I know he probably deserves it, but I feel for the man. After you've been to jail or prison, you don't want anyone to have to.

Of the robbery and hijacking? That's not what the argument in this thread is about. (For myself, I haven't followed this case so I wouldn't offer any opinion beyond knowing that he was convicted for it.)

Ah, fair point. It's gotta be hard to find twelve people in the USA who don't know who OJ is or that he was once tried for murdering his wife.

I suspect, though I very much hope I'm wrong, that his seemingly harsh sentence for these crimes factors in his previous charges. It could just be that this sort of sentence is normal in the US for these sort of crimes, though.

Think of this for a second...

You're one of the best college runningbacks to ever play college football, and then you're accepted into the NFL Hall of Fame. Everything in your life is perfect, you've got enough money to prevent you from ever having to work a day in your life. Then some bullshit case turns your life upside down, and you lose everything paying for a defense attorney that shouldn't have been needed in the first place. That fucked him mentally, and it would do the same to a lot of people. You would feel the same way, you might not do what he did, but you'd feel the same way. I don't care what kind of bullshit excuse you come up with to not feel like that, if it was all said and done, you would... everyone would.

I think he meant going along the lines of the theory that he's getting an unfair trial because they're thinking way too much about him getting away from his last trial, jailtime free, not that he wasn't actually guilty of this crime

 

And yet...he was subsequently found to be responsible for the two deaths in a civil case.

Let's face it, folks...the murder trial was thoroughly botched, by the prosecution, by the judge, and by the jury. Justice was not served.
