Just curious to anyone that has one if the noise of the system itself is very loud?
I just got one and as soon as you turn it on it sounds like a jet just being powered up. It continues the whole time like this. No problems at all with it, I am just curious about the noise.

 

Why's it called the XBox 360?

 

1) if it has that sound likely your hardrive is fucked up. did you buy it new or used, older first gens had HUGE hard drive problems so.. ya.
2) I believe it is because they wanted a full 360 from the original xbox. dont hold me to that though.

 

it is loud because of the fans inside you only need to worry if you get the RRD

It shouldn't be too loud, unless you're comparing it to the sound emitted from a PS3, or another console. It's just got a lot of power, but it's not a problem.

 

I have it downstairs and when I go upstairs I can still hear the fan.
I have read other people say the same thing, I just want to make sure something isnt wrong. It is refurbished, and I have 30 days if anything goes wrong.

Again, it plays great and I have it connected to the internet and everything has downloaded OK.

 

chances are its running fine you tend to notice if it laggs out on games that somthing is not right just remember with a net connection it runns a little slower

I think the fox is correct it's the fans. If it is working fine I wouldn't worry about it. You can always go back or call the store and ask them if it's ok.

It might be defective or your just to overly sensitive. I play gears 2 at full blast so I couldn't tell u how loud the 360 is.

In all seriousness, I didn't think much of it.

One word of advice though, don't try covering it up to stop the noise, that's a good way to fry the system.

I guess its ok then. I read other peoples reviews on other sites and they said the same thing. Dont really notice it when they are playing cause they crank the volume up. Maybe I should try that

 

My 360 is also loud, at late night when I'm forced to have a low volume the 360 itself makes more sound than the games soundtrack and SFX will make. Though I heard some people saying that on the newest 360s the sound will be much lower... My 360 is from like, the release.. And I still had no RRoD yet
