  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Actually, my Father died many years ago and my mother talks alot like you, funny how you get more right-wing as you get older isn't it?

My politics are my own, I arrived at them without coersion. Unlike (I suspect) you.

Isreal was justified in shelling civilian targets deliberately?
That's a statement made deliberately to attract attention if ever I've heard one.

Written entirely from the Israeli point of view. The point remains...Israel attacked first...................................For the distinct reasons that I clearly stated above. :)

That's like lumping everyday Israeli's in with their goverment, are you responsible for your governments actions?
Everyday Palestinians are probably not involved in anything to do with Hamas and yet they are targeted? Unacceptable.

The more important point is that Israel was facing credible threats of annihilation. What was Israel supposed to do? Wait to be bombed?

I never said I condone or applaud the killing from either side? We agree to disagree. These two diametrically opposed forces will never make nice and surely they will never live in peace without concessions that either is willing to give up. I believe Israel just declared a cease fire today. :)

No, I'm saying that your source exhibits a pervasive pro-Israel bias. Quotes like that one do not provide a valid excuse for aggression on Israel's part, nor do those attributed more recently to Ahmedinejad. Krushchev said they would "bury us"...that didn't require that we attack the Soviet Union.

    We will bury you

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Jump to: navigation, search
Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev famously used an expression generally translated into English as "We will bury you!" ("Мы вас похороним!", transliterated as My vas pokhoronim!) while addressing Western ambassadors at a reception at the Polish embassy in Moscow on November 18, 1956.[1][2][3] In fact, it was somewhat distorted. The actual quote reads: "Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will dig you in" (Нравится вам или нет, но история на нашей стороне. Мы вас закопаем).
On August 24, 1963, Khrushchev himself remarked in his speech in Yugoslavia, "I once said, 'We will bury you,' and I got into trouble with it. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you," [4] a reference to the Marxist saying, "The proletariat is the undertaker of capitalism"; a popular articulation of the materialist conception of history as the inevitable progression of class struggle towards communism.

Khruschev never expressed an intention to annihilate the United States. Nasser did express an intention to annihilate Israel. I was in high school at the time, and I was following the news. Israel had every reason to take Nasser seriously.

Kimiko told you but the question isn't what led to the six day war. The real question is since Israel was trying to provoke a war with Egypt since 1955 why did it take so long. Here's why, according to the diaries of Moshe Sharett.

http://chss.montclair.edu/english/f...APTER 1: Moshe Sharett and His Personal Diary

There is a lot of good thoughts in this post but all I really want to address is what approach Barack Obama may take as President of the US. I have already read a couple of things that say Obama will take a less tolerant view of Israel and will likely try and tie future aid to Israel to a peaceful resoltion with the Palestinians.

The idea of creating and selling the myth that Israel was constantly threatened by their Arab neighbors while they actually and actively planned land grabs by PROVOKING WAR with their neighbor Arab states is well documented.

But what I never fully realized is what steps they went through to sell the same myth to the people of Israel.

This was after more then a decade of careful planning and provocations on the part of the State of Israel. Which again is plainly documented in the diaries of Moshe Sharett.

Yes, because the threats of annihilation were not credible and not only Israel knew that but Egypt knew it to.

Why should the diary of Moshe Sharett have more credibility than what Nasser said in public? Nasser did want to destroy Israel. If the threats were not credible that is because the Israelis were so superior that they could defeat many times their weight in Arabs.

Following the Six Day War I remember a joke that was current. An Egyptian battalion commander sent a squad to kill an Israeli soldier. The squad was never heard from. Then he sent a platoon. Same story. Finally he sent a company. One Egyptian survivor came running back yelling, "Turn back! It's a trap! There are two of them!"

Why should the words of Moshe Sharett have more credibility then Nasser? Because Moshe Sharret was Head of the Jewish Agency's Political Department from 1933 to 1948, Sharett became Israel's first foreign minister ( 1948 1956), under David Ben Gurion), and was prime minister in 1954 and 1955.

He had an inside seat to what was really happening in Israel, that's why?

I can't speak to specific steps, but the principle is very well understood...all that's necessary is to scare the hell out of them.

Here's one entry from Sharret's diary that speaks to it.

And I think this passage is not only very revealing but especially timely with Israel's latest actions.

The ceasefire in Gaza has been broken just afew hours after it came into effect
Hamas has sent at least five rockets into Israel, and there are reports of Israeli jets launching air strikes in retaliation, as well as several exchanges of fire in Gaza city

The Israelis cannot negotiate with people who want to destroy Israel. The Israelis cannot intimidate people who do not fear death. They have to kill them all. Fighting Hammas is like fighting the Japanese during World War II. They don't take prisoners and they don't surrender.
