There was an article in the paper yesterday (I think) that was quoting a major health insurance executive saying that they would be able to remove most, if not all, of those clauses if everyone was insured. If you want, I'll look for it when I return to the marina Monday.

Fair enough. But your mistrust of the government is more than matched by my mistrust of the private sector. At least with the government I can work to have my congressman defeated every two years. I'll have less luck having the CEO of my insurance company removed.

 

I'd appreciate that. I have two, maybe three "injuries" currently that would be labeld pre-existing, so it's a big issue for me.

 

Want to bet that the congressmen turn over less frequently than the insurance exec? We have a congress that spends more time and effort in getting elected or covering their retirement, than they do legislating.

But my problem with the government running it is the bureaucrts that are created. They are the peskiest fly in the ointment.

So I'm coming in toward the end of this thread, but here's my 2 cents. I'm in the military, and we basically have our own universal health care system. It's great on one hand, becuase you never have to worry about something being covered by you insurance. It sucks, though, because nothing gets taken care of the right way. I know a lot of people who walk into the Dr. with substantial problems, such as hairline fractures, and nothing gets done. Why? IMO it's because these docs get paid the same regardless of how much they do or don't do. So a lot of them choose to brush everything under the rug. I've also worked with Docs in the civilian marketplace at my previous job, and while this happens there, too, it's not nearly as often. They tend to be more likely to look into all aspects of a complaint, not just the obvious assumption and brush things under the rug. There are pros and cons to both systems, but overall, I think we should keep it privatized. More regulation needs to be introduced to make it a better system, but I don't believe universal is the best option.

There are more and more people out of work today and you can bet the reported figures given in the media are far lower then what is actual. These people are lining up at our libraries waiting to take turns using the computers there to look for jobs that are no longer there. Further the future outlook is not good in fact is going to get much worst. Don't these members of our society and their dependence's deserve health care.




(Deidre if your such a person of faith, you sure don't show it. I sure hope for your sake your Daddy doesn't lose that job that cares for your inhuman butt, you'll get a wake up call for sure then.) I wish people would quit quoting you...
