  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

We do owe them a lot. My uncle was in the AA in Hawaii, after the attack, though.

Anti-aircraft service, you know, big guns aimed at the sky. They were also emplaced on the coast at San Francisco at Marin Headlands, the foundations are still there, and Fort Point was actually manned. Also at Galveston, Texas, there were bunkered emplacements open toward the sea, they too, are still there (minus guns).

    "So proud!"

What a contribution; you must be so proud!

If only my Grandfathers weren't buried in Normandy/drowned off Gibraltar they too could have sat-out the (Second World) War in Hawaii...

    Pearl Harbor

If you have never been to Pearl Harbor, I highly recommend it. Been there a few times, and it never gets old. Doesn't cost a dime, only if you want to submit a donation.

It has to be, along with the Vietnam Memorial, one of the most solemn places I've ever been too. Really fascinating and eerie at the same time.

I can understand why it would be eerie-knowing that the remains of all those that died remain in the ships there..

I am well aware of the price paid by your compatriots (and the Canadians) during Operation 'Overlord'.

I just happen to think comparing this to a passive role "after the attack" is risible.

I continued to demonstrate my respect for their sacrifice in Iraq (both campaigns) and the 'stan.

It's a shame that the current US Armed Forces lack the courage and professionalism shown by their forebears.

For the life of me I do not know where you get "sit out the war in Hawaii"
In my opinion that is a very poor choice of words, and puts you at the bottom of the honor roll.. No I would say your name should be eleminated completely

Hawaii had to bve protected, and we did not know from where another attack might come.. That was an important Navy base, and many ships and planes were repaired in amazing time to return to battle. They had to repair the troops there also.. It is my opinion that the statement "sit out the war in Hawaii" was dumb and very rude.

    I don't know

I don't think the Armed Forces lack professionalism or courage. I believe technology has "softened" us up a bit though, across the board. What I really believe is that they lack a sense of direction and what the true objective is. I imagine a lot of them are dazed and confused to what the heck they are supposed to do. A lot of fault goes to Bush and politics in general, for not giving a clear-cut understanding. Back then, I believe there was a clear mission, and everyone understood their role.

I truly respect the efforts given by the men and women of the Armed Forces, regardless if they are in Iraq/Afghanistan or not. For what they are doing in Iraq/Afghanistan, they are doing as good a job as they can. I don't think they are given enough support by the gov't. The people at home are showing support to them, regardless if they are for the fighting or not.

You know Lucky Jim, I don't think your posts, especially your responses to RockPrincess have anything to do with the topics at hand. I think you are actually just pissing all over other people's ideas because you have personal issues with the US and some individual's on the forum. If that is the case I'm going to just ignore you and hope other forum members do the same. That way instead of feeling improtant you'll just be impotent.

Very well said AA and I agree. Think of all those National Guard people that were totally shocked that they ended up in Iraq. We both know that they didn't have enough training to handle the situation they were put into. I know of one congressman that started a campain for bullet-proof vests, because his people didn't have them..I totally support our troops and thank them for fighting for us. However, I really don't believe in this Iraq war, I'd like to see them come home.
