Okay maybe I'm paranoid so tell me if you think so. . .but I was all excited as my new chapter of my story posted earlier this evening. It was sailing along great and had several positive votes over a period of time. It was also getting great comments.

Then all of a sudden, in a very short period of time it suddenly had 5 negative votes hit seemingly all at once.

I know internet and computer technologies are great these days and it made me wonder and paranoid that someone has the ability to cast multiple votes at one time.

What made me think this even more is that as of yesterday NONE of my stories had an average under 80% then suddenly 5 our of 30 stories fell under 80% within a tiny time frame.

Does the xnxx re-calculate scores on occasion?

I swear I am not losing my mind or making this up.

Has anyone else ever noticed something like this. It really has me wondering if there is a hacker out there who if they do not like a certain authors stories if they can cast multiple votes at one time.

Or maybe i have been spending too much time with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck!!!

 

I don't think it's you. From what I've seen there are people that hate certain types of stories and it looks like they go out of their way to leave complaint comments and cast negative votes. The PMs I get tell a different story. Don't let it get to you.

From writer to writer, I've noticed this same damn thing! I'm glad someone else has caught on to this. Every once in a while it seems like someone begins to shit all over certain stories with either low rating, bad comments, or a combination of both.

I wish we could stop it, but I guess we'll have to put up with the assholes who do it to us. Fuck them and their mommies, too!

 

One thing I've noticed though is how many stories are taking hits - top rated story at 90.1% kind of thing. Such tactics accomplish nothing other than changing the scale so top rated is 90 instead of 100.

Not like I write for votes anyhow, each of my stories has a slightly different approach to how the story progresses, while the themes may be consistant that will only be true for a while then I'll change themes to something else.

The complainers will still be there - but too bad for them, they're more the type to indulge in self-aggravation than anything else so they can in some way feel justified about spewing their negative input.

But seriously, has anyone stopped writing because of those responses? Not me, I could care less, especially when the positive feedback is far more emphatic and the PMs I get back that up even more.

There's an audience for every topic and there are critics as well. Such is life.

This is pretty simple, to check if you already cast a vote, xnxx.com simply gets your ip address and saves that. But as a normal internet user you get a new ip address any time you reconnect to the internet. So if you just tell your router to reconnect every few minutes you can revote every few minutes. This is pretty simple, if you know what to do, you can easily cast about 20 or 30 votes in an hour without xnxx.com knowing that. That's the problem if you let anybody vote without them signing in. This way it is only the ip address that is known to the site and therefor this is the only way to decide if it is a new vote or not.
This is a drawback in the system of xnxx.com and sometimes this system gets used by someone who wants to cast a lot of negative votes. The only way to change that would be a requirement to sign in before you vote. Until then you have to live with that and accept it that you sometimes get annoying votes even so your story doesn't deserve it.

 

I love to read stories, but don't vote too often. Sometimes if I like a story and want more, I'll leave a comment. On the rare occation I find one I don't like, I'll just switch to another story. I know I should vote, but usually when I get to the end of a story, I have to clean up :excited:. There are alot of silent people out there that really love the stories. Keep them comming

 

As a reader, I wish there was a way to prevent the asshole from driving the scores of some very good stories/authors so low that, unless you know the author, you would not be interested in reading that story. A lot of my favorite authors are aware of the asshole and wish there was a way to stop him/her. Maybe a religous zealot? To all of my favorite authors out there - keep the faith and keep writing. There are a lot of devoted readers out here.

 

I agree that getting repeated negatives is a downer, especially since one person's hammering isn't exactly an indicator of a story's quality.

On the bright side... your work obviously solicited a strong emotional reaction on the part of at least one individual, and that's what great fiction is all about. So, if someone felt passionate enough about your story to go to the effort to, rant/comment, log out, and back on, rant/comment, logout/on, et cetera -take it as a compliment.

I hope I'm included in your list of favorite authors and I appreciate your comments taking up for us writers. Thanks for the many generous comments you have left after reading my stories (you seem to have something good to say even when my story is not up to my best standards). It is readers like you who keep us writers plugging away and cranking out new stories.

Just kidding. I write 'Young' stories and get shit on a lot. People who think it is a sin or illegal to even think about this topic read all my stories and then condem the writer. But they read them completely. Don't let it bug you. Keep writing. The only real mistake you can make is to stop writing. Fuck em!

 

This got me thinking. Obviously some of the writers here want people to enjoy and appreciate their work - naturally enough as you're posting it on a public forum - so why not create a new thread entitled "Recommended writers on XNXX" ?

That way, people could talk about which writers works they particularly enjoyed reading, alert new readers on who to check out - and possibly who to avoid - and hopefully, the best writers will start to develop their own fan base as a result, independently of any biased scoring system.

Ha! I get the same thing with my snuff stories... folks will read the whole thing and then write something like 'sick' at the end. LOL!

As a writer, your main aim should be to create something that you enjoy-- don't worry about the rating. Some people will like your story and some people won't, and you can always find some idiots who stuff up the polling. Maybe they're trying to make their own story look better in comparison? Just stick to what you enjoy and don't worry about what other people say.

 

SOMEONE DOESN'T LIKE ME!

My stories were all running 85 to 90% approval until one day a few days ago somebody put a lot of effort into logging about 50 or more negative votes into every one of my stories. It takes a lot of effort to do this not to mention the time required. I just don't get what pleasure they get from it. Do I give a shit? NO WAY.

As a reader, not a writer, I view these negative votes with alarm. I worry that the writer, seeing a very (undeserved) low rating, will lose heart and stop writing on this site. The ratings also give me an indication of which stories may be worth reading. Now, with the aforementioned asshole driving the ratings low, the only thing that I can rely on to help me make the decision as to which stories to read is who wrote the story. I have my list of favorites and, unless I see something in the theme listing or one of my favorite writers recommends something, those are the only stories I read. I really wish there was a way to stop the asshole from posting all of the negative ratings. Until then, I will continue to stick with the writers I know.

 

Your not really paranoid if they are after you ...

I get fairly low ratings (starting from about 70 and going down to 50) but from the comments (and the people adding me on MSN) I see that people really do like my stories. I would much rather one person be in love with me stories and have low ratings than simply have high ratings. I'm not sure if that came out quite like I wanted it to ... but masturbating and concentrating on writing can be kinda hard some times (no pun intended).
