I like country as well as all kinds of different genres of music. Rock and Roll and country have blended together a lot now. And if your good friend is who I'm thinking of, I believe he likes to rock and roll!

 

Did you notice who the two artists are?

 

On the 'country' side of C&W, it's worth noting that many iconic West Coast bands of the 60's were heavily influenced by country.
The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and even The Grateful Dead have dipped their plectrums very successfully into the Country style.

 

And let's not forget Bob Dylan and Nashville Skyline. (You knew I would just have to stick that in there didn't you).

 

I'm not a fan of most country music, nor to I like hip-hop or heavy metal, but I agree with the folks here who say that music consists of the sounds that float your boat. I was watching a sort of noir movie last night on TV in which the sound track consisted at times of a lone, muted trumpet playing a slow blues riff, and it seemed to me to perfectly capture the mood (or create the mood). Sometimes music like that can bring me to tears.

Country music can bring me to tears, too, but for entirely different reasons.

 

I can't say I like the music itself for the most part, but I like a lot of the lyrics because they tell a story. Most pop music anymore lacks story telling.

I do like Johnny Cash, music and lyrics both, esp his stuff with Rick Rubin.

 

Maybe I've put this up before, but this is something I learned AFTER I quite drinking.

If you're in the bar and you want everyone to be having a good time get control of the Juke Box and start playing older Rock and Roll tunes and faced paced Blues (if they have any).

Conversely, if you can't get control of the Juke Box and you notice some Big Ol' Boy with four inches of the crack of his ass showing above his waist band standing at the Juke Box and the next songs you hear are ones like "He turned 21 in prison doing life without parole," or "You Picked a Fine Time To Leave Me Lucille" either get out of there or get ready to fight.

This sounds like an interesting study. I always thought if you were a fan, that meant you listened to it on the radio, went to concerts, bought CDs, and watched TV

I LOVE counrty music, I am watching CMT music videos right now. I like Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, Johnny Cash, The Carter Twins, Josh Tuner, and Carrie Underwood to name a few.
