What, in your opinion, would be a cause worth dying for? (e.g. honor, world peace, your country etc.)

 

My children.

 

Faith--I would never be forced to say that the God of the Bible is not real or does not exist no matter what I do in my life.

Country--As long as that country's ideals are one of liberty and justice. I was born here so I would be willing to die for the USA.

Family, Friends, & Neighbors--I would not stand by while someone I know is being hurt or killed. I would put myself in the way of their oppressor. I would fight against anything that might be keeping them in ignorance or bondage, even if it means death.

 

God, Family, Country. The way my priorities lie. But in my opinion if I were chosen to lay my life down for my country I do it for my family as well.

 

I'm just curious...what do you mean when you say you would be willing to die for your god? I mean....what possible turn of events could ever threaten the existence of your god?

Or is it that if your god told you to do something that would result in your own death, you would do that?

 

Answer to the second question....Yes

First question......If someone were to lets say put a gun to my head and demand that I admit that there is no God I would never admit that there is no God. I would NOT however fight a war based on my religion. Never in my life would I try and impose my religion on someone else by force.

 

I would be honored to die humanely in the name of science. I am an organ donor.

 

I don't think there's any social cause worth dying for. I think however, there are a lot of causes worth living for.

Because once you're dead, you no longer have a say in world events. Alive, you can at least attempt to do something about it.

The idea of sacrificing your life for such a silly concept of faith is repulsive to me. Millions of years of evolution that bred in us an incredible will to survive, to overcome, to live, and people will subvert it without question for a magic sky fairy.

The only thing I would deliberately give my life for is my son. Everyone else can piss off. As for a cause, there are things I would fight for and possible risk my life for, but, as Patton famously said, let the other son of a bitch die for his country. So to speak.

Or, what if god decided to get all Abrahamic and ordered one of them to sacrifice their children on an alter to satisfy his own egomania? Would they do that? Children are taught in Sunday School that to do such a thing is a virtue.

Personally, I don't care if I "die for" anything. If I had a choice, I'd make it quick, but other than that, I don't have much preference.
I mean, shit, I could die just because someone didn't do something right with the LOX / NOX, someone fucked up with the pressure in a compressor, a tug falls off the stand onto me when I'm fixing it, I could get electrocuted hooking a battery up, etc.

 

I could just die for a good piece of ass right now.....

 

Yeah,, I'd almost go with that today,,,,but on the other hand , I have found nothing in this world worth dying for.

Besides religion is the leading cause of death for thounsands of years.

family and freedom. chances are if you mess with either YOU'LL probably die first.
