People need to feel that they can relate to and understand their leader, Mal. You're absolutely right about people throwing away their votes, because people are so bogged down with life they don't have time to research, or are exasperated at a system that let them down and don't give a fuck anymore, or vote out of blind hope that maybe, just maybe, this time the elected person will help them.

Why did you vote for McCain, Mal? Be honest. Did you like all his ideas he had for the country? Did you like Palins plans for the country? Do you think McCain would have made fair, unbiased decisions that are truly the best for the country? As far as I know, Palin doesn't know much of anything, and McCain wanted to use the fact that he survived in horrific conditions for a number of years to get into the white house.

Note: If you think I'm attacking McCain the soldier, I'm not. My father was in Vietnam as a side-door gunner. He was shot down twice, and had to wade through 30 miles of swampy jungle to get back to friendly territory. I just think it's wrong to use some neat fact that has no bearing on leadership qualities to try to further your career.

I voted for Obama because I feel confident, based on my own independent research, that he is the best man for the job. I don't like all of his ideas, mind you, finding a perfect person is impossible these days but I think he shall help people like me. Time will tell if my decision was in error or not. But I try not to think about such things, I'm more worried about what I'm going to eat tomorrow.

I happen to have this neat ability to keep my emotions isolated from my decisions. I use cold harsh logic in my decisions. It's only recently that I have begun to learn how to "feel" things.
