OP, what's defined as cheating is up to the individual. So ask yourself, do you see it as cheating?

If you as me, so long as it remains just words, and it goes no farther than just words, then it's not cheating. But if it leads to webcams, picture exchanges, etc., then that's when I count it as cheating myself...

I just see cybersex, before the pics and webcams and that stuff, as reading a story more than anything else...

The only problem I have with this is, what about in real life? What if you break down and fuck some random person whom with you have no emotional attachment with while you're dating someone? Is that cheating? According to what you say here, no it's not....

What counts as cheating depends on the people involved. Some who have open relationships don't even count actual sex outside the relationship as cheating. Each person has to answer this one for him/herself.

 

if you feel it necessary to hide from your other half, then I'd 100% classify it as cheating. you don't hide your masturbation from them, do you?

I think it's cheating unless the significant other has given consent, as with real physical contact. If you are hiding it then it's unfair, dishonest, and low. aka: cheating.

 

It's up to the individuals involved in the relationship. I personally don't see it as cheating and use to enjoy RPing in groups and one on one. However, my spouse did not approve and considered it a form of cheating so I stopped. If it makes one of you uncomfortable then you have to respect that person's views and feelings.

If you talk to your significant other about it, then you'll find out what he/she thinks about cybersex. Personally I consider it cheating, since you're talking intimately with someone and getting off together. But it's all about the people in your relationship and what you find acceptable.

Now, here's my question; Elli said a couple of posts above, "Personally I consider it cheating, since you're talking intimately with someone and getting off together." But what if you're NOT getting off together? Speaking only for myself here, what if you're just talking the talk in a chat room but you're not playing with yourself in any way to get off (the other person may be getting off on the words but you're not)? Is that still cheating??

Also on the subject of what constitutes cheating (but not involving cybersex); does anyone here consider looking at porn (photos or videos) as cheating? And what would be your reaction to someone who DOES consider looking at porn as cheating? What would you do if your significant other considered that to be cheating and got upset if you continued to view porn?

 

to me cyber sex is de same as cheating because u are still engaging in a sexual involvment with someone other than your partner. Although you are not directly cheating on your partner the thought alone is a sin against the vows and morals you share with your partner.
