  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

captm, I too thank you for re-railing the thread. Several of my family members live in Ontario, plus a few in BC, recently I wa sin Windsor for my older brothers funeral. No he didn't pass away because of poor healthcare, to the contrary, he survived as long as he did due to pretty good healthcare.

However, while visiting my nieces, nephews and their friends after the funeral, the topic of healthcare came up. The younger ones (20-35 I would think) were not all that happy with the Canadian plan, high taxes and long waits for treatment were the most common complaints. The older ones seemed to think the program was good but lamented the loss of healthcare professionals and the waiting times.

It would be interesting to see a study on the relative health insurance costs in the US vs. the increased taxes paid by Canadians. As I have said before, I am not against a healthcare plan for all US citizens, but I am very suspect of any plan that politicians would create. It seems that you have eluded to the same concerns.

BTW, my sources tell me that you are losing more doctors to India and Asia, than to the US.

Isn't it a fact that a lot of the added expense is due to things like indigent healthcare costs being added to the caregivers costs and then passed on to the paying customer?? Stumbler, I do agree that the costs are way too high, that a lot of it is insurance companies trend a few years ago of paying anything and passing it on. And that we are paying more because there is no national plan to pay for those receive care and do not/can not pay.

But I still think we can solve it without a national government plan.

Tenguy I find some interesting insights into what you are saying here. One is that the Canadian System appears to be working. It has some problems but name a human endeavor that doesn't.

But I also wonder about the differences in opinion between the younger Canadian's and the older ones. Perhaps the younger ones feel that way because they have not experienced anything else and because they don't really need the healthcare system; yet.

But the point is that it is still functioning better than our health care system when it comes to taking care of all the people instead of just the ones who can afford it.

Yes it is very much a fact that indigent care adds to the costs for everybody but when it comes to health care costs almost everyone is indigent. Even people who have insurance can't pay the medical expenses that insurance doesn't cover. I've said this before in cases like cancer, kidney failure, and things like that most people simply file for bankruptcy and/or disability, so the government i.e. tax payers end up paying anyway.

But we can only partial agreement on the costs that insurance companies are responsible for. True they add to both the costs of medical treatment and indirect costs like liability insurance. The the primary force behind the rising costs are the system is profit driven. Both the health insurance industry and the medical providers are driven by the desire to maximize profits not deliver health care.

Yes, Stumbler, let's take care of all people regardless of whether the want to work or not? We can support everyone. That statement from you really does show your IQ.:) Dkr... Peace. I don't care about all of these so called people you speak of, why would I or should I?

Tenguy I meant to ask you this in my previous post. I've clearly stated what I think would the best option. Do away with all forms of health insurance and pay for health care through government taxes.

You obviously don't think that is the best solution so what do you think would be better. I'd really be interested in knowing.

You'd have to expect that young people who grow up with the Canadian system, and who haven't ever experienced anything else, might harbor some criticisms of that system. One can always find such people. But here's the proof of the pudding....ask any Canadian if they would prefer having to pay directly for health insurance a la the United States. Then tell them that they might be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition. Tell them that they might face caps on their coverage on an annual basis, high deductibles, co-payments...tell them that they'll pay much more for prescription drugs than they do in Canada.

So, deidre, you're saying that unemployed people should not have any medical care? Who is it, exactly, who "doesn't want to work"?

Are you saying that anyone who can't afford health care insurance or has a catastrophic illness has never contributed to society?

Kimi, I did ask that question. Many of the younger ones (there were 24 people there, more younger than older) in fact said they would prefer paying for there own care.

But, I suspect that that is due to what you commented on first, they have not experienced anything but the high taxes, without needing much healthcare.

But then that is what is happening here, the people who are not experiencing health problems are not buying insurance, leaving those who are, paying much more. Then when those who chose not to buy it need it, they can't afford it, putting a further strain on the ones who do.

This to me is the number one reason to have a national plan that allows no one to opt out of paying the tab. However, I balk at having it administered by the government.

Quite a number of people if you look at any unemployment statistics. Ok I will say 70 percent of those really want work and can't find it. I sympathize with them. The other 30 percent live off of tax dollars and support Obama. Enough of your bleeding heart, you know damn well there is a segment of the unemployed that do not even try to find work. I hear everyone say i can't find anything? keep going, you will get there. Hey when Obama creates all of these wondrous jobs for us and he is serious about National defense, and quits supporting abortion? then maybe I will listen to him, but until that time...forget it. I have morals and values in my life. I am sorry you don't. Good Day Madam :) Dkr... currently in Florida it is 7 percent

I'm more concerned about what they cover than how they cover it, pre-existing conditions being a big one of those.

But aren't the ones who can't contribute or did at one time but can't now penalized just as much as the ones that won't under out system?

And which is greater? The group that can't or the group that won't?

And then what about the people you see in all these commercials that had a job and health care insurance and still had to file for bankruptcy? What to we do about them? Which I dare say is just one major illness or accident away from being me and you.
