in the 16th century..So maybe all the illegal Spanish immigrants should feel guilty..

I agree that all these things were bad..But they also happened a hell of a long time ago and had absolutely zero to do with me as I was not even born..Why should I feel guilty about them?

I'm Jewish, personally..During World War 2 this country turned away Jews attempting to flee the Holocaust by the boatload..But I don't expect anyone to feel sorry for ME because of what happened to somebody else..My grandfather owned a store in Pennsylvania during World War 2..No one in my family was in Europe during those years..So I'd look like a real asshole if I spent a lot of time complaining about it..I can of course see the Holocaust as a horrible event in the abstract..But it would be a joke for me to say that it affected me personally and want someone else to make excuses for me or give me anything extra because of it..

 

And that's why "white guilt" as a concept is total bullshit..
